We got our beach/fan service episode just four episodes into this show. They gave Mina a cute look though. Akari just had to also join because it's a beach episode and she can't miss out having the fun.

Most interestingly is also the appearance of "Super Mina" who seems to have more emotions than the regular one. Super Mina added alot of energy into this episode. Hope she shows up more in the future.

A BEACH EPISODE IN MY ROBOT WAIFU ANIME??? Best episode yet! Ton of cute moments and it’s cool seeing another Mina/Human romance with Super Mina and Rihito.

First of all, Mina grabbing Akari titty to get her to Shutup is so funny 😂. Mina actually was probably the most expressive she’s ever been in this episode. Some things of particular note were her ability to read the room and detect something was wrong with Rihito from afar, comforting him when he got emotional talking about Super Mina and how much she means to him/wanting to prove to his mom all the great things she can do. Developing this sort of social awareness is BIG for Mina. She’s already broken the title of the anime because she definitely has feelings lol.

Rihito is a sweet kid though and it goes to show that people of all ages can find love with a Mina model lol. Glad they were reunited and you can tell both Mina models were bonding over their love of their masters.

I knew that memory card from last ep or the ep before was going to come into play! Didn’t think it would be this soon and because of Mina filling it up from taking pics of Takuma 😭 she’s so cute. Maybe that means we won’t go the darker “my memory capacity is full and needs to be factory reset” route that I anticipated..

That ending was too cute! “If my face is a 10 normally what is it now” thought we would get a kiss they were so close! As usual this show lifts my mood, awesome episode and everyone looked great in their beach outfits today!

Beyond the many other positive things I could say about this series in a lot more depth, I'll just say for now that one aspect which I appreciate that seems minor yet is actually major in contributing to the flow here is the avoidance of low hanging fruit for obvious conflict and inversion of some tropes on their head.

I'm as siscon as much as the next...well, more than most. Sibling pairings are incredibly special and important to me, and after all how I got into anime in the first place. Yet this series isn't about that. Contrary to what would fall within the expectations of some, the sister was not introduced as a love rival vying for Takuma's affections in the same way, so no needless harem element. Instead, it's the opposite. The sister is unflinchingly supportive and even has a personal investment and passion in seeing their relationship succeed. One obvious conflict avoided.

Then Super Mina, who was mentioned in earlier episodes, is finally introduced in person. The next expectation of some in the audience or worry/fear is that she and our Mina will have a hostile, antagonistic relationship leading into another love rivalry and Takuma potentially becoming quickly smitten with her for her enhanced expressive features as an advanced model. No such development transpires. Another needless conflict avoided. Good!

Conflict can be good. It can be great. It can be essential. It can drive the core identity and most interesting parts of a series. But the "conflict" here is navigating the in-built set of physical, psychological, social, and cultural limitations and obstacles of any individual transgressive romantic relationship such as a human-android pairing in the first place. You don't even need a convenient predictable villain or antagonist or any form of rival to create what is already inherent; if anything it would just suck time and energy away from what I came to see.

This series needs no more conflict than the two of them figuring themselves and each other out individually and jointly and facing the world and the future together. Becoming comfortable with this revolutionary new mode of existence, being a couple, which crosses species' lines and is new for them personally. What could be more fascinating than that? Anything tacked on to try to derail that evolutionary development would just seem so lame and cheap by comparison.

The inevitable beach episode is here. It was a good episode, but what caught my attention the most is that weddings with robots are legal abroad, which is good news if the protagonist wants to make his marriage with Mina official.

Not to brag,

Mina models have advanse a long way. It's good to see that human-robot marriage happens in this story, even if it's not in Japan, but it shows that the protagonist is not the only one who can develop a loving affection for machines.

Spanish translation:
Los modelos mina han avanzado mucho. Es bueno ver que el matrimonio humano robot pasa en está historia, aunque no sea en Japon, pero muestra que el protagonista no es el unico que puede desarrollar un afecto amoroso a los robots.

Was cool to see Super Mina, not sure if it was the intention of the creators or I am overthinking it....but I felt it could be showing us the grass is not always greener.

Sure MC Mina has some flaws and limitations, but when you go the other way it can result in something a bit over the top - Super Mina is the ultimate anime girl trop haha, well other than them not over sexualising her which is honestly so refreshing.

If MC Mina can keep evolving a bit to reach some kind of middle ground she may end up being in some ways "the better model".

Nice episode overall, cool change of pace!

Our obligatory beach episode also gives us an initial look at a Super Mina robot. Her features are impressive, but that airhead personality module seems like it would put a serious damper on her abilities as a housekeeping robot. I wonder how many Super Mina owners are buying her for other reasons. We also find out that all Mina robots are capable of communicating wirelessly with each other. Good for coordinating chores, but it's got me thinking about the potential vulnerabilities.

