While playing in the snow one day at her shrine, the land god Nanami Momozono witnesses her familiar—the fox youkai Tomoe—collapse, with dark markings appearing on his body. Tomoe's former master, Lord Mikage, appears after his long absence and places Tomoe into a magical pocket mirror in order to stave off his ailment.
Mikage explains that long ago, before he and Tomoe had met, the fox youkai was in love with a human woman. Seeking to live as a human with his beloved, he made a deal with a fallen god, but he only ended up cursed and dying. When Mikage discovered Tomoe, the god made the youkai forget his human love as a quick solution. However, something has changed recently to reactivate the curse; Tomoe has fallen in love with his new human master, Nanami. Since there is no way to stop the curse, Nanami wants to stop Tomoe from getting cursed in the first place by traveling back through time, even if it means they may never meet. As Nanami travels back hundreds of years to save her precious familiar, she discovers that she is far more closely bonded to Tomoe than she previously thought.
Ok, i know the anime hasn't finished yet, but i have read the manga so i know how much i love it already and if you have an issue with this review just go to the next one. It is hard to talk about it without giving anything away, but ill do my best!
This was my favourite part of the anime AND the manga so far. It shows everyone how Tomoe doesn't remember anything about Yukiji and Akuraou anymore. Nanami is forced to back into the past to help Tomoe survive by stopping an ancient contract between him and a mysterious fallen god. In this part of Kamisama Hajimemashita, there is lots of development between Nanami and Tomoe. The romance is up to perfection in my opinion and the comedy is still rocking like it has been for the whole series.
The art is beautiful and full of colour and light. It is a consistent style, as in not changing in every season and the character design is wonderful.
The voice acting was amazing! It portrayed the characters emotions wonderfully! the back ground music was also chosen appropriately and it wasn't always one trace playing in the back.
Especially in Nanami and Tomoe's case, the characters were astounding! When everyone heard what happened to Tomoe, he refused to let Nanami see him in that state, which i thought was exactly something Tomoe would do. And Nanami going into the past to save him was something you could expect her to do....yet ....it was also unexpected! Nice curve ball thrown at the audience :)
Love isn't big enough a word that can express how good this anime is.
I think the only 2 flaws that this has is that:
1. Not enough of it
2. The slow releases are so frustrating!!
I really hope you guys give this a shot! But handy hint: Watch the seasons in order!!!! don't start with this one other wise it won't make any sense. And i also think you should read the manga! read more
Before I start, this is my first review, so it might suck. Also, I've read the manga volumes that this four part OVA covers, so take that how you want to.
Story 9/10- At the time of writing this, only the first of the 4 OVAs have been released. Like I said before, I've read the manga, and I really love the story. I think that this animated version will do a good job of pacing, if the first one is anything to base my judgment on. Can't wait for more!
Art 7/10- I felt like the art wasn't as sharp as the actual show is, but when you think about how this is an OVA, I guess it's okay. Some parts of the art didn't look that great, like Tomoe's curse marks (that texture was so ugly). You could tell that the animators didn't really add that much actual movement into the animation. Still, the art was above average for sure, and didn't go off model or anything.
Sound 8/10- Not much to say. They used a lot of the songs from the OST of the show, which I thought was nice. Voice acting was pretty good.
Character 9/10- Again, not much to say. The "new" characters introduced (I say that because Yukiji isn't really new, but this is the first time where she gets developed) are good, and will probably get some character development in the future.
Overall, I had a really good time watching this. I didn't want it to end, and I wish I didn't have to wait so long for the next one. Give this a shot if you are a fan of the original.
I'm a big fan of this anime series, and have read the manga, so I know what happens throughout these four episodes. On one hand I'm happy to be able to continue this series, but on the other I'm not sure how this will span out considering in the manga it is the part of this series that is the most romance filled , and so spreading it through only 4 half an hour episodes may feel rushed. Hopefully not.
Although, the story that comes along with this is really fun and sweet to watch, especially if you've watched the past episodes in the first and second seasons that build up to this part and builds the relationship. Which is what I think is the most enjoyable aspect of this anime; it doesn't rush. Which is why I am worried for this due to it being condensed into 4 parts.
In this you learn more about the relationship with Yukiji and Tomoe, as well as Tomoe's past. It also answers some questions from past episodes, such as the eye that was in Nanami's stomach and how/why it got there.
Still, I would recommend it to anyone for obvious reasons.read more
I can't help loving the anime, the love between tomoe and nanami is so adorable .
After knowing that tomoe was in love with yukiji for 500 years which was none other than nanami is so amazing i just can't get my smile off my face.Third ova was really amazing and am really excited to see the fourth ova which is the last ova.
I want this anime to go on forever, i never want it to end.
The story was turning to be pretty awesome from the first season so i gave 10/10.
Actually everything was pretty amazing so i gave 10 to story, art, sound, character, enjoyment etc.,
But it's so frustrating that the duration between ova's to release is so long. read more
