I've just started using MAL, but I've been watching anime since past 4 yrs and watched more than 70. But I left anime just because because I felt bored and after so much anime, films and tv dramas (top rated) it felt like nothing is able to impress me. I just wanted to ask if any of you have gone through a similar phase and how did you even fix or am I the only heartless person here who is forgetting the importance of art. I'm not the type of guy who can watch generic stuff like hentai, I just want to feel the artistic pleasure from these entertainments.

P.S. I have watched almost every film from godfather to taxi driver to fight club, every drama from breaking bad to GOT, you just name it. Or should I just leave the screen for few months and see the outside world. Dont refer to my anime list, its incomplete.

Only when I have nothing but boring anime to watch. You just need to find shows that interest you.

If you’re finding that you’re not enjoying anime, there’s no shame just finding something else you do enjoy. It’s not really something you ‘fix’. It’s more of just a natural personal quality you’ve developed over time.

There's no way you should feel bored if you've only watched 70. I don't know your tastes or what you've watched, but I'm sure there's at least hundreds of anime that you would enjoy that you haven't watched yet.

Well, it happened the same to me sometimes, but i think that is something normal now. In my opinion, when you watch to much things of a show, movies or even videogames, you can reach a limit of "emotion", you can get bored after that limit, so you should take a rest from something like that, take a month or the time you need and do/watch something else, then probably an anime picks your curiosity or you will start an anime because it was in your list from years ago and you'll enjoying it again.
I'm watching Gintama, almost in the end of a lot of episodes and then im gonna take a break of anime and do/watch other stuff.

All the time, last time was two weeks ago, I stopped watching and spent my whole time on personal stuff and playing arcade games so when I finished those things I came back to anime renewed and watched lots of episodes.

Sometimes I get bored, if I do I just put it on-hold or drop them and watch another. I just simply find an anime I think I'll enjoy.

Anime isn’t that great tbh. Try watching it dubbed in the background while you do other things. Try watching Ecchi and hentai more. Most of the serious shows are a bore. Anime is better at being sexual. You will see this in time.

Sometimes.

When that happens, I usually take a break from watching anime for a bit and then come back to it when I don't feel so burnt out.

This may sound a bit 'high n mighty' but 70 is not a lot. It's been a few years but at the time I had 70 completed anime I ws s still new enough to anime that I did not get bored. Far from it as I continued to watch 1 anime a day (either 12 or 24 ep). I know that I watch a lot of different stuff so it was not hard to find a new, interesting anime quickly. Were all anime good? Far from it, but the plot was at least interesting enough to start watching it. Maybe you should just search your favorite genre and decide at random which to watch. That's what I sometimes do and I found some real gems that I would never have watched for the plot description.

Yes, oddly enough. There were times when I used to impatiently glance at a show’s remaining time so that I can finally finish the episode and do something that I had planned on doing while in the midst of the episode. That’s because there was probably nothing in it that entices me and was just being forced to complete it.

Sometimes, yes, but not for much.
I actually played lot of videogames in the past, and I remember watching, like, 1 or 2 anime for year, usually anime based on videogames or that had videogame version.
When I started dropping videogames (now I only play, like, 10 minutes a day of Animal Crossing), I started watching many Anime, even if I'm still slow and usually I don't watch more than 10 anime a year.
Sometimes I slow down even more, maybe to focus on something else like school, studies or social activities, but it last 1 or 2 weeks.

I watch lot of slice of life, so sometimes they get repetitive and I drop them for a little while. Concentrating on one genre help me to not exaggerate when it comes to time passed watching my phone.

That seems to be the case when it doesn't interest me but i tend to be interested majority of the time. There have been occasions where my mind is somewhere else and as a result i can't focus on a series and find it tedious. Whenever that happens i take a break and spend my time on other things.

"whatched more than 70"
that's a shitload of anime, how did you even manage to get this far? oh wait the profile says 20 completed.
serious answer, I need to watch roughly 50 anime to just find one truly great.
I do enjoy most shows to this day, I just don't find them all excellent or super fun.
there's still merit in it, a show doesn't need to be mindblowing to be enjoyable.
if you can tell me what type of shows are you looking for, I can recc you plenty.
you don't suffer from burnout, you suffer from the beginner's high fading.

Yeah, I get bored with anime sometimes. For me, it really helps to take a season off and watch something else in your free time instead. Netflix, YouTube, a movie every now and then. And when you feel like going back to anime, it will still be there.

Take it day by day. If you don't feel like it today, then maybe tomorrow, or next week, or next month, or next season. You shouldn't feel forced to watch something you don't want to watch.
You can only try so hard, right?

I binge watch for a bit and then take a break to focus on other hobbies for a week or two. If I didn't take breaks I think it would become more of a chore to watch weekly episodes with other series on top of that...

I guess there are some times, where I get bored from anime.
However it would only hold for few days until I start a new anime and go back in in this "watching so much anime in a day" phase and the whole cycle repeat itself.

I don’t understand the point of this question; there’s no magical way to “fix” it. Just stop watching anime until you feel like watching it again. If that feeling never comes back, then just move on with your life and immerse yourself in something that you enjoy. Is that so hard? Is getting 500 threads from people too lazy to use the search function really necessary for such a silly and easy to solve problem?
To judge others by your own standard is the height of folly.

Yup, this is literally just anime burnout. Doesn't matter how fun a hobby is, if you overindulge it'll have a negative effect, just cause chocolate tastes good doesn't mean it won't make you vomit after a certain point of eating nothing but. Take a break, a good long break, and then when you're back try to find a series you absolutely know you'll like, if you get lucky and you really do like it that helps put you back in the mood for more anime. It's always best to save a good/great anime or two for a rainy day for shit like this.

Like most other interests in my life, it comes and goes. Sometimes I'll go a month or two without watching anything, and other times I'll binge a series in a day or two. If you feel bored then probably stepping away from the screen for a bit is your best bet.

I went through that phase.
I stopped going only for the top rated or popular stuff and discovered hundreds of great shows and and films I wouldn't have watched otherwise.

I went through the same phase OP.After watched some fifty or sixty shows I thought I have seen everything the medium has to offer.I was proven wrong very quickly.

The medium has a broad array of niche and genres that no other medium offers. You just have to find the ideal anime for you.It just takes some trail and error to find your own taste.

Whenever I am tired of anime,I just take a break. It's as easy as that.

Yeah its called burnout. You just drop anime for a few months or even a year and then you'll feel like watching it again.

It can also be because you're forcing yourself to watch boring anime. If you don't like an anime just drop it like you would any other show.

*new MAL user (supposedly) went beyond 70 within 4 years*

...I don't know where I'm going with this. "Watch at a slower rate" maybe? *shrug*