Props to this show for avoiding the cliche bullshit misunderstandings that plague this genre, even though having Takuma hanging out with a Super Mina was a prime opportunity for some "NTR." Oh no! My master is spending time with the upgraded version of me!

This anime is so underrated and the ratings of this show is becoming a total lie.
This episode was wholesome as well, Mina,Takuma and Akari gone to beach and this episode also showed Super Mina. The cuddling scene was so heartwarming. The memories stored in the memory card showed how much Mina cares for Takuma \(//∇//)\
The OP and ED are amazing as always. Looking forward to the next episode.

It was probably rated that way and driven down by people who disagree with and reject the whole idea of the anime - i.e., the premise, on principle. And those who watched one or two episodes (or five minutes of the first episode) and then promptly dropped it.

Unfortunately, those early ratings tend to stick with a series for the majority of its airing run, during the time which for the average person it would be at the height of its exposure and their awareness of it, since it's new and on-air, and this can sadly influence some people away from watching it (those who base their decisions on what to choose to watch or not upon the ratings). But it will probably go up, at least a little bit, when it's finished airing and all the people watching who watch the entirety of it and who don't rate anything until completing it fully, like me, give their ratings.

Seeing more of Akari is already a plus for this episode, The kid and super Mina are nice editions into the show. Honestly a show can have even just 1 character that steals the show and ill end up loving it just because of that one character. In this shows case its the combined characters which i like. If it was just snake eyes and Mina I probably wouldn't like this show a lot.

Really nice beach episode, although it wasn’t simply beach fun, we had the plot of Takuma helping out a Super Mina in finding her master, as well as the other end of the situation with Akari and the Mina we know and love helping out Rihito in finding his Super Mina. There were some tribulations along the way but eventually they found each other again, and after the robo babes discussed things at a rapid pace in their own way, it was finally time for some beach fun, the montage was pretty cute. I also wanted to mention how cute Mina looked in this one, once again Akari is a master at dressing her up, and also getting her boob grabbed lol.

And the Super Mina is definitely an interesting contrast to the Mina we’re used to, you can barely tell she’s a robot and is more improved in every way except for how she can get sidetracked very easily, she’s a nice addition but there’s something about Mina being more like a robot that makes her more appealing, and also just more fun in general. And at the end we got to see what was on that SD card Mina lent to Akari, I thought that would be something that would come up later in the show but it looks like it just has pictures of Takuma on it, that just made Mina even cuter lol, it’s possible it’ll still come up later tho. And that very last scene was so cute man, falling asleep looking into your robot wife’s eyes, a great end to a great episode.

another peak episode dare I say, something about a robot wife is just so interesting when compared to the dozens of rom-coms that come with the same formula (not knocking on them because they are popular for a reason it’s just not my cup of tea)

I was very scared that somehow the memory card was going to be overwritten by the photo they were going to take so I’m glad it all worked out well

I noticed that the super Mina is more expressive and has her entire body covered up by fake skin so she looks more human-like unlike the regular Mina but at least this super Mina doesn't seem to be as smart although that could be intentional. Regarding the SD card, I figured it had memories of Takuma that she wanted saved.

This show deserves at least a 7 in my opinion, I actually think the concept is making some people just vote low, kinda strange. Really enjoying it so far. I love all the moments that they kinda leave ambiguous and make you think she might be sentient. A show like this could go so many ways, but I'm just hoping for the good old happy ending lol.

This story has grown on me. Mina is an intelligent machine with a directive to help and please her master. The lonely Takuma is happy that this "Mina" is behaving like a good wife.
Learning what he likes and providing it. He feels love for her. Is this love real?
I'm sure people will have many opinions about this. But Takuma Kosugi is happy.

Sweet, fun episode. There were, to be fair, still a couple of moments that bugged me, but the majority of the episode was adorable.

I can't tell whether this show just doesn't think through its implications regarding rights and freedoms. Some of the themes are going to keep bugging me in that regard, but in net I did enjoy the story and the humor and the character development this episode.

It's kind of amusing how Super Mina looks and sounds younger but is taller than Mina. Didnt expect Super Mina to wind up being roboADHD.

Awe Rihito is worried that his parents would get rid of Super Mina.

Well, cuddling together on the same futon is quite hard given Mina's robot strength, Takuma just can't get used to it.

The beach episode is here, and it's not just Mina on the beach, but it's also yet another Mina: the household Super Mina version looking for her owner, which is more expressive than the cooking model that Mina is. And while Akari dolls Mina up, his wife found the owner of Super Mina: a boy who looks dejected, and desperately wants to find because she could be doing so much more. Mina consoling the boy trusting that having Super Mina is not a mistake, while she is still finding irrelevant things other than her owner.

