| I'm pretty sure it supposed to based on Takei's later art style. Don't quote me on that. If you're talking about how shiny they are, that's just the massive difference between digital animation in 2001 vs now. |

| Lmao. The new designs look nearly identical to the original designs, they're what they should look like if they had a more modern design, as well as being Takei's current art style. This isn't the early 2000's any more. Compare HxH's character designs from 1999 vs 2011. |

| What? They just made the characters look slightly older and it's a bit more glossy due to it being digital. Plus yeah I have looked at their recent art and seems way more in line with that. It's hardly Bridge's fault. |

His style is very light and flowy now. Very soft, beautiful faces. |

| I wouldn't say were exactly "ruined" but I agree in that older ones looked better. They feel much more relatable and expressive. Not that this will mean I'm not gonna give a try to the new one. |

| I haven't watched the original anime, but going by the comparison you showed, it just looks like a modern version of the original designs to me. I think you're just too much attached to the original, and that's why you can't get immediately get used to this. I personally would prefer these designs over the originals. |

Comparison below It's not ruined It's just takei new art style if you look at his manga now that's litterally what it looks like. Maybe you should take a look at what the last few chapters actually look like, and his sequel manga shaman king flower and super star before saying it doesn't look like the manga anymore. they definitely still look like the characters  Heck when Takei came back to finish the manga the art atyle had already improved to be like this.   It still has the same body types just better coloring and more better looking eyes that make the characters stand out. Anna in the manga at the start had eyes just colored black but later on that changed and you noticed characters getting more detail.    Like look at the new cover of Anna you see that they obviously just went with his new improved art style of how he draws them now.  It's just improved eyes and the hairstyle a bit improved on and better coloring. It definitely doesn't ruin it quite the opposite. It looks exactly how it looked when he came back to finish the manga and how it looks now they chose to go with it and that way it won't have to be done later midway in the anime. |

| Anime designs keep getting more and more shiny. For another example, compare Higurashi 2006 to the 2020 anime. I will say the original Shaman King anime designs feel more nostalgic, but I am willing to give the new anime a chance before I judge. |

| it literally looks amazing. i prefer it way more to be honest. and i usually hate over saturated art styles they look cooler because they have more of an expression |

| I love it, it's so shiny and clean and pretty. I'm guessing the bodies will also be a bit more shapely. Plus it's loads better than what the morons did to "D.Gray-man Hollow" in comparison to the original. That was a real thorn in my eyes. So this is an improvement. |

| I liked the 00's style of anime too, but now it's a bygone era and it is better in a lot of ways. I did prefer the older style for a lot of shows, but such is life. I can understand how small changes can make the anime feel like a whole new show, a similar thing happened to me with hayate the combat butler, where the studio and VA's changed in later seasons and it was no longer the hayate I had grown to love |

| Yall need to chill. The same happened with the latest season of Highschool DxD. I dont see an issue with that, the characters seem and feel more "alive" and "welcoming". |

| If you watched Shaman king growing up then of course you'll prefer the old design while it is not the case for new viewers.They would actually prefer the new designs. After seeing the replies no one says that the new design ruined the og.So it's just you. |

This is how Sailor Moon Crystal and Cardcaptor Sakura Clear Card-hen art feel to me too. Updated, more modern, "prettier," but more lifeless imo |
