I didn’t enjoy the last episode as much as most people did. I get that it’s a culmination of all their hard work and such, but it was pretty much bleh. Drawing and animation are great, but that was it. I disliked how Erika pretty much stole the show and played the piano AND the violin when Komichi was thinking she’d do it all by herself. I pretty much think at this point that Erika is jealous of Komichi and somehow trying to get everyone’s attention away from Komichi. Of course Komichi wouldn’t feel that way and is happy that her friend is performing with her. But for me, on a personal level, it’s a pretty crappy move on Erika lol.
My brain: Yorozuya Gin-chan -> Yozakura Quartet = Yorozuya Quartet (this is how much Gintama has affected me).

Finally managed to watch EP 12 with proper subs, better late than never.

Wow, this final episode turned out very festive. The atmosphere of the concert hall and the connection between Akebi and Kizaki with the audience was truly sensual. The interweaving of the events of the sports festival into the final dance of Akebi fully complemented the history of the first joint year of the 1-3 class. My favourite part was that epic volleyball rally where Akebi won it all with a shot from the abyss (Vashio's cameo was also very powerful there). And I felt that victorious tiredness when Akebi and Kizaki met on the next day.

Series as a whole became a pleasant surprise for me in this season as I sucked into watching it blind-folded. Komichi's story, drawn with such bright fresh colors, did a wonderful job of keeping the mood throughout the show. There is a big difference between urban smog and forest air and this show absolutely peaks as a life-giving spring. Almost all the characters were presented with love and genuine origin, just like every small note together constitutes a gorgeous melody. Besides the obvious pair of Akebi sisters I also liked Usagihara, Nawashiro and a little sprinkle of Drama Club President.

Yeah, and speaking of melodies, I've never listened to an anime song as much as I did the "Hajimari no Setsuna" OP since Shadows House "Nai Nai" ED last year.

There's nothing much to add, I don't have a habit of rewatching but this show might be an exception to the rule. Looking forward for a possible S2.

And with that another anime enters my completed list!!!!! 'Akebi's Sailor Uniform' was really fun to watch and I mean it!!!! This show was the very definition of how SOL anime should be!!! Just showing us the everyday life of our MC and nothing more. The ending was awesome!!! Both Akebi's and Erica's performances were good. I would really like to see a season 2 of this show!!!!

one of the best endings I've seen this season. Komichi dance while Kizaki plays the piano.. how they recall the events of the day. It's just all amazingly put together.

hoping for a season 2.

Hm, I have mixed feelings.. I have this feeling that they tried too hard to make this last episode impactful, when all of that was not actually necessary. Something more easy going would have been better in my opinion.

I enjoyed the first half way more 8/10

The second half I think it was fine 6/10

Needless to mention, art and animation are incredible. It´s been a time since I stopped to think how an art/animation was this beautiful.

In general, I feel like giving this anime 7.5/10, but unfornutely it´s not possible (at these times, I remember of MyDramaList, good job in adding the 0.5 xD ).

Such a wonderful way to end the season. Instead of causing grief because Akebi-san did things differently, everyone took the love she gave and embraced it. Such a great portrayal of positivity and the human spirit! Moe yes. Kawaii yes. Subtle echii yes but such a positive anime. I loved it. ❤️

I agree, this is how slice of life should be done. Excellent production quality, very likeable main girl, can appeal to a broad enough audience young and mature alike.

Positive vibes galore, and this final episode sealed it nicely. I'd watch a second season for sure.

Beautiful, as was the entire series. I guess this will the only 9th series I've ever deemed worthy of a 10/10.

Now where's my OP single? What do you mean I can't buy the by far best song of this season (yet?)?

Finally we can stream and download it on Spotify since last February, I give you the link for the playlist

Looks like it indeed only exists as a digital release or worse, streaming. Well, if they don't want my money, I really can't force them to take it...

I've been really pleased with this anime adaption as a whole but this last episode really clenched it for me.
I think this series has always been primed for an adaption because the manga is so focused on movement.

I think in many ways this anime adaption has trumped the original manga and this episode was proof of that. That volleyball scene has me in tears every god damn time I see it.
It was just beautiful.

Wow, what a disappointment of a last episode. 4/5 of it was a fucking recap episode.

