| Shiki fits this well. It is a bit of a slow starter, but it won't disappoint. The art style is also quite strange (I personally quite like it). Second half of the show is a bloodbath like nothing I've ever seen, and there is not a huge distinction between the 'goodies' and 'baddies' to the point where you just don't know which side you're rooting for. |

The manga of Ito Junji for example Uzumaki or Gyo are very disturbing in my opinion. |

| I have never seen more graphic anime than Corpse Party. Even Elfen Lied cannot compete. However it is designed for fans of the game, so if you didn't played any of those, you'll have no clue what is going on. |

| Monster. This definitely fits the strange and disturbing citeria. Whilst the story is far fetched at times, for horror, it is very realistic. Something that I feel makes it much spookier than shows that rely heavily on fantasy. |
| while there is that much gore, and its not horror, i'd say Shigurui. Just finished it yesterday and its excellent. the actual story could go on for abt 35~40 eps, but they onlly made abt 40% of it into a 12 ep anime, there is no S2...... but it ends on a proper satisfying note/ arc end/ |

| Neon Genesis Evangelion This pretty much covers it all. Visually and psychologically disturbing. These aren't so gruesome, but I feel like they are worth mentioning here. Boogiepop Phantom is definitely a strange show. Le Portrait de Petite Cossette ... romantic horror. One of a kind. |
