Anyone else think this episode was just a little degrading to wolves? I understand why Kiba tried to attack them. But wtf @ Toboe, Hige, and Tsume...They just stood there. Kiba needed some back-up! lol
Honestly, I thought that the system they use works. I mean at least they get something out of the work they do, so It's not technically slavery... What made me angry was how they were treated.
That hurt to watch...the other three were shocked and angry, but not as angry as Kiba was. After all, he has the most pride in being a wolf. I like how Kiba still believes that there is paradise, not sure if he's just young as the older wolves say, or if he's naive, or if he has really good instincts and that there really is one.
Pretty good episode that shows the path of the dreamers and the path of the realists. You cannot exactly say the wolves of that city are wrong. Kiba's path just takes a lot of risk.
Ah, finally started rewatching this again!
This episode is pretty good.
It shows how much desperation and loss of hope can really deplete your pride.
Anyone, including wolves, will do anything to survive.
Kiba is the only exception that he almost values his pride above his life, which is the reason the other three are so drawn to him. Their own wolf blood is rekindled with his spirit.
The idea of the wolf pride came back in this episode. The scene with the wolves forced to work like dogs and forced to abandon their wolf's pride really struck me, as well as the four boys' reactions to it, especially Kiba's.
There's no such thing as paradise of course, those wolves realised that and now they live like a bunch of disgraced dogs, can't blame them. Now I think the journey of our pack will come to a sad end. And poor gramp, he had a dream to reach paradise once, now he has to die like that.
The old wolves have to work somehow, and if that meant being basically the equivalent to puppets, then that is their choice to make. Understandable Kiba and the others aren't exactly happy with it. Tough for them, tbh.
So digging a grave is the same as a death flag, eh. I'll keep that in mind for the future.
Paradise is actually Hell, quite an unusual thing, isn't it? I suppose Kiba and co will begin looking for Cheza, the original, strong source of the Lunar Flower scent. Kiba seems to have forgotten about it.
It's that one episode in adventure anime where their goal becomes fuzzy and unclear and conflicts emerge, they get into this new place and something horrible happens there. Honestly I'm a bit disappointed, there are a lot of cliches so far.
