As it is now, it just looks out of place when you go though the isekai tag. The show is also very obviously an avant grade. It has everything it needs to have to be counted as one, so I'm honestly surprised it hasn't been marked as one already. it's experimental in visual, story telling and even music. there is honestly no argument to be made against it not being one. |

The gaming stuff is just the setting. And comedy ... there is just more of a subtext only of this. While it is not the usual romance with a clear/strict development and conclusion it is pretty evident that most other stuff of the definition used by the linked Google spreadsheet applies. The main char mostly things about his feelings to the girl. He is still just a bit too childish/shy - to admit these. (Therefore not too bluntly stating them.) Still feels more deep and more progressing (cause of the focus on the feelings he has) than most shoujo that are prolonged by misunderstandings (no progress there). The setting is also kinda special cause the girl does not talk. We mainly get to see the male main character. Still pretty good writing and in depth-focus. Comedy + romantic subtext ... gives the wrong impression ... since the story basically is almost only about the relationship between male main and the femaile main love interest. (With some other stuff added that does not realyl take the main focus - at least not for too long.) Same goes for the sequels (OVA and a 2nd season). If at all ... then I'd say this is a Romance + "Comedy subtext" (but for comedy a subtext thing does not exist I think). A lot of heartwarming scenes from the main caring about the girl - and the focus on the feelings. While for comedy ... sometimes it feels "ighthearted" cause of some scenes. (No hard laughs like in a typical slapstic or your "usual" RomCom - while most websites afaik consider it RomCom though.) AniDB has a 3 stars for romance on this ... for the anime Gamers only 1 (which here gets the romance full genre tag). Edit: Or another thing to summarize/explain it: Imo it is not a romantic subtext. It feels like one though - to viewers that might not pay that much attention. Because the chars can't be too blunt about their feelings towards each other (making it feels only like a subtext) cause of the setting/reasons. (Girl not speaking. Mail char still at a young age.) But there is soo much struggle because of the feelings. The "subtext" only tag ... feels blatantly wrong/misleading here. If even Oregairu has full romance (where the subtext might be more fitting - I might consider making a separate request for it to change to subtext there). |

Also maybe some sort of feedback as to why a request has been rejected or some clarification on "detailed" would be nice, as many changes don't require and would be very difficult to make long detailed explanations for. The whole "detailed reasoning" scared me off of making any requests for a bit. |
