It can be as early as the opening, the first episode, or even after the three episode rule. For me, this has only happened with Konosuba and Kino's Journey.

I knew I'd love turn a gundam when I saw the setting and character designs. Same with hell girl.

NGE. I was pretty much hooked from the first episode. That OP is iconic.

I saw the first episode of Haruhi, maybe even just heard that first sentence, the narration of why Kyon doesn't believe in Santa, and immediately fell in love. The entire format, tone, and humor just vibed with me so much. Still my absolute favorite show to this day.
Keep it simple, stupid.

@Star-Storm
Log Horizon. The 1st episode really sucks me into another world. It is the first isekai i see, back when isekai isn't filled with wish fulfillment trash like nowadays.

@CritiasBG
Ur absolutely right, the rest of Jigoku Shoujo/Hell Girl are filled with repetitive stuff including all of the sequels.

Made in abyss, kami no tou, kaguya sama and many more. With experience, you come to quickly identify the qualities that make a show you love. it's not perfect, but has high success probability

It happend me recently with Vinland Saga.

I was searching for a Action/Bloody/Adventure anime and i love the first episodes.

Sad the anime focuses more on the political troubles rather than exploring the world (not saying is a bad thing, but i think i had enjoyed a lot more the series if it was pointed to side histories and the developement of Thorfins personality, wich is a flaw in the series).

But yeah, i love fantasy/adventure in general so i tend to be pretty fascinated with theses things, and Isekai genre doing it wrong is why it upsets me more than normal.

It happened to me with Hikaru no Go and Servamp, I loved them from the first second.

I also watched the first 40 episodes of One Piece (even though I didn't like them) just because I wanted to meet Sanji. I loved his character design from the opening. If it wasn't for him I wouldn't have watched One Piece at all.

There are a lot of them, however, ReLIFE is worth of a mention because it happened at the earliest stage possible, I literally read the synopsis before the anime even aired and had to instantly go read the manga.

Really? I actually hate the first episode.
And the first chapter of the manga for that matter.
The rest is great though.

I guess it's a movie, but Tamako Love Story. As soon as the first confession hit way sooner than I thought it would, I knew I would be in for a treat

Also His and Her Circumstances especially with when the main pairing got together so early on

Don't really know what's there to hate. i didn't really like the structure of showing the present first and then jumping to the past, but that was a bigger problem in the manga than in the anime.

For me, Berserk started off a little awkward for the first few episodes, but then I became deeply involved with the characters and story the more I watched it.

Most of my favourites tbh. SSSS.Gridman comes to mind as it is my most recent favourite. I knew right from that quiet opening scene. Fuck, I need to watch that show again, it's so fucking good.

Made in Abyss, 3-Gatsu no Lion, Eizouken ni wa Te wo Dasu na!, Cross Game, Sora yori mo Tooi Basho, and Kakushigoto. Also, after reading the synopsis for Yesterday wo Utatte, I went ahead and read the manga, which became one of my favorites

Ping Pong the Animation (I feel like a broken record), and Baccano for me.

I actually quite hate how I discovered Ping Pong the Animation, because I was full tilt elitist at the time and I only watched it because I was sick of how generic every single anime artstyle felt. Not a great start, but I'm glad it ended up being an actual great anime instead of the anime I might have used to shit on other shows.

I've only watched Baccano quite recently, but damn I do understand the love for this show now. It has everything I like. Prohibition era setting, ensemble cast with so many great characters, some supernatural blended in, mafias and even a damn Camorra. Seriously, you barely even see mentions of Camorra in Western entertainment, let alone Japanese. Even if I was excited and knew I'd like it, I still had a bit lower of an expectation because of Durarara. I thought the whole gang stuff was going to be super lukewarm and lacking in tension for 90% of the show like Durarara, glad my expectations were wrong. Still a bit annoyed how it definitely is just a huge prologue ad for the novels, I feel like I'd be less crossed by that if I had known beforehand.

For me, I think it's Hoshiai no Sora. The way the first episode deviated from normal sports anime made me fall in love.

There is also Sarazanmai, but I had fallen in love with that before the trailers had even aired. Something about the promotional videos completely grabbed me in some way I didn't know was even possible.

Kaguya-sama. The first episode alone made me laugh so much.

I'd also have to say MHA. I related a lot to Deku and his personality, so I instantly fell in love with the series. Call it overrated or not, this series made me really fall into the anime fandom.

This isn't much of a spoiler given it's literally one of the first scenes of the series but Darker Than Black had a super fucking effective hook. Give it a watch yourself! It's an anime that could use the attention.

Hyouka, Violet Evergarden and Baccano.

When I watched the first few minutes of Hyouka, I quickly fell in love with Oreki.

With Violet Evergarden, I first found out about it in a trailer that I randomly stumbled upon on Instagram. I was amazed by the animation and found the setting interesting (since I'm really into historical stuff). I watched it and it did not disappoint me.

As for Baccano, even before I watched it, I knew that I was really going to like it and my god it did so.

The first episode of Berserk always struck me as very "by the numbers" for its' time period, the first episode feels to me like something out of Fist of the North Star or Violence Jack. There's a name for the genre woth burly men doing burly men things but I cannot recall it right so that's the best description I can give right now as to why I don't like the first episode.
