Amazing episode as always!

Rui's backstory surely was sad, but that flashback was really well executed!

Finally the girl from final selection, Kanao showed up, she is really beautifull and her voice actress suit her well!

Nezuko running in chibi mode was so cute and funny!

I am glad Tomioka kinda remembered about Tanjirou and protected Nezuko!

I am glad they decided to capture them instead of kill Nezuko, i am really curious for next episode, can't wait for it!

A really sad and touching flashback for Rui, as he's finally killed.

How did Giyuu forget about Tanjiro and Nezuko from episode 1?

Can't wait for next episode to see more members of the Demon Killing Corp.

I never knew I needed tiny Nezuko in my life... until now.

That's a male. It's never really specifically stated in the manga how the individual pillars rank power-wise, though you do get a general sense of where each one stands as you see them in battle, based on the matchups and their performance.

Funny enough though, we do know EXACTLY how the pillars rank purely in terms of physical strength, and there are definitely some surprises there lol...

Well guys, I guess it's time to revisit manga a little bit XD

(we are currently at chapter 43-44,next episode begins 45)

Although I will definitely not blame you guys forgetting that since the power ranking of Hashira is never mattered in the upcoming battle; s thus that little fun question will not spoil any plot points nor characterization for the anime-only people.

I can see where this season will end. It will be a stronger Tanjiro of course, but it surely won't be easy.

The music in this show is so amazing, it really complements the great art and animation. Also, little Nezuko is cute.

These discussion threads have got a lot more active since episode 19. I’m glad the series is getting attention but I kinda don’t want it to blow up too much, I miss when it was quite niche

I do remember that part actually, and the most recent chapter makes it pretty clear who the strongest and second strongest are, but as for how strong the remaining members are relative to these two and to one another, we can only make assumptions based on what we’ve seen them do. I’m pretty sure Shinobu is at the very bottom though.

They fleshed out Rui's backstory more here in the Anime than they did in the manga. They only showed his past on how he became a demon, killed people, how his parents wanted to get rid of him and his parents meeting him on their journey to hell or wherever. I liked how it was done here.

They also added a humorous bit of Giyuu being bothered by people not liking him. They didn't show that until a bit later. That chase scene was a tad bit more serious in the manga. I loved that part of Nezuko shrinking into her little girl form and Kanao standing before Nezuko while she was sitting so adorably on the ground.

Also, Inosuke will start to grow from this point on. He finally realized his own mortality. He defeated a demon in the mansion and quite a few which is why he is Demon Slayer but when it comes to stronger demons his ego was bigger than his actual ability. He will continue to grow stronger from here on out with his usual brash attitude but he'll know when to tone down. He becomes more likable after this arc.

I'm so glad to finally see the pillars or hashira. They are fucking awesome.

Rui's backstory tells us of family bonds. That as you become a demon longer, you slowly lose your humanity. It was happy yet sad that his parents really cared for him afterall. At least his suffering is gone and is reunited with his parents in the other world.

Finally, Kanao appeared again. and Gin being a bro right there saving Nezuko from being killed. Dem Hashiras look tough. Lol Giyu and Shinobu's talk. I wonder what trials awaits Tanjiro and Nezuko.

Pretty decent episode.

Uh... the Pillars sure are quite a picturesque bunch of people, uh? Not gonna lie, some of them look more ridiculous rather than impressive but I guess I just need some time to get used to their character designs.

And by the way, talking about Pillars, Giyuu sure looks badass and all but he definitely should stop letting his guard down so often. First, it was Tanjirou with the axe in episode 1 and now, Shinobu with her hidden blade.

Overall, it was another great episode. Rui’s backstory sure was sad but it didn't really make me feel empathy towards him. However, it was still nice to receive some proper characterization about him as well as more insight into his connection with Muzan. And also, not to mention that the conclusion with his parents joining him in hell was so beautifully tragic. I really loved that part.

Once again, great episode. Now, really looking forward to the next one!

P.S.: And in the end... Tanjirou didn't get Rui's blood :/

I have to say Giyu made some dumb brain decision even Though I really like him a lot. First why did he told Tanjirou and Nezuko to run while holding out Shinobu? Considering he knows Shinobu has surborniate such as Kanao to chase after Tanjirou and Nezuko or he doesn t know who kanao is? Which is bullshit

Smart decision is for Giyu to told Tanjirou or Nezuko to stay with him while he hold off Shinobu or Giyu,Tanjirou and Nezuko both run away together while Giyu fend off Shinobu

If crow didn t come,Nezuko has he head chop up kanao, Giyu probably would have dodge shinobu blade considering his abilities.

Either Its very good. I like everything that happen this episode and plus Kanao design here look pretty.

Rui is one of my favourite demons this series.

Wow, uh that episode was like half awful.

Not only is it a waste of time to give us Rui's backstory now that he is dead but it's also just a waste period. He wasn't a compelling villain before or after it and it feels bad to try and redeem him in the end after all the awful shit he did by just handwaving it away with "bad stuff happened when he was a kid"

Middle part was good though. Everything with Tomioka and Kocho is great.

The other Hashira though at the end. BIG FREAKIN OOF. 4 out of 5 of them have some god awful character designs.

I love this anime more and more with each episode!

Also, Nezuko running away was the cutest thing I've ever seen

I'm curious what the next episode will be about
There will be some kind of trial I see
Is it going to be about Tanjirou protecting a demon(Nezuko)?
Or it's rather like they want to ask Tanjirou some questions, like why Nezuko is not attacking humans at all?

Or maybe! Maybe one of the crows saw Tanjirou using fire, and the pillars saw it through the crow, and they want to ask him about that?
Or maybe all of these?
Damn I really want to see the next episode!

