Shrimperor said: We don't know if she did that, actually? Remeber last episode about the Dragon and how the Dragon protects the royal family? We only know that the Witch might have done it, or have something to do with it. True, but the chances of the Dragon having anything to do with this is pretty low since Subaru's powers came from a Witch. |

WE already knew that Subaru will save both of them anyway since he care about them, even if they suspect him... It wasnt a conclusion or something, it was just his nature. Or am I wrong? And why did nobody cared where Subaru went for 4 whole nights? I loved the execution of this episode, I just dont understand few things. Someone can help? You got quite a few things wrong. It was Ram ( red haired sister ) who killed him in the forest which because she wanted to release him from the torture. They even implied it afterwards for the people who didn't get it the first time. I think people are way to focused on this saving part. His main motivation is not saving them but finding out what he doesn't know. Of course he wants to save them while gaining more information but its not like this is now his only driving force. He didn't plan to save them until the cliff scene where he realized they still cared for him in his situation. He was scared like shit from them, avoided any contact and was seriously traumatized by having contact with them. It's just that he realized they still are caring people deep inside that he now wants to save them. He didn't went into the library for day one. He entered the library shortly before he was about to be killed which means the night of the 4th day. |

So, Subaru basically wants to save them because he became attached to them even if they didn't felt any attachment to him, right?Even if the maids were conforting him when he was having his nightmares, that doesn't change the fact that they never trusted in him at all during all those days they spend together, putting facades to him and that they would kill him without any remorse or pity only because he has that Witch essence that it's not even his fault (like how Rem did in this episode). probably because its only subaru thinking that way. the maids never gave him any "affection points" or whatever you wanna call it. subaru already says it himself, that his affection with them lingers even if theirs is not. *your* impression of the maids would of course look like they're some strangers that are just some kind of expendable, but *subaru's* impression of them is way far off from there. I guess it has sense for Subaru's kind personality after all. |

Also isn't manga just an adaptation too? the source is light novels. It was even better in the anime. How he came to realization was pretty flawlessly portrayed. --- Beginning scene had me in tears. Subaru's speech really moved me. The music at 17:05 was so touching. Can't wait for the release of the OST Best episode yet. Easy 10/10 umm, you probably don't get it. subaru was at that point very afraid of the maids. for them to hold his hand, at the state he was currently at worse... instead of comfort, the manga readers were instead disturbed by that page. it was supposedly an ironic reception of sorts. Like I said, it was better in the anime. Sure they weren't holding his hands, but the subtle shift from the light to the twins, with the eerie music playing, and suddenly Subaru seeing distorted images of the twins. How was this comforting? If we're going to call out parts not being adapted, it really should only be him not waking up to apologize to Emilia. Otherwise, the adaption went pretty smoothly. sorry, that 30 second animation wasn't eerie in the slightest. my face was a complete blank all those while. timestamp is 10:05 Sorry but the anime portrayed that scene way better. I personally prefer the manga, they didn't have to depict Subaru's nightmare, it was more subtle. Also the manga clearly show Ram et Rem holding his hands, while the anime try to screw with the viewers by fuzzing the scene (at first I thought it was Beatty's hand since the way they are holding is the same as during the contract). The manga clearly state his intentions and make the viewer wonder "why are they holding hands", which contrast nicely with Subaru's fear of those 2, while for the anime asks "who, what is going on" which is less pertinent. Also Subaru calming down right after the scene, at 10:36 was a bit cringy, it feels a bit forced and it's a boring way to show what's going on. |

He entered the library shortly before he was about to be killed which means the night of the 4th day. And you have to consider the conditions for his survival as well: If one of the sisters is killed, he is the most suspicious one. So from there on, he has two options: 1. Either pull through the whole thing with some kind of magical protection, which I doubt that it could save him in the long run, or 2. Investigate, who is the one responsible for the curse and save the sisters in the process. For those who are angry with Subaru's conclusion: Doubting, killing or whatever bad thing he could do with the sisters has no use for him, if he wants to get out of this loop. If he just dares to do something like that, he loses the support of all inhabitants and will be killed afterwards. So from the logical and emotional standpoint his decision makes sense. |

