First one I deliberately watched as anime after learning what anime even is, was 「Slayers」in 2003.

First ones I remember watching without knowing they were anime are 「Ninja Senshi Tobikage」,「Robin Hood no Daibouken」and「Shirayuki Hime no Densetsu」

I think my first anime that really got me into anime was Robotech. I don't really remember watching anything before that but I probably did. This was before pokemon even came out over here.

Death note in 2015. My older brother used to watch on pc. I just sat beside him and watched it. Though i missed a few episodes here and there. I was 9 and didn't really understand much of what i was watching. My brother used to explain most of the things to me.

@mshfqtny Exactly the same happened with me lol. But in my case it's mha s1 with my cousin. :)
But it's so good, I've never known anybody like you
But it's so good, I've never dreamed of nobody like you
And I've heard of a love that comes once in a lifetime
And I'm pretty sure that you are that love of mine

So not including the anime I watched as a kid like dragon ball, pokemon etc. Then my 1st anime I watched was Vampire Knight in August 2013, but I didn't get fully interested until I started watching anime properly in March 2014 and the anime that really got me interested was Magi

I actually can't remember since I was exposed to anime since I was born but I would say dragonball. Those moments were really great and I remember how much I loved watching it even though I was too young to even understand what was happening lol

My older brother would watch Naruto, Bleach, Katekyo Hitman Reborn and i would sit beside him and watch it with him. One anime he watched that made me want to watch it actually by myself was Fairy Tail. It was back in 2013 Summer when i was 12.

Witchblade somewhere in 2007. I also remember trying out Higurashi and the 2003 FMA but ended up dropping both of those.

Unless you count stuff like Pokémon and Yu-Gi-Oh when I didn't even know what anime was. Then it'd be Pokémon in 1999.

My first anime was Welcome to the NHK. I watched this show approximately during aug-sep of 2018. This was my first show after learning what anime is, followed right after by Kyoukai no Kanata. But when I was a bit younger and didn't know what anime is, during those times I used to watch Beyblade Metal Saga and Pokémon.

City Hunter about 10 years ago. I never watched them as a child so cannot stand any childish ones like pokemon or dragon ball or any battle shonen.

I have managed to get on hold of 3 episodes of Kirby: Right Back at Ya! somehow but didn't really continued after that

Pokemon I didn't really buy into because I felt they butchered their crys.

First anime was Your Name, watched in the year it was released in 2017, close to when it became available digitally.

If movies don't count, then it'd be Steins Gate, which I watched shortly after Your Name.

And then after that, I don't remember the exact order, but I know they were:
-Sword Art Online
-Your Lie in April
-Violet Evergarden
-One Punch Man
-Attack on Titan S1

Technically Pokémon which I started in the early 2010s. I also watched Yo-Kai Watch for a little while in around 2016 and a few episodes of Doraemon while on holiday. The first anime that I finished was Sonic X which I started in late 2019. Excluding adaptations of video games, and ones that I watched abroad, The first anime I watched was My Neighbour Totoro which I watched in early 2020, with the first series being Little Witch Academia (also early 2020). If you want to get really technical, it could be the Astro Boy movie which I watched in either 2009 or the early 2010s (though it's an American/Hong Kong adaptation of the manga).

Blend S, January 2018. The reason I got into it was because Pewdiepie mentioned that the show the meme was from was actually good. I viscerally cringed throughout, but was open-minded enough to appreciate how entertaining it was, and my anime watching continued from there.

When I was younger, it was Astro Boy (2003), but I don't have any recollection.

I always think about this question, because it's been so long, and I know I got to watch Mach GoGoGo, or Candy Candy on TV, I'm just that old at this point, but I wasn't aware those were "anime" and then much later when I was 11 or something, I watched Slayers and I finally knew what anime was, because I compared it with things like Sailor Moon and finally understood that these funny cartoons that make these funny and unique expressions are made in Japan, this must have been around 1998, I wonder which show came first for me tho, I'm going with Slayers here, but it could have easily been Evangelion or Card Captor Sakura, it all happened so fast.

First anime was Assassination Classroom when it first released back in 2015. Stopped watching for a while until Dr. Stone and Demon Slayer released in 2019.

Kids anime? Doraemon in Cantonese dub, a long time ago.

I must have watched a few episodes of Sonic X here and there starting in around 2006, but the first TV anime I ever completed was Fullmetal Alchemist in 2013. It wasn't until about a year after that when I started seriously watching anime, in the Fall 2014 season.

Not sure what the very first was. Either DBZ, Sailor Moon, Pokemon, or Digimon, back in the late 90's. As for when I kinda knew it was anime? Stuff on the Toonami block and [adult swim] in the early 2000's, like Gundam Wing.

When I was very young, I watched shows like Maya the Bee and The Noozles. At the time I did recognize there was something noticeably different about them but I had no idea there was anything called "anime".

Later, in the 90s I watched Tenchi Muyo, knowing exactly what I was getting myself into. Ryouko became my first wife!

Not counting stuff like Pokémon/Digimon or The Wonderful World of Puss 'n Boots, my first real foray into anime was Attack on Titan in 2014.

It’s weird that I got into manga a few years earlier by finding Ginga Nagareboshi Gin when I was looking for something similar to the Warrior cats series. I was potentially reading eromanga before that though, it’s kind of fuzzy in my memory.
and i guess

that i just don't know

I used to wonder if I started on Naruto or Dragon Ball because, during that time, CN was airing both of these cartoons. But if I were to try and remember correctly, it started when I was in kindergarten, while Naruto was airing, during the Forest of Death arc.

Dragon Ball Z when I was around 4 or 5. It used to come on television and my neighbour gave me a couple of VHSs of the series for one of my birthdays (mostly of Buu Saga and the movies like Lord Slug and Super Android 13).

And if we're not counting childhood shows like that, I'd say my first foray into the world of more adult-oriented anime and manga came when my mom got me a volume of the Samurai Champloo manga when I was 10, not knowing that was very much not for kids. I'd also stumble across an episode of the Dezaki Black Jack OVA on Animax a year later when I was channel surfing at a friend's place. I hadn't seen anything like it, and I'd say that was the moment that turned me into an anime fan for life.