Tanjiro didn't use any fire. All the fire, water, lightning are just visual effect to make the sword style looked cooler. When another person looks at Tanjiro, all he sees is he swinging a normal sword. Nezuko's demon art also didn't make the sword on fire, all it does is heating the sword so it becomes red hot like how a blacksmith does when forging swords.
The pillars won't care about what sword style Tanjiro used since Inosuke created a new breath and Giyu created a new form but no one cares.
Shinobu and Kanao chased Tanjiro because he is protecting Nezuko so the trial will be about his misconduct for protecting a demon. The crows do report to the Head of the Corp after all.

I think you miss the point. It not about forgive and redeem him. it to show how he get to this point. The series never use the demon past as an excuse for their action. Tanjirou just doesn't share the view that demon are monster but instead to him it a miserable existence.

Why is this anime so fucking slow? Literally almost nothing happened on this episode. There's no need to expand on the demons backstory that much, it wastes a lot of time, Spidermom's backstory was shorter and it was easier to sympathize with her. Can't say the same for the rest of this "Family"

It does not help either that Shinobu keeps triggering Giyuu while not letting Tanjiro or Giyuu explain themselves. All that time wasted served nothing because in the end they'd be taking Tanjiro and Nezuko to the pillars anyway.

Things are slow because the studio stretching them too much. In the manga, the pacing is better and things happen very fast. Pacing is one thing that is better in the manga. The fight with Rui and his backstory only happen in a couples of chapters but the studio extended them for 3-4 episodes. Rui's backstory should have been done last episode already.
The backstories are the best things about this show. They show that demons are once humans too. Without those backstories, the villains would become shallow and not memorable. It would just become fight after fight with fodders that we can't even remember their faces. The show will have no depth at all and will be boring as hell.
Like those villains in Dragon Ball, in the end, the ones fans remember the most are the ones with their backstory showed.
KnY currently is one of the most popular manga in Shounen Jump so the author must have done something right.

It is his personality. You can see that he is rather unfriendly and he didn't even remember Tanjiro, only realized it is him after seeing demon Nezuko.

Rui's backstory and psychology were great and emotional - almost enough to get him into my top 10 characters; I really liked his philosophy and warped psychology.

A great ending, and Tomioka is beginning to develop into an interesting character.

So we get Rui's backstory. A story of family and (strings) bonds. A boy whose body was weak to begin with and parents whose regrets fail right to the very end. All he wanted was a genuine bond, but his atonement took all he had about his kill-count scores, an emotionally great but tragic end to the Lower Fifth.

Obviously, Giyuu as a Hashira doesn't really give a shit about this, even lesser with Shinobu. Her hideous smile only gives more worry about Nezuko, and Giyuu sympathizes with Tanjirou to escape with Nezuko from her. Her transformation into a child-like self is damn cuteee, but as always with the danger at hand she is more agile that way.

And HOT damn, they're all brought back to the Corps for treatment, finally one time for all who are affected, much less Tanjirou (and Nezuko) who are in custody into the presence of the Hashira Pillars.

I'm personally excited to see what reaps out of the Pillars.

This anime is so inconsistent with the characters ... so first of all gyuu is meant to be some sort of badass so they copy levi from attack on titan which is not a bad thing if he plays his part well which he did till now...he steps on that demon saying you should not have mercy for demons and tanjiro like the kind hearted nonce he is gets pissed (this was good)
But then shinobu comes and starts dissing him and he seems to give a shit and is visibly offensed by a childish insult..i mean you ruined his whole character in a few seconds
Not only someone who was supossed to be the badass should never be dissed cause people are afraid of him (like with levi) but when someone does that they should never be impressed
The anime is good but damn the characters are so inconsistent

It not inconsistent cause Giyuu not really like Levi. Despite him appeal to be cool and emotionless, Giyuu, like most characters in this series isn't defined by their first impression.

this is one if most memorable scene for me, although this may be just a small scene compared to the rest of the show. it will show who are the pillars and you'll be introduced to the people who I dearly love and respect.
like from this point on, you'll see them appear more often than not since they're really important to the story line and right now in the manga.

as for the trial, you'll have to wait and see why i love that scene so much as I don't want to spoil it too much for you.

Well Levi and Giyu are both stoic but not the same but similiar but also different. Levi is more stoic than giyu and ruder. They are both from point view of people e motionless, calm and collected and very powerful. While Levi still doesn t show much emotion even in later arc but Giyu does even for me Giyu showing his emotion wasn t that much either. They are similiar but not the same.

They are both stoic, very ruthless their enemies, zero social skills and they both harsh look at Giyu gaiden giyu social skills is garbage and Levi is terrible as well in social skills. They have a lot in common but not the same. They are both calm and emotionless levi is more soo.

Giyu and levi are very similiar but differents are Giyu has comedic moments,Levi is more ruder and harsher,Giyu is more emotional they are both unfriendly levi far more. Other than this personality is very similiar to point its nearly the same with few differents I can name one more different that would be spoiler from Giyu part. Plus Giyu can try to be friendly to people at some rare occasions and can be a quite moron as well unlike Levi.

Giyu has only seven different aspect of his personality than Levi. Other than that they are very similiar to point it nearly the same.

I know because I read both manga to latest chapters

Well for starters, a demon slayer protecting a demon is basically unheard of before. The pillars will never trust a demon, so they need some kind of assurance/proof that Nezuko will not harm any human.

Is this trial a big thing?
Is it important to the story?

Yes the next episode is the most important one. The trial sets the beginning to Tanjirou’s real journey. The Natagumi Mountain Arc was still a kind of “prologue”. From here on, we are out of it.
The Pillars (hashiras) are what makes Kimetsu no Yaiba the most enjoyable shounen. Unfortunately, we won’t get to know them properly this season