After a sibling call, Super Mina tries locating the boy by literally running from the ocean ground, and both Super Mina and Rihito are reunited, as well as both Mina Series robots with their superhuman telepathy. After that, it's just a good deal of fun at the beach for the group...and when taking pictures using the same SD card, it's full of pictures of Takuma, and it's a good save from Akari, though they'd have to settle for a standard smartphone camera.

All's well for a day's out of fun, both with humans and robots.

Not a fan of the "Super Mina" character.

Honestly, at first, I was unnerved as how "robotic" the original Mina character was, but I've realized it works well, to convey android technology in a realistic light. Not just through appearance or mannerisms, but speech patterns as well.

Now that we've been introduced to "Super Mina", I think it kind of defeats the purpose of the whole show. I understand that Super Mina is supposed to be "Super" and an upgrade, but the mannerisms are too human and lifelike, to the point of the character not even coming off like a robot. Not to mention how inefficient this "robot" is at times, literally losing its owner and not being able to retain a conversation because it has a distractible personality of its own.

Yeah, I know this is an anime. A fictional story. A "cartoon". We've seen very human-like robots in other anime too. But this one was pretty special because it dipped into the uncanny valley a bit. I've gotten used to the somewhat "primitive" nature of the original Mina. Its vacant stare and overly technical speech pattern. It was the DNA of this show. But to repeat myself, the attributes of "Super Mina" sort of defeat the purpose. For me, anyway. I think there are probably more *subtle* ways to make Super Mina "super", while remaining grounded in the technological art of androids that this story initially sought to explore.

Edit: I rewatched the episode. Yeah the fact that "Super Mina" doesn't even recognize that the MC isn't even her "master" upon hearing his voice doesn't make her very "super".

Edit: This show's still an 8 or 9 out of 10 for me, 4 episodes in. But my score my dip as characters grow more outlandish and stray from the precedents set by the first 3 episodes.

He just looks like a pretty average-tier Japanese anime guy. Can't see what anyone would find offensive or standout in his looks in any direction. He's the plain everyman type, intended for self-inserts from at least a portion of the audience. Nothing super handsome or ugly and grotesque.

@HyperlinkBlocked I'd say I'm more disheartened than upset. I admired this story for being so grounded and relatively mundane, it was a mature change of pace. I think I'll keep watching just to see how the OG Mina x MC dynamic pans out, but yeah, what an absolute shame they'd waste the story's potential by introducing other outlandish "robots" that don't even possess any robotic attributes. I was hoping that wouldn't be the case... but now that you've warned me, at least I won't get my hopes up going forward. I'm going in blind so that's definitely good to know.

@WaifuSandwich Oh, they definitely have robotic attributes. You're just anthropomorphizing them, and that's why it feels weird to you. They bring up this exact phenomenon in one of the later chapters, but the anime almost definitely isn't going to run that long. Fact of the matter is, you're used to robots being more like toasters, and washing machines, but in the anime, we've got robots that actually need to function in a world full of Humans, so they come programmed with their own robot personalities that, through a mix of convergent design, and the specific need for them to get along with Humans, ends up superficially resembling Human psychology.

Once the robots start talking about what fundamentally motivates them, you realize they're simultaneously more and less Human than you're thinking right now.

This beach episode was actually pretty good. I was mostly expecting fluff but it actually had a decent story. And it introduced some new characters that I hope will make more regular appearances.

It's cool that a Super Mina robot finally made a proper appearance. It was only a matter of time. But the robot is... a bit disappointing? For a premium version of the regular Mina series robot, it seems way too clumsy and prone to making mistakes. But maybe it's as Takuma's Mina said. Super Mina is loaded with so many features that maybe it's supposed to be a "jack of all trades but master of nothing" type of robot. Something that's molded by its human master to become an expert and a unique robot that's perfectly suited for its master. But besides its expressive features, it seems like a waste of money to buy if your main purpose is to do house chores, which the Super Mina might not be able to do effectively at first.

But my cynic self doesn't buy it. It seems to me more like both Minas are just selling and puffing each other up so the humans would have a positive view of its manufacturer and give them more money lol. There's no way corpos wouldn't take advantage of these if such tech becomes a reality. The gaming industry has changed my perception of a lot of things. But this is anime so I guess I should suspend my disbelief more. It's just harder to do than usual.

Wait, that memory card was just full of photos of Takuma? That's... something. I guess Mina did say that the crucial data are already uploaded to the cloud. But I was thinking that maybe this SD card holds backups of Mina's memories with Takuma. But I suppose photos of Takuma ARE memories. I just thought they'd be more like raw data than pictures that a regular camera could read.

This ep was a little bit more crowded and there was limited amount of mina and mr mc time. not sure when we'll see super mina again.
It was a curious difference though.

Wasnt expecting the memory card thing to come up again so soon, is it going to be a recurring thing?
