| Maybe we'll get announcement of the sequel to the main story when this finishes airing. Anyway, I'm happy that we're finally getting some story, and for those wondering if this is canon or not, yes it is canon, but from the view point of Madokami and Nagisa, and us; the audience. The story takes place between eternal and rebellion, in an alternate timeline. So yes it ties to original story. Those who want to play with the word 'canon' may rather leave the anime community and join a literature club to assert their knowledge of words because canon here means 'something that ties to original story' and if the creators call it canon, it is no matter what you may say. I'm just wondering if they'll show as many girl as they have in the game. I'd like to see Ren Isuzu. Also if they show Magical Girls from other shows like Monogatari and Lyrical Nanoha like they did in the game, it would make this show the ultimate magical girl crossover! |

| Is it canon? Yes it's canon. Does this take place in the original timeline? No it does not. Kinda like how FGO is with the original FSN. I don't remember much about the game though. I stopped reading the translations after a couple of chapters in and p much don't play this game anymore. |

| Ummm, it’s both canon and non canon, technically. It’s part of the entire Puebla Magi multiverse (stated to be infinite) which Ultimate Madoka governs. |

| Omg, came back after some months and i see people are having fun with the thread, well YES, its a canon history and NO it isnt a direct continuation to Rebellion but the MagiReco can exists because Madoka saved all Magical Girls defeating Walpugis, and all the things happening at Kamihama are consecuense of that despite it its another world line or whatever name you can give to to that. So in less Words, No Godoka saving medukas from suffering, No Magia Record world its possible. |

| For the love of god it really irritates me about the word "Canon" for a long time. This cursed word makes fans are divisive about things. "X is canon." "No you dumbass, X is not fucking canon." Just enjoy the show as it is. Whether it's part of main series or no is secondary stuff. This show likely will be on it's own as this is adaptation of mobile game. Yes there will be Holy Quintet appearing only as supporting characters. |

| Didn't read all of the debate. It does sound crazy at first, but I do see how someone doesn't really have to take the author's word for it if they are happier otherwise. Like how some people say they don't consider the new star wars trilogy canon. I don't believe this argument to be correct on a technical level, but part of me does understand that you can believe what you want for the most enjoyable experience. It's not like it has any real life consequences such as believing insane things about medical health or whatnot that kills people. I'm happy to disregard the cannon statement that there are only a few million clones at the start of the clone wars due to the absurdly small number, just as an example. I believe they'd have more clones to fight a war in an entire galaxy than the amount of people who died in a single battle of ww2. |
