| I love the direction of the episode. From the opening scene to Rei travelling to the Shogi hall and then his match, it all felt powerful even without any dialogue in it. The visual representation is so on point. But the comedy seems forced to me, hope it gets better. Really like both the OP and ED and the insert song as well. |

| That was a good start and relaxing. I feel a sort of calmness in it specially on the first part. I was also impressed on how they use the background music. Everything is calm and even no bg music in showing Rei’s world in Shogi. But it suddenly change when he came to the house of those three sisters, music became lively. |

| I might just drop this anime because I found it so damn boring and I thought maybe it'll get better, but it seems like everyone enjoyed it from the 1st episode. Probably my biggest disappointment in anime. |

It feels like the MC is experiencing fake doom & gloom when he's greeted by those 3 lively girls. |

| Bullying for name - sucks.. But there will always be bullying at least for something once in school.. And usually not even once.. You can stand it, or it can hit you.. Either way.. School is just such area of accidental shit here and there.. How long is taking one game of shougi, by the way?.. I never played it, and don't know rules.. Wonder, if one games takes longer or less time than chess.. Or around same time.. No idea.. Ok, so man left something?.. And there are some Kyouko and Ayumu who were or weren't surprised.. Also who is that family, and who is the man to them?.. He seems to be talking at least a bit more with them, than the old man we saw before.. Also buying them some presents.. Game was really important for some reason?.. What is the reason?.. Oh, so he plays shougi for the money?.. Sportsman?.. I wonder, if he sooner or later will arrive to professional sportsmen problems.. Like someone influential can approach him to throw, for example.. Well, if bets on their sport are made.. Or some other problems.. "He's 17, and needs everything that needs other 17s", you say, teacher.. Which is?.. Not everyone wants same things in life.. And with age it becomes even more different things for everyone.. Well, episode with many hints.. Maybe a bit even too many.. A bit too many to keep in mind, it can get confusing, really, what's the deal.. I hope we'll learn sooner than later, because if it'll keep piling up, I'm not too sure I'll be able to follow, really.. But overall first episode makes anime look promising.. But will see, really, how things will be.. |
| this doesn't seem super Out there, but im interested. i like how the scenes where kiriyama is alone is quiet, not even any music or osts are played, makes it seem pretty.. lonely and depressing but when he's with other people it turns fun and upbeat |
| My first rewatch. Damn, feels so depressing from the first moments! Love how they are SHOWING not telling what the character feels. Not how the other emotional manipulative animes are! You instantly fall in love with the characters. And you want to know more. Masterpiece! |

| The directing and flow of this first episode has much more passion and direction then some series have in their whole run. I couldn’t even count the amount of stylistic changes but it’s very Shaft to do so. They really put in 200% on here. Netflix said I had apparently watched the first 10 episodes of this. I barley remember it unfortunately but I know I’ll come to love this little family in time. |

| interesting first episode. i get the feeling rei isn't introduced at fullest, but i get the feeling the more this continue the more his story will expended. because unless it will, i won't get why rei is so emo lol. the "light" scenes portrayed really nice. the inside songs were great. won |
The calm mind is the way. beautiful and soothing world art style. The opening song was fantastic. Somehow combine both sad and cute elements, with vibrant background music. |
