So far chainsaw man Part 2 Seems better imo, with better-developed characters, interesting motives, and backstories and a much stronger world-building aspect. It feels a lot better paced as well as giving stronger exposition, I'm loving it so far and I'm on chapter 104, should catch up by the end of the day.
REGULAR SHOW TROUNCES ANY ANIME. PEAK FICTION

We protect other species because humans themselves are lonely creatures. We protect the environment because humans themselves don’t want to go extinct. What drives us is simply self-gratification. But I think that’s fine, and that it’s really all there is to it. There’s no point in despising humans by human standards. That’s right. So in the end, it’s hypocritical for us to love Earth without loving ourselves.

I can't really agree with that (as of yet anyways). Part 2 has barely started while Part 1 has 97 chapters under its belly. I'm liking the slower pace of Part 2 but I honestly miss the high octane batshit insane vibe that Part 1 gave off. I'm sure Fujimoto will get the story going again tho very soon.

For me I think it feels really nice to have the world-building, I feel like part 1 could have been stronger if a few more chapters were dedicated to that

I agree, really like part 2 so far. The premise is more interesting to me than the one in the first part. Personally like Asa as a main character more than Denji. I also really like the character interactions so far.

Wouldn't really personally mind if the pacing remained the same for the rest of the series, I don't even know why some people have issues with the pacing.

I agree 100% I love Denji sm, but I think its cool to see him as a co-protagonist

Lol I heavely disagree. Part 1 was a masterpiece, all the characters were super interesting and there was no boring moment with great fast paced arcs one after another.
So far part 2 is boring. I don't really care about the characters and the feeling that I had in part 1 is missing.
I'ts not bad, but it's just ok... probably I give part 2 6/10 so far...

I think it's still too early for me to say for sure, since Part 2 is still at its beginning phase and isn't close to being done yet. But, if I had to compare the entirety of Part 1 to what we currently have in Part 2, then I'd say Part 1 is better. I do have to agree that the slower pacing of Part 2 so far is a very nice change of pace from the fast-paced turbulence of Part 1.

No and I doubt it will ever be in my eyes.

Feels like one of those "sequels" that have nothing to do with the original except MC being mentioned here and there. Star Wars new trilogy or American Psycho 2 or Son of the Mask. Or, wait a sec, a cheap fanfiction would be a better comparsion, something written by 15 yo girl, of course, with her as new MC self-insert, who is surrounded by hot boys and gets cool mistique powers oh and also also she's SOOOO DIFFERENT.

I really wish they would put it as a different entry, so the score of Part 1 wouldn't be so affected in my list, also I would just drop it altogether, while having original as "finished". It's not ChainsawMan, it's ChainsawMan 2: Yoru The War Devil.

It's been pretty disappointing for me. Part 1 was amazing. Part 2 is just pretty meh at best. I also just don't like that Denji has been downgraded to a comedic relief side character instead of the main character he's supposed to be.

Disagree strongly. So far it’s been disappointing. The sense of wonder about what the hell was going on is completely absent here and the new characters are bland and forgettable.
But high school settings sell so I can see this being very popular.

Yes so far I'm enjoying it more than part 1. Asa is a better and more interesting main character than Denji

It’s ok so far, it’s still too early to tell. I do like the developing relationship between asa and yoru tho. The chapters are far too short tho.

I think it's wayyyyyyyy to soon to even bother trying to discuss whether it's better or not. Also part 1 was a bit underwhelming until the attack on public safety which was like at least 25-30 chapters in.

For now I'm really liking it. I think switching to Asa and Yoru's perspective and doing a bit of a slow burn build up was smart. Would've been near impossible for part 2 to come in guns blazing and top all the insanity of craziest arcs from part 1. So backing off from denji being the main character for a bit and focusing on developing Asa was seems like a pretty good move...

