 The official Twitter account of Kadokawa's MF Bunko J imprint has announced that Reiji Kaitou and Ruroo's Machine-Doll wa Kizutsukanai light novel will end with the 16th volume, which will be published in two parts on June 25.Machine-Doll wa Kizutsukanai began publishing under the MF Bunko J imprint in November 2009. A manga adaptation drawn by Hakaru Takagi has been serialized in Comic Alive since November 2010. A spin-off manga drawn by Misato Kamada ran for two volumes in Comic Gene between April 2013 and April 2014. The series inspired an anime adaptation by studio Lerche in Fall 2013. FUNimation licensed the anime for North American distribution, and released the series in a Blu-ray and DVD volume in March 2015. Source: LN News |

| Not really surprised by this - indeed I was always somewhat surprised that this series had enough content to run for as many volumes as it did. Always felt more like a 10 volume series than a 20 volume one to me (or an 18 volume one as it will effectively end up being). Plus the titles of the last couple of volumes have been kind of giveaways that the series was coming to an end. |

Why I do not like purely advertising adaptations, so because if you do not have access to the original LN, then you just get an unfinished show without a logical end. |

| I found the manga a lot better than the LN. But hey, I might be wrong since not enough of the LN is even translated to fit my liking... My love is still strong for Yaya though! so... hope to see something in near future, if ever. |

| Well, that sucks. Sounds like it got axed. Too bad since it wasn't half bad for light novel. Sadly translations stopped long ago but I was still hoping someone will pick it up. Rushed endings in manga are horrible, I imagine it must look even worse in a cancelled LN. |

Light novel series getting axed after 4 or more volumes come out is pretty rare anyway. If a series is going to get axed it usually happens before even that point. Let alone this far in. |

I have the first 5 volumes of the series only. That second paragraph is, as stated, based off the titles of the volumes. With a series with subtitles as obvious as this one's, it's not that hard to conclude that the story was drawing towards its conclusion. |

Like many other light novel illustrators, Ruroo has been sick and has caused delays of Machine Doll for years. That said, I don't believe the story has been cut short at all. If anything I would call it a bit drawn out at the end though it has been quite enjoyable overall, if a bit confusingly written on purpose at times. I knew we'd never get a second season but I enjoyed the novels more after seeing the anime so I don't mind that the story is only finished in the novels. If I get a few months of free time I might think about translating them, probably last first since the last volumes are always the most important in my experience. |

| With light novels you may not know the OTP until the last chapter or even the last page. Certainly we will need to read volume 16 part two first. I can spoil people when I get my copies. You can ship whoever you want, of course. |

But you should also learn Japanese so you are not at the mercy of others for translations. They will always be late and some sort of localization will always change the meaning to at least some extent, even when done by a talented translator. |
