How do you feel when you catch someone watching anime in public?

I'm not sure if someone has created a thread like this before (I'm sure someone has), but I gotta know, how do you feel when you catch someone watching anime in public? Do you feel embarrassed? Do you feel disgusted? Or do you just not feel anything at all?

For me personally, I don't mind if someone watches anime in public, as long as they are sort of discreet about it. I often catch this guy who watches anime in my college's cafeteria and while I don't mind that he's doing his own thing, this dude has the volume like all the way up. I can hear it across the room for goodness sake. I even caught a different guy watching ecchi in the library as well. I felt... disturbed and slightly disgusted.

So anyway, what is your opinion on watching anime in public, and how do you feel when someone is doing it? I'm genuinely curious.

Edit: Please, for the love of God, read this through before commenting. I keep seeing replies saying stuff along the lines of "Well geez, we're supposed to feel something??? WTF???." No, that's not what I'm saying. What I'm saying is if you do have an opinion on watching anime in public, what is it and how do you feel about it IF you feel anything at all. The only reason why this topic got stuck in my head is because I was hanging out with some friends and they admitted that they didn't like seeing people watch anime in public for some strange reason. That's all.

I sit there and watch it with them. Generally, I ask them to pause so I can go grab my favorite waifu pillow and figures. Gotta set the mood.

For some reason whenever I do see someone watching anime at my school they have bad taste. A kid in front of me was watching SAO2, and another time I saw a kid in the back of the class watching Trickster.

I've watched ecchi in class (Monogatari series, Shimoneta), but no one gives a shit what I'm doing in my little corner during the class I watch anime in or pays any attention to me so it's all good.

The one time someone's noticed something off-color on my screen was actually in a different class during Yuri!!! on Ice, of all things.

I don't know, never happened to me. Though i'm sure i wouldn't mind as long as they don't have their volume all the way up as you said. I mean, let them be... Who cares anyway? And no, i wouldn't be disgusted if they watched ecchi, what's so wrong about that? It's their thing afterall.

Before phones were banned from use in the school library (they are banned everywhere else around the school prior to this) I'd just sit there with some of my friends and we'd be watching different anime. I was watching Code Geass & Ajin and my friends were watching Chuunibyou, DanMachi and Re:Zero lol

Disgusted if they don't use headphones. Not just for anime, but also for other personal entertainment such as music.

I admire people who can watch anime in the public (using headphones ofc) because I personally couldn't focus at all.

Uncomfortable since it would mean I myself am in a public place instead of my basement.
I probably regret this post by now.

That's why you wear headphones!

Me? Ehh...I don't think too much of it since I do it myself. I don't see it often since no one who lives/works around me watches anime. There was one time about 7 years ago where I saw someone watching an anime called Shadow Skill on their laptop. I didn't know anything about it, but it gave me something to watch when I didn't know what to watch. I finally got to it 5 years later...

I watch a lot of anime in public since I download them to watch them while I travel, which means whenever I have to wait in stations or am on a train, bus, stuff like that, sometimes it happens that someone notices I'm watching stuff on my laptop and there was this time I was watching Dimension W with only one headphone as usual (because I always want to pay attention to my surroundings as well) while on a plane, and these teenagers passing by and one of them just turned to the other two behind him and whispered something like "that guy is watching Sword Art Online" and I litterally facepalmed.
Ruka desu.

When I see someone watching anime in public, if I can, I try to see his/her phone, pc or tablet and more late, I try to discover what's he/she watching
It's interesting to me, and I feel happy when I know the anime...

I just can't figure out how can someone feel comfortable watching anime in public.
"Look... It's a gigantic killing spirit and you just a woman with an invicible Holy Excalibur. Just sit down and watch me, a man who don't know any martial arts and can't use magic will beat it."

If this happen, i stop and pause what i was doing to watch that anime with that person. If the anime is to my liking, then i will hold a conversation with him regarding that anime. If not, well, i'll just leave.

Are we supposed to feel something? OP, its completely normal. Yet again, only anime fans ask things like this. You would never see a sports fan ask "how would a person watching sports in public" make you feel.

I hate this fanbase.

When I see someone watching or looking at anime in class, I usually have the urge to try and talk to them about it and perhaps make a new friend...

but then I realise I'm the main character who sits in the corner of the class doing nothing but daydreaming and wishing I can go home.

I read manga in public as I can't focus on anime properly with people around,
I see wierd faces everyday looking at my phone .
It seems like more out of curiosity than any hate .

But i would just watch with him if i see anyone watching anime unless it's hentai .
I saw a guy in my class watching dbz during lecture and i gave him 1 fight spoiler and he was so mad after that.

I hate to break it to you, but your taste is pretty atrocious. Maybe you should give your friend a break and evaluate your own mess first

On topic:
I try to make a habit of not staring at the screens of strangers. I glanced over the shoulder of an old man at the public library looking at piss porn like it was his living room and I've never been the same since

I often watch anime in public. I generally avoid ecchi shows so I'm not particularly worried. Most people don't bother to even look at what you are watching. I don't think they find it strange. I have a dificult time approaching strangers and the fact they are clearly having a good time isn't much of an incentive to interrupt them.

When I see someone watching anime, I will ask, "What is that anime you're watching?" then, "*insert anime title he/she says here* is good, I like that anime, how about *insert favorite anime here*, do you watch it?"

I always watch anime everywhere except while riding vehicles, and I don't care negative things other people say, well I don't give a f*ck. I wear headphones so I don't disturb them.

I just walk by and see what they're watching. Most of the time it's probably an anime I've seen or am not interested in. I spend most of my time in the library watching anime myself.

I only saw someone watching Sword Art Online at a cafe once.

I'll watch anime on long bus rides myself.
I watched Dragon Ball Super on my way to NYC and literally had people behind me and to the side of me desperately trying to angle their bodies so they could see my laptop too. That was kind of odd.

Disgusted? Embarrassed? Why should I feel anything like that?
I only feel positive emotions, because anime is taking over the world, and the time when prejudice is defeated is coming closer.
I feel that the other person is a comrade, even if he is a kid watching something like Naruto.

Oh, it's not like I feel like that way whenever I see someone watching anime in public, I just know several people who do for some odd reason. I could care less if someone was watching anime. In fact, I guess I would be in awe that someone had the guts to do something like that.