I have been iffy with this anime. On the one hand, it is really well animated and I dig cute SOL CGDCT anime.

On the other hand, the School admins were morons who fucked Akebi over and that hit super close to home. Sure they allowed her to still wear it, but that was still fucked up. The whole swim race was also uselessly unneeded tension that ruined my enjoyment. Lastly, this episode was a complete waste.

I wanted to love this, I got some enjoyment out of it, sure. But that's 3/12 episodes that are unwatchable for me. I cannot put this higher than a 7.

I will really miss this series! This is such a pure and inspiring episode.
Pure relationships with one another like it is just a dream for this day and age. 。:゚(;´∩`;)゚:。
I did hope for some screentime for the other characters but the real message did reached me.
It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.

Very cute, and wholesome show that has amazing art and animation that also hides some hidden fetishes??

Either way it's a great slice of life that sorta reminds me Komi where she tries to make friends with everyone. With this she sometimes spends a episode on 1 or two new people and without enough screen time I often forget who's who.

animations, visual qualities are very good, and it's ok to be attracted to well drawn teenage girls. don't let any pseudo ethical officers make u feel bad while watching this show.
didn't recognize leg or feet fetish was a big thing while watching, it wasn't too obtrusive for me, it's there when i thought about it but, it's subtle enough to bypass the accusation of being a show that blatantly promotes smelly or based fetishes.
Female MC was alone like Komi san but she overcomes any obstacles thrown at her. she is kinda OP. she's a saint with a great physique. i mean, i have no big complaints there. it's slice of life where failure&depression are a temporary thing and it should always end with positivity, so i understand.
had no disappointment throughout the episodes. they were pretty enjoyable and pretty.

anyway, it was a wholesome sol show with great visuals. i think i like teenage girls than ever before. 8/10.

This episode really highlights how central Akebi is in everyone's lives. She's always hopping and running back and forth, maintaining a constant fascination in everyone's lives for reasons of what I can only interpret as an unbridled, unrelenting amount of passion to live life to its fullest. It's almost absurd just how important she is to everyone, but I suppose she helps fill in the various voids everyone has in their own individual lives. That being said, it's crazy how multi-talented Akebi is, doing everything from cheerleading, to swimming, to volleyball, to dancing at such a high level.

With that dance performance, I loved how Erika performed full piano and violin accompaniment. That was incredibly heartfelt and wonderful in terms of audiovisuals. Although, my only criticism were the moments when we could hear both the violin and piano simultaneously. If it's necessary to have both, I would have preferred having them alternate, implying that Erika is switching between the two. Otherwise, it makes it seem like Erika somehow spawned an extra set of arms and is playing both at the same time.

Overall, this anime is extremely mundane, but as slice of life anime go, it's what I've come to expect. That being said, it's also incredibly picturesque, with some of the highly detailed cuts and moments of sakuga breathing immense amounts of vibrance into the show. It doesn't do anything particularly special, but as far as anime that helps you forget worldly troubles and just enjoy fun characters enjoying life as friends, Akebi's Sailor Uniform absolutely delivered.

Ngl, the story is just okay for a CGDCT but somehow the visuals pulls me in so bad the show becomes way enjoyable than before. Just like how I don't care about Marvels but their CGI and fights are visually gorgeous so I watch it at times when it airs on tv. Well, I actually care about this show but the point is, I'm giving this an 8 because the visuals was too good.

This anime was just wow and omg, the animation quality was top notch if im being honest, also the whole anime was wholesome.

The piano + violin and the dancing from Akebi gave the anime an awesome finale, even the other girls who did their best at the athletic festival, I couldn't ask for more. At the end class 3-1 WON! They should be proud of themselves.

I'm happy Akebi got to make so much friends and have an incredible time with them, Akebi always cared about others and gave her ultimate best, her energetic level is amazing.

I'm glad i discovered this anime.

I disliked how Erika pretty much stole the show and played the piano AND the violin when Komichi was thinking she’d do it all by herself. I pretty much think at this point that Erika is jealous of Komichi and somehow trying to get everyone’s attention away from Komichi.
That's a mistaken assumption. Even if we focus solely on Ep12, when Akebi walks onto stage she notes she can't see / hear anything as if underwater. The sheer size of audience and the event's magnitude weights her down. Erika promptly enters and voila, Akebi is good to glide! She was a loner in grade school after all, her dream has been to make friends and now her best friend is up there to contribute all she's got.

