So, I had this high IQ idea for optimizing your anime watching time and adding twice as many items per day to your Watched list. I posted it the other day in another thread, but since it's such an amazing (nay, revolutionary) concept I felt that I just had to share it with the community.

Simply put, the idea is to merge two shows on the screen at the same time, so that you can watch both without missing a single frame. Like this:

You can't say it doesn't look awesome.

In this day and age when it's so hard to keep up with 30 new series per season, the only mystery is why no one has come up with this before.

The possibilities are endless. For example, you could have the option to adjust the transparency of one of the layers, so that you can send to the background the least interesting scenes (like when they talk and shit) and concentrate on the important parts (like fights and panty shots).

In order to avoid confusion, you could have the two audios in stereo on your headphones.

I was thinking that someone should approach Crunchyroll to suggest that they could offer this merging service for a small additional fee. Not me, because I don't have an account. And no, I don't require any payment for this. I'll just be glad to know that I've been of some service to this wonderful community.

So, what do you think?

I still prefer just picking an anime to watch every day, I prepare myself to watch it, I mentally go over my plan, and throw it in the garbage and just read some manga
Watching anime is getting hard

I think this method could be further improved by having one of the show be sub, while the other show is dub. With two lines of subtitles, it'd be confusing. With one line of subtitle and one dub (English) audio, you'll be able to multi-task with your senses.

I have suggestion for your idea! With it you can actually see 4 episodes of anime instead of 2 in the same time frame! Watch them both at 2x speed! If you are super duper fast big brain, you can go even further! 3x! 4x!

if anyone could tell me what the two animes in the clip are though , that would be greatly appreciated :)

Good, but not good enough.

Be like me:

In my prime, I used to watch 5 anime episodes at once.

I wasted all my time in rewatching to the point of my rewatch total is higher than my overall anime total lmao

I appreciate what you did there, fellow multitasking ADHD OCD weeb. The only problem I see are is the overlapping of subtitles. I know, I know, dubs exist, but if I'm gonna watch something dub I rather do that in my language (Spanish), so, the dubs available are pretty few.

this reminds me of when I was playing 3 SMT games at once.
imagine, which was an mmo. extremely grindy and doesn't require much input
some ps2 megaten game I was doing my 1st playthrough of
smt2, which I I just threw in there for the hell of it.
I learned that I can't play more than 2 games at once effectively.

Thank you guys for the positive reception and feedback. I knew I could count on the MAL community.

Nah, that's cheating. Besides, when you speed up a video to 2x you just skip half the frames, and can't really appreciate the animators' work. Doing that is disrespectful to the dozens of people who spent so much time and effort to produce high quality visual art.
AND the characters sound like the Chipmunks.

Flip Flappers and Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun.

Be like me:

But you have to switch your attention between screens/windows, so you're actually watching only one of them at the time, and using your peripheral vision for the other. In fact that was the idea of the original thread I linked above, that got me thinking of a way to put your full attention on both at the same time.
AND my way is cheaper.

Easy peasy, use different parts of the screen (top and bottom).

Now that's something I hadn't thought of. At any rate, one should avoid merging shows that have the same VAs.

Of course, high-IQ as this idea already is, there is always room for improvement. A few insights:

- MAL's Recommendations section could now add suggestions of what two anime to watch together. For example, "AoT goes well with The Garden of Words, the two color palettes blend beautifully", or "Don't merge Guilty Crown and Code Geass, they are already hard to tell apart as it is".

- Studios would soon embrace the idea and start producing series actually meant to be watched together: putting the characters on different parts of the screen in the same time window, timing the speeches so that they alternate - even aiming at cross-over effects. The mind reels thinking of the possibilities.

- Instead of using transparencies you can alternate frames, like this:

This was my first idea but didn't look so good.

Anyway, I'll be thankful for any new suggestions you guys can provide to make this idea even better. We're making history here.

Nah, I have the ability to split my eyes and thus looking two at the same time. And with smaller screens, I can utilize it better.
And while yours is cheaper, my way utilizes quantity and saves a lot of time.

There's really no need to compete because, why not do BOTH? You can have TWO series on each of your screens...

If you want to be a madman, do that AND watch it at 2x speed (1.5x minimum) to greatly utilize your time.
That's what I did with Danganronpa VN and I liked the 2x speed OST now and feel weirded about the original ost lmao
