Whoa, the opening scenes of this episode felt like something out of a horror movie.

Looks like this episode shows the last part of their joint camp training. They managed this episode feel like a lighthearted thriller. One of the more unique episodes of this season imo, definitely not something I had expected.

Bishounen gymnastics in Horror land, that's an unique opening.

The end of the joint training between Ao and Shiro High, what time well spent. So that horror scene was a night hide-and-seek competition initiated by Mashiro of all people, and of course, all similar and alternate school buddies are paired together, with the weirdly 3-pair of Futaba, Misato and Mashiro hiding together.

I'd swear both captains are such funny comedians of apples and sasakumas, and adding the personal pairing character personality stories that make up the light-heartedness of the episode's aesthetics. I sitll want to know who Shida's wife is...she definitely exists, after all.

If there's one thing these guys fail at, it's hide-and-seek amidst their troubling differences lols. In fact, Mashiro does a good job dissecting Futaba with his talents being an in-between of both Futaba and Misato, to at least give him a fighting personality.

This hide-and-seek definitely felt like a horror show gone so horribly wrong from start to finish with the security guard being "it" xD

boring filler episode. hope the plot resumes next week, I was really looking forward to seeing more development this week. plus the foil trope was way overused, literally every pair has a foil to each other so that they are always fighting. it got old really quickly. hope next week shows more promise; this is one of my favorites shows this season.

This episode is amazing! At first it looks like a filler episode with fanservice. Hiders are hiding with a similar rival couple. But it reveals that there are strikingly difference between them. Ranging from their taste to their past. Men in couple are the best!

I didn't even realize it was a filler just bc of how it began!! it was such a good episode imo,, I felt we got to see the characters personalities come out and I really enjoyed it !! it was funny and had horror elements that I thought was interesting,,, I don't think we will have another episode continuing this as I'm 99% sure it is a filler which I wish we had an explanation for it because I'm still curious about some of what happened,,, anyways i think it was a great ep, it gave me a better idea of who my favorite characters are so far ! 😌😌

This was... interesting. I didn't like the hide and seek idea at first but I think they made it entertaining enough. The problem it that it feels like there are just too many characters, some of the pairs worked (The two vice captains, the captains) while others felt like a waste.

I was hoping for more interactions between Shotaro and Misato since even Shotaro himself admitted he doesn't know the other much, but they got errr cock-blocked by the other guy, though it admittedly lead to some development for Shotaro.

This episode sure started with a creepy vibe only to out that they were actually playing hide and seek. LOL
I love both of those captains. Both are hilarious and have the same personality. Because of the hide and seek, both teams' respective counterparts got to know more of each other which was great. I enjoyed this episode, they sure added those horror elements to this show which was pretty unexpected from a show like this. But nonetheless, it was a good episode.

What the fuck that was rly a ghost, i actually got creeped out as fuck.

But i actually loved the ep a lot. i love how they directed it, it gave this creepy atmosphere.

Last ep i did think the pairs are carbon copies of each other (with exclusion of our vice captain bc he was paired with the flower dude before) but this ep showed that despite their similar interests their mindsets are actually different.

Plus im surprised the show actually admitted that except for his devotion and enthusiasm Futaba doesnt rly have a distinguish personality like the rest of the team. I actually dont think he has to have some because he lets me take a break from the overwhelming personalities of the rest of the team.

Lmao that beginning scene got me so good, I even stopped to check if I clicked on the right anime :'D

This was a really fun episode~ I can see why it can seem like a "filler" to some, but I loved watching the interactions between the characters, and it really fleshed out each of their personalities, making them seem more like real people. The director should work on a horror series next hahaha. The very last scene actually gave me chills. If they were ghosts, they were nice ghosts who brought them to the faculty room! Albeit a bit scary...

Additionally, we saw a bit more of the relationship between Misato and Mashiro! There's more to their relationship than what we were initially shown. I thought they were good friends (well, at least one-sidely, lol), but it seems like they're actually more like rivals. Misato looking angry at Mashiro was a new side of him that we haven't seen, and listening to Mashiro talk showed that he's not just some genki prodigy, he's in it for the competition (praise Murase's tone changes in this episode, so good).

Futaba was cute as always, being nervous about being alone with Misato and trying to see if they could become closer through small talk. I definitely feel that as a fellow introvert. When he made his declaration and stood up, I love how flustered Misato and Mashiro were, too.

The horror-themed episode was a success. I really enjoyed it. Mashiro showed us a different part of his personality that shows how much competitive he is.

Also, we finally knew that the coach actually has a wife lol. Not a relevant detail, but I'm glad they didn't keep it a mystery.

Why do so many sports animes have that one insanely creepy episode in the middle that never gets explained. This happened with Sk8 the Infinity last season too and and as I watch more I notice it more. The ended shot with the guard looking at the camera was so creepy!! (I don’t mean this in a hateful way. I think it’s funny and a good filler but still super creepy)

Well, this was different. Was also absolute fun and I enjoyed every single minute of it, I mean come ON! Hide-and-seek in school after dark, what could go wrong, right? The way the pairs' opposing traits surfaced and got louder and louder... typical boys indeed. Poor Kyouichi roaming the halls alone because Mashiro went off to find his Misa-pon... xD And A+ for the teachers who forgot about the night guard and never informed him - I wonder what the manager can get for those photos she snapped at the end, definitely prime blackmail material and I hope we get to hear about it later. xD

For SK8 i actually have an explanation for you. They had a quick flyer at the end briefly showing what it was but most ppl didnt catch it. The island they visited was Miyakojima and there is a festival there called Paantu. Basically men dress up in masks and cover themselves in mud. Then they spread mud all over everything: cars, houses and people. it's supposed to bring good luck for the next year. So SK8 cast unfortunately paid for their lack of local knowledge lmfao

another fun episode. the pairs that were having fun together last episode is (light heartedly) arguing in this one. but as enjoyable it was, it was also another progressless episode. only about 3 minutes of it was important and those things were:
-misato joined gymnastics since mid school, he inspired mashiro to do it
-the coach injured his leg, so thats probably why he isn't doing gymnastics anymore now
-coach's wife Is real and shes Not dead thank GODD LMAO i had a feeling she might've been dead

I had to look at the title again when the episode started because of the colour palette. haha I thought I have clicked the wrong anime somehow.

