Or in other words, what anime/genre/trope do you like despite it being looked down upon?

My personal guilty pleasure is Tsunderes. I can't get enough of them.

OVA series Zettai Shougeki: Platonic Heart/Master of Martial Hearts, which deconstructs ecchi fighters.

I gave it a 5 only because of one character.

If I had to pick an anime it would have to be Trinity Seven. There’s just something about how far the show leans so far into all of the tropes that it actually almost endearing

idk, does loli porn count? If not then just shows with a lot of loli fanservice, like Black Bullet or Death March. They get shit on a lot but they still bring me a lot of joy :>
I probably regret this post by now.

I don't feel guilty for it but I do like and own:

Ecchi/Borerline H. I'm a female but have to admit that I like erotic scenes like in Nozoki Ana or minamoto monogatari.

Even though I hate "cheap ecchi" in series where it just doesn't belong and is not funny. Or the cliché ecchi/ harem tropes like the guys always gushing over the sight of a little bit of decoltée or panty.

@Kruszer how did Arpeggio and Sola end up in that list? And Brynhildr has some pretty legit interesting sci-fi stuff going on too, just like how Lord Marksman and Vanadis has some pretty damn legit politics/warfare stuff going on.
Avatar character is Gabriel from Gabriel DropOut.

Loli stuff- As long as it doesn't exaggerate on loli fanservice (something Im not really a fan of) I don't mind it.

The Big sister- Let's be honest having a older sister is better than a little (word from the wise). At least then she can take care of you like mother and treat you well. (I know you can do the same with lolis and little sisters but hey at least it's legal)

And harem that actually has a story and not just for pure fanservice.

Also, Ecchi.

If by "guilty pleasure" you refer to shows considered bad by the majority or that are pretty dumb, but I still like, then:

-Stupid over the top mecha series (Cross Ange, Valvrave the Liberator...)
-Trashy ecchi shows (Highschool of the Dead, Kämpfer, Killing Bites, the anime of Rosario + Vampire...)
-Series that are mean to be thrilling but are hilarious instead (Mahou Shoujo Site, Mayoiga, Ousama Game...)

I love them all with all my heart. Cannot get enough of them.

Sappy drama and romance, especially of the shoujo and teen varieties. Also things like Shitcom and Inferno Cop, which are great for what they are, and Pupa, which I thought legitimately good.

An OP main character in a fighting anime. Many ppl don't like that, but I find it entertaining just watching and thinking how bad ass the character will look like to the others

Arpeggio is supposedly "a Kancolle clone", Sola is "bad" probably because they gave up before all the interesting stuff started. Brynhildr in the Darkness has a stigma from people who don't like Elfen Lied because it's the same author. Lord Marksman and Vanadis gets shit on because it has "harem elements". At least these are some of the reasons I've read from people.

For anything other than porn, why is guilty pleasure a thing? I don’t get being embarrassed by something you like. Oh well.

Ah, the list is written from the perspective of "someone else says it's bad".

Meanwhile it's amusing how I've so far ignored Kancolle (and Azur Lane as well) while Arpeggio is in my faves.

I get a kick out of watching trashy, grindhouse-esque OVAs from the late 80s and early 90s but don't feel particularly guilty about it.
Take care of yourself

I don't really feel guilty about liking anything and don't like the term in general.
I feel very often it's used in a pretty pretentious way, as to imply the show is beneath the person and to somehow defend their taste. But whatever.

I guess if there is a show that is almost universally criticized (by those that actually care about looking at anime more seriously) and that I like, it's probably Fairy Tail.
A lot of criticism for it is indeed fair, the show has a pretty repetitive structure, there is rarely any sense of actual danger, problems are solved very easily or conveniently etc.
Nevertheless, I immensely enjoy it. I really like the cast, find the show relaxing, like the humour and the character designs. The fanservice that is often complained about, to me is another positive. It's a shame it kinda gets worse in later parts. But, outside of HxH, it's the long runing shonen I like the most.
I LIKE power of friendship I guess. The tenrou island scene with all of them holding hands against Acnologia is so good.

Oreimo. I really like the drama, the protagonist's parents and the artstyle. Too bad the main character is an utter retard, his sister is the living definition of the B-word, his sidechick is a cringy chuuni dork, and his other sidechick is an annoying, trashy yandere. Not to mention that this novel is everything wrong with anime but I can't help but enjoy it somehow.

Not really feeling guilty but I enjoy the beach episodes, can't get enough of them, even when the plot thickens and we have a story to follow, the anime heads to a unexpected beach ep, I won't complain. Even though the forums will go mad.
Really bad series that make no sense like mayoiga or rerided, with tons of stupid things and plot holes. They make me smile and I continue watching them for enjoyment.

The cuddly, saccharine type of Shoujo romances or Girls / Boys Love. They are way too sweet, but sometimes that's endearing.

Pretty much this. I think it's a fun trope that can add a little extra tension to the typical "will they/won't they" shtick common in romantic stories. Pretty much the same thing with lolis. Make it a little sister love interest and you've just reached the stratosphere of cutesy/taboo/comic misunderstandings. Usually shows that feature this sort of thing are trash but Oreimo did it pretty well.

Rosario Vampire...

It used to be anyway. I'm not too interested in the harem genre, and I tend to avoid harem anime in general.

However, Rosario Vampire was the first/one of the first anime I had seen, so part of me will always enjoy it.

The isekai genre. Hnnnn. No matter how terribly generic it is I want to watch it. Same with the danmei/BL genre. I read so many novels/manga/visual novels and watched so many animations that my eyes are burning.

There's no such thing as an anime genre that has a "good" reputation. Closest thing would be watching a Ghibli movie, but only in a similar sense as an adult would be watching a Disney movie (watching with your kids or nostalgia).

So yeah, I consider everything I like a guilty pleasure and that's the only kind of pleasure worth having anyway.

I don't have "guilty pleasure" anime, genres, or anything in entertainment. I like what I like. Why does it even matter if it's "looked down upon"? If I liked it and felt entertained, then it's doing something right as far as I'm concerned. Not everything needs to be a cerebral highbrow masterpiece. And what's considered bad depends on who you ask. If you go ask a "normie", anime itself would a filthy degenerate hobby. So if I started giving a shit about what people thought, then I'd have to feel "guilty" about liking every single anime in existence.

For anime, hmmm, there isn't really an anime that I consider a guilty pleasure. Probably the closest examples of guilty pleasures are Akame ga Gill and Black Bullet (I know, some people love them, others hate them to death). Sure I gave both a 6, but they were quite enjoyable and some of their characters are good.

Genre? Not certain on this one either. Isekai is probably the best answer I have.

Tropes? Well:
"On that faithful day, everything changes for this ordinary guy"
Tsunderes are quite enjoyable
That one character with a dark/mysterious past
Flashbacks!
Motherf**king high school!
And most importantly...