Just think about it: initially Akebi was to perform a "tribute" dance routine for a heavily produced commercial idol, set to heavily produced canned music. That would have been a very uncanny watch so to say, no matter how much charm Akebi extudes. Forehead girl realized Erika could make the performance come live but in real life that would have cost a million yen, as she is revealed to be an
in the manga. A herd of high-school girls who can't tell good and bad music apart (stated so frankly in Bocchi the Rock!) offers nothing worth stealing to Erika but the same event means everything to Akebi.

When the dance-music performance ends and Akebi bows on stage, Erika is initially reluctant to step into the limelight. Only after Akebi motions to her does she move to hold hands and they bow towards the audience together. She wasn't trying to steal anything from her friend waifu and couldn't, even if she tried

I think your misunderstanding of Ep12 stems from over-enthusiasm of Cloverwork animators as they wrapped Erika in full royal wedding garment, not particularly suited for music performance (plus laundry costs as she was dragging a nine-yard tail on the floor the whole time...) Thus her presence became exaggerated and some may feel that happened at the expense of poor Akebi. At the end of the anime, however, there is a colour still of Class 1-3, drawn by the mangaka Hiro, where Erika wears a more realistic knee-lenght white dress

Aside from Ep12, already in the swimming competition episode one can witness Erika shamelessly promote Akebi for the class team's freestyle anchor position. She's not trying to steal anything from Akebi, she wants to challenge her interesting and funny waifu and watch her smile as a reward, plus more...

The final episode was not as good as the other ones, in my opinion, as it was mostly a recap of the series and I felt that Komichi's dance went a bit too long but her dance moves were good.

After watching Bocchi the Rock and reviewing CloverWorks (CW) catalog of anime I decided to watch this since I was impressed by the visuals from Bocchi. CW really does pay attention to detail in the various scenes in the animes they animate and this anime was no exception. The visuals were incredible, such as details from the way the girls played their instruments, the way animals such as fish and insects were drawn, the countryside such as Komichi's home and the lake where her and Erika fished, they were all visualized really well. However, the faces at times were drawn a little odd, such as Kei's face, but I mostly got used to that as I watched the series. The storyline was a little slow but this was mostly a SoL and CGDCT so it was relaxing at least.

I rate this a 7/10 as I still mostly enjoyed it and it was a bit nostalgic for me in so far as part of my childhood was lived in the countryside (not as beautiful as Komichi's but still nice) before the family moved to a city for the 2nd half of my childhood. I may read the manga as I'm a little curious to see how Komichi's and her family and friends' lives progress.

Boci the Rock compares to Akebi like a Banksy wall art compares to Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel... Beyond ep2 poor Boci didn't even contain partial animation as far as a I saw. I dropped half-way for cringe, not because of the girl as she isn't even half as psychotic as Tomoko in Watamote, but for how cringe the utter lack of animation was. After Akebi anime and the effort they tried to pour into Wonder Egg Priority, the CloverWorks Studio should be ashamed of releasing such a visual pollution as Boci.

Akebi anime's odd-face issue comes from its preserved manga origins but can be effectively worked around by setting the player or display to 16:10 screen aspect ratio, instead of the default 16:9, it just worked for me and others to whom I recommended it.

As for Akebi storyline being a little slow, do you compete in jet-powered dragster races? That girl is so hyper she would have been sedated by the school nurse after 5 minutes in real life, provided she could catch her... Akebi cycles through the class posse episode after episode like a machine gun. By ep6 she's bathing naked with her waifu, which took a whole 9 LN volumes for Adachi and Shimamura for example (app. 69th episode of the anime, had the series lasted that long), even though the latter franchise is officially yuri, not just a bait.

A fairly common sentiment in these comments but it bears repeating: this series really surprised me. I went in just expecting CGDCT but ended up with a much stronger emotional response than I anticipated. I's a very nice remainder of the importance of our relationships, and the value of being kind. The animation was very pleasing to watch and just overall a job well done by the studio. Even the Yuri elements were presented in a tasteful way, I thought. More of an extension of the relationship exploration than simply voyeuristic.