Futaba was so cute under the desk.

Misato's way of talking is so relatable. I also talk with one or two word answers.

The guy with Levi, Azuma, was also cute this episode. He got so embarrassed when he was called a child.

The coach has a sad backstory, it seems.

Misato, Futaba and Tsukishiro were in the same room, bonding. They are my polyamorous ship. lol

Tsukishiro and Futaba are soooooo adorable! They look like they'd be squishy if you hug them.

The twist ending was hilarious. All of the characters were escorted by Hanako-san, Umeko-san, Yuriko-san, Suzuko-san, Takako-san...

I know this was just a filler episode, but I wasn't annoyed at all. The characters had a bonding experience, and we also learnt about Misato, Tsukishiro and the coach.

The writing for this show is so good. I already like the plot; the humor made everything better. And what a star-studded voice cast!

Only issue:Misato sounds like Ash and looks like a mashup of him and Eiji and I'm having war flashbacks😖

Oh wow. Bakuten also got a filler-ish episode! They somehow made the characters interaction within the characters contrary to what had happened before. Futaba also got a self-realization about his lack of unique personality, which is kinda funny. The idol talks also tickling me much. Then the coach more insights also good to fill these episode storyline.

I- This episode has no reason being this creepy... especially going from how light hearted it was this change of pace was very, uhm, unexpected.
Probably my favorite creepy part is how you can literally see the ghost guard walk past the 2 captains like 12 and a half minutes in. Great little easter egg.

Also that post-credit scene was probably more creepy than any part of higurashi last 2 seasons which was supposed to be a horror show so props to bakuten for that one.

Yes! I really enjoyed this episode lmao, an episode I didn't know I needed till now. It didn't really move the plot or anything, but it's fine, I got to know the characters more. It's really interesting to see how the pairs have the same hobby but different views on them. If you ask them "Are you similar?" the answer is yes and no.

That security guard ghost was actually pretty scary, didn't expect it to actually be a real ghost lmao. Great episode! Looking forward to the next one.

honestly this last episode is making me love this anime even more. even though the was a filler episode it was still amazing and I absolutely love the spin they added to it. genuinely cackled at the ending when the security guard said that he was the only one on duty. in terms of filler I think it was unique and gave us a cute little peak into the wacky cast that we have going on here. I don't think I've watch a sports anime where the MC just barely has a personality and just isn't good whatsoever in any form at the sport that he's doing. I really Ike the way that they are taking this anime tbh, really cute, fun, light hearted but with seemingly serious undertones that they haven't decided to talk about yet.

Mashiro is soooooo cute

And they just had to put Shichigahama in a bandana....theY JUST HAD TO he looked so good!!!!! ♡_______♡ and is it just me or did Takase get drawn like 50000000x sexier this episode

I guess many people were complaining about Futaba “not having a personality” in previous episodes. And it’s clear now it’s intentional & going to be part of his development.

They definitely nailed the creepy atmosphere!! Brilliant direction. A little confused why it’s getting dismissed as a filler episode. It’s not like they were having full-on tournaments and matches to begin with. Bakuten is very clearly a true blue SOL sports dramedy. The development was in the dialogue of the trio’s scenes. And why do sports anime “always” have episodes with haunted/supernatural themes that don’t get explained???? They are at a sports training camp, in a school, it’s part of school life?? When I had training camps as a student, these were all the norm. Is it not.....? We would always tell ghost stories & there were always “school ghosts”, no matter which stage of education/which institute I was at. I loved this episode. Brings me back!

And hope to see Shichigahama in that bandana again......( ˘ ³˘)♥︎

Such a fun episode! The horror parody was so funny, especially at the end when it turned out that everyone had met a guard who didn't exist haha

It was also funny & interesting to see the bonds the two teams had created over common interests come undone. Just shows that even if you have things in common, it doesn't always mean you'll see eye to eye!

To be honest, its an anime of sports genre with only 13 episodes....so i guess there should be a sport vibe in every episode but the latest episode was finished with hide and seek which does not have any connection with backflip sports... so the animation is good,i agree but the episode was quite boring

"They had us in the first half, not gonna lie." Man, that opening sequence was way too misleading xD

Pretty funny episode. The idea of using hide & seek as way to explore each character's mindset was actually pretty clever. Despite the fact that some of them have the same hobby, the way they approach said common interest ends being quite different.

By the way, Futaba acknowledging he doesn't have a distinguished personality sure took me by surprise. It was all part of the plot, guys! You can stop with the "MC is bland" comments now.

YES! The girl assistant that's always with him confirmed it. When both coaches and her were hiding, and when the other school coach had that small conversation with the Futaba's coach, the later mentioned his wife again, so the other coach told him that he has never met the so-called wife. THEN, the girl stepped in and said "she exists!". So yeah, he is indeed married.
