| It's obviously not going to overtake FMAB when this season is finally over, just look at how torn fans are over this season. Only fanboys who rate 9-10 give scores when it's still early anyway. |

| Eh, after how divisive the last episode was, I think even it it gets to #1, it would be very short-lived. It's hard for an anime to remain at the top when a significant portion of its 'fanbase' hates it. And BTW, while FMAB has been #1 for a long time, it wasn't continuously so. Gintama' managed to surpass it for more than a year in 2012/2013 and Your Name did it as well in 2016/2017. |

| Unfortunately, it wouldn't feel like a well deserved victory. First there was that whole score debacle when the first episode dropped where the AoT fanboys showed their true colors. Then now, there is that CGI and again fanboys boycotting people who dislike that. I mean to say, AoT doesn't feel like it deserves it anymore because the fanbase is really childish and toxic. |

Agree with the fanbase part, but I have to respectfully disagree with the deserving part. What matters right now is if AOT is delivering a hype machine kind of product in the eyes of majority of the anime onlies, to which the answer is yes. A lot of people are happy about it I would say, and so it's good enough of a reason for it to push forward to number 1. (I don't mean by spamming 10s or 1s of course 😅) I don't think the adaptation deserves that. The manga doesn't even breach the 9 mark and the anime adaptation by Mappa which is just a glorified manga panel motion manga definitely doesn't deserve that imo. |

| Thread locked for not encouraging discussion. Threads about ranking and/or scores just encourage flame wars between people who liked the show and people who disliked it. They don't promote any kind of actual discussion. You may also use this thread if you want to talk about overrated/underrated anime. MAL has implemented a new system to take care of boosting/downvoting accounts automatically. You can read more about it here. You don't have to worry about the score being influenced by them. If it is influenced, it will be fixed after a few days. |
