05th May 2021: A new milestone achieved: My 500th completed Anime: Kimetsu no Yaiba Movie: Mugen Ressha-hen

Score: 9/10
Genre: Action, Demons, Shounen
Episodes: 1 (Movie)
Mini-review/synopsis: Well its Kimetsu no Yaiba or Demon Slayer if you watch the dub. I don't think I have to introduce this to many since this has to be one of the most popular shounen of today. Also if you have a Netflix subscription, they kind of push it down your throat until you just give up and see what's the buzz about it is. But if you are new to anime or living under a rock, Kimetsu no Yaiba is shounen action and comedy series about a young boy, Tanjirou Komado and his lil sister turned demon, Nezuko Komado (the cutest thing you will in this show, trust me!). Well this is not a review of the first season but movie, so I will keep the intro short. Basically Tanjirou wants to track down the demon who turned his sister into a demon and slaughtered his family and in order to do so, he joined the Demon Slayer Corps. First season is great, watch it! Moving on 26 episodes later, Mugen train arc, as the name suggests this whole movie takes place after the first season when Tanjirou and his group are sent to investigate a demon attack on the train to Mugen. Now I will be honest, the arc is not that strong, what's strong is the importance of the final moments of the arc, the character development and frustrations they went through. Still it is a great movie and if you are invested, then of course you will watch it, its a must watch for action fans bcz the fight scenes are nothing short of amazing.
Anime's strongest point: There are 2 places where this movie shines, first is the fight choreography which is nothing short of amazing and what you'd expect from this series if you watched season 1, only better here bcz of the final fight scene. Second, is the impact of the arc/movie on the main cast. Without spoiling, the character development is the strongest point of the movie and this basically is where the actual Demon Slayer story begins.
Anime's weakest point: The weaker points are the story and animation, surprisingly. First, the story is straightforward, there is nothing too amazing or mind blowing that happened in the movie, story wise. It was just the natural progression but it lacked substance sometimes. The villain on train is kind of generic with generic motivations, but again the story is really good its just the weaker part of the movie. The second was the animation which actually surprised me since the first season has flawless animation, as far as I can remember. Also don't get me wrong, the quality is there when it comes to certain fights and effects but it kind of went lazy some other times, which threw me off but not enough that I would say bad, it was again the weaker part of the movie.
DO I RECOMMEND? Hell Yes, If you like the first season this is a must watch. The impact of the ending is too great to miss and any Demon Slayer fan should watch it, it won't disappoint you infact it will hype you up to read the manga (which is completed btw) or wait passionately for next season (Airing later in 2021). Also, I am psyched to have completed 500 anime (including series, movies and OVAs) and I hope to reach the next milestone of 800 anime soon. Looking forward to the next featured manga/anime with another big milestone or just any amazing find.

17th Jan 2021: A new milestone achieved: My 100th completed manga: Taishou Otome Otogibanashi

Score: 8/10
Genre: Romance, shounen
Chapters: 38
Mini-review/synopsis: A story of rich young boy who lost his mother and his right hand (permanent paralysis) in an accident and is now thrown aside by his family (by his father) to grow old and spend the rest of his living years away from the main family. Deemed to be dead, his father bought a young girl to take care of him and be his eventual wife as he is no longer capable of inheriting the Shima family business. The story revolves around Takihiko Shima who has given up on life and how Yuzuki Tachibana entering his life although through a monetary transaction, changed him for good. The story is well written with proper drama in the final act but most of it is wholesome. This is a love story set in 1920s Japan with customs and traditions of the era affecting the story as it progresses. The usual cliche tropes are thrown out of the window and the romance is straightforward with amazing progression and character development.
Manga's strongest point: The characters are very well written with strong back stories and realistic actions. There is not a single character that is weak or half-baked especially the antagonists who have proper motivations for doing what they are doing.
Manga's Weakest point: This is me nitpicking here but if I have to bring out a weakness, it would be the simplistic story, there are no plot twists that an avid manga reader can't see things coming from a mile away.
DO I RECOMMEND? Yes, I recommend this hard. Me who is a sucker for romance and I am glad this happened to be my 100th completed manga. This mini review and milestone is something I thought of starting this year on my profile and I am happy this was my first manga which got a special feature in my profile. Looking forward to the next featured manga/anime with another big milestone or just any amazing find.