But can't really say for sure until they start paying this all off and actually get a few arcs in

I think the highs of part 1 haven't been reached yet at all, but I also think that's because part 2 is only just starting and Fujimoto is the type of guy to make you wait and wait and wait for the payoff and to make the payoff completely unexpected, so I'm withholding almost all my thoughts/comparisons until part 2 is done because I can tell I have absolutely zero idea what's coming. I will say, though, that I'm super excited to see where part 2 goes-- Fujimoto just keeps improving as a mangaka at a really rapid pace, and I think things like his paneling, setup, etc. have continued to improve since part 1, if his one-shots and the little we've gotten of part 2 are anything to go by.

I think part 2 will be better looking back in the future however as of now the pacing is dreadfull to read weekly/biweekly. The slow pace is great in the long run but waiting 2 weeks for basicly nothing to happen in a bit disappointing, hopefully the current arc ends soon and i will be able to put it on hold.

i think it's pretty decent, i mean Fujimoto doing a high school setting is interesting but honestly not gonna give my opinion since we are just two volumes in and counting

It's not and anyone that truly believes that is coping so fucking hard. I feel like the fanbase's overall reaction to part 2 is based on cope. Just admit that Fujimoto's approach to part 2 is not what you were expecting and it is indeed inferior to part one in more ways than one.

You know people can have a different opinion than you on a story right? If someone genuinely believes Part 2 is better than they are right. Fiction is subjective and people like different stuff. I can tell you multiple things that early part 2 is doing better than early part 1. I don't have to cope to like it. I don't understand this kind of reasoning at all.

No Aki and a downgraded role for Denji. It seems like Fujimoto just wanted to force a fmc upon us for change ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿฝ‍โ™‚๏ธ
Well, male or female, not having Denji as the mc is a buzzkill for me personally. Hopefully that changes but I doubt it…

Unfortunately you’re right. At least his story ended well. I don’t see part 2 ever coming close to that part of the manga

I thought the overall reaction was that this was more negatively received compared to part 1? Maybe I was mistaken?

true, I'm loving this part, especially the interactions between asa and denji and also between nayota and denji. nayota is really making this season special, i feel denji is evolving with nayota and they both seem like real siblings. also asa and her devil are evolving together too making it more interesting.

Part 2, eh? Better direction and more refined storytelling, but the story - after a promising start - started going downhill pretty fast. Part 1 didn't feel incredible to me, but at least enjoyable to read for the most of time. Part 2, on the other hand, became dull at some point and the dullness made me drop this manga in the end.

@samsince04 From my basic experience, expecting balanced opinion from Chainsaw Man fanbase's members is pointless. Chances to meet actually alright people are minimal.

@JetAway Yes, that's what I meant when saying about Part 2 going downhill pretty fast. There was big potential for a decent sequel, the start was solid and felt fresh, I liked the atmosphere shift a lot... but after a good first impression and really nice first chapters, the story started becoming chaotic, messy and eventually powerfully uninspiring. It reached the point of feeling neither as old CSM nor "new, but good" manga. "Cliffhanger bait and switch chapters with no payoff" you mentioned is a good way to put the main, general problem of Part 2.

I can't say whether anything changes or not, regarding issues I had myself with Part 2. I'm not motivated enough to even check it out, not to mention giving the story a second chance.

I kinda agree but since part 1 is already finished and the last arc of chainsawman is still the best on the series, well see how part 2 will end to form a solid opinion which part is better.......

Aside from detesting the protagonist for how immature and perverted he is,
this insight seems very reassuring, because I actually hated Chainsaw Man Part 1 for how nonsensical it all is without any depth of clarity and explanation or hints to how a lot of things happen, including how the great powerful Makima died. What a joke that was.

I've never read Part 2 yet for how disappointing this Manga is from its lackluster world build and stupid characters.
I like everything else from Fujimoto, but this his worst most overrated work.
Although, Fire Punch is also flawed and overrated, but anyway.

If Part 2 somehow explains all the bs of a mess Part 1 was, I might like it in the end.