Fucking hell! Yes, yes, yes! This is what I'm talking about. This is why this anime is in my opinion the crowning jewel of this season and surely will climb the ladder of my top anime. It finaly surfaced. The pain, suffering, the burden of dying. Subaru showed his real, human side. And the moment when he woke up and screamed because he saw his killers face (someone pointed that out a week ago, thats for that). I knew Subaru would live through the 4th night. But what I didn't expect was for Rem to die. Why did it have to be her? And I still don't understand why Betty is so understanding of Subarus unreasonable behaviour every time he respawns. And now we know that he cannot tell anyone that he has died before. Also, the fact that he has the stench of the witch tells us that she's somehow involved in his teleportation to this world. And why did it have to be Subaru? A NEET-hikkikomoru? But I guess is too important for the plot and will be revealed at the end of the story. But really now, what are the conditions for his respawn and checkpoints? At first I thought he respawned because he died because someone killed him and maybe he didn't respawn when he himself chose to die. But that would mean that after jumping off the cliff he wouldn't respawn. So that's where the cookie crumbles. I can't wait for the next episode. It's gonna be awesome as always :D Oh, and btw even though I like the OP and ED, I was happy when I saw that the anime staff switched them for more plot :) |

Instead someone attacked him with the intent to kill, without questioning. The only reason I can think of (as seen in this loop) is that one of the twins died (because of the curse). As I'm certain that the source of the curse is in the village, the one that got cursed could only be Rem. And when that happened Ram went rampage and attacked Subaru with the intent to kill him (without asking any questions).mozgow said: Ram isn't the one with the weapon, so the one who killed Subaru was Rem.So it's almost certain that in the first loop he died due to a curse. In the second he was dying because of a curse but was killed by Ram once Rem died (also due to the curse). It's still possible it was Rem, but it would mean Ram died. If it was because of the curse, then we don't know how she got cursed. |

She did show care to him when she hold his hand at the bed so why?... No problem! Yes Ram was hunting him down because she strongly believes he knows something about her death or he even caused it. Beatrice actually said it in a perfect way "By running away you threw away the chance to convince that sister" and "They can't without one another". Ram got taken away her most beloved person and the one guy who arrived 4 days ago, can't explain himself and runs away. This is suspicious enough for her to hunt him down with the intention to kill him. Well that was before Rem died. They still had pity for him because she was a mental wreck. It's also likely that they applied mana of the water element on him. |

Welp, a little off on my prediction (I said two revives, instead we got one revive and one glorious faceplank), but nonetheless it ended near where I expected it would. Balls and his talk still gets on my nerves. After experiencing all that shit, he still never learns. Keeps spewing out corny lines about preserving happy moments and reminding everyone of memories that only he has (as if they'd remember teaching you to clean and cook in an iteration where you chose to be a guest and holed yourself in bed for three days, dude). I know the author penned him in as an average Joe with below average intelligence, but you'd think dying around six times would make you at least that much more smarter, eh? Did he ever think to try writing out his predicament instead of speaking about it? maybe there's a loophole that gets past the Jealous Witches curse, no? Not that I don't understand how he's thinking, but it irks me to see that he's not actually thought of alternatives to try out before just giving up here, especially when he knows that he'll just be forced to relive the entire nightmarish scene again and again if he fails to do something about it. |

359 people who vote 5/5 in just a few hours. GOD DAMMIT! i agree too. this episode is the best so far. i'm not kidding, i'm speechless right now. i need to gather my thoughts first... and LOL, i bet the LN reader are looking at the anime watcher only with sadistic looking eyes right now. First! there was a fact about Subaru's power. First, the most thing which i really really really want to see when it comes to time travel is the fact that you can't say everything/tell everything to the other people about the time travel. on top of that, it was kinda threatens his life too and DAMN i got suprised at that point. and then the fact that Rem died. GODDAMIT! who see that coming ? LOL i got suprised well at that point, on top of that, all of them fighting each other like a badass. i seriously feel bad for those two. The soundtrack in this episode was godly thrilling. especially at the beginning. LOL speak about the intro of this episode, that was freakin SAVAGE!!! back to the soundtrack again, new song at the end. it was really good and fit for the situation imo. but again, Ram looked BA AF in this episode tbh. and DAT FREAKING CLIFFHANGER!!! THE HECK!!! well i kinda see that coming because that's the only choice. and when subaru was cryin in the intro....man that was kinda emotional seriously. and i'm guessing Jealous witch is the main problem here and i think it has something to do with subaru's time travel ability (?) White fox.....this is what anime should be. they are going serious on every aspect that they even cut the OP song and visual and ED visual. not even gonna waste time. seriously, they should be proud for making this. i don't know what to say anymore....overall it was a great episode and it was getting better and better...obviously looking foward for the next episode. Edit : i thought the conclusion for Rem's problems would be in this episode but i guess not. well that's better. i can't wait to see the next episode because some people said many people might like Rem more than before, so i kinda can't wait for it. |

Holy shit.. Been a very long time since I enjoyed a single episode so much. Seriously made this anime my favourite of this season by far. Subaru boarding insanity after someone he thought was a friend, someone he thought he built a connection with.. Was the one that killed him. Being utterly broken and basically given up all hope. So many emotions, I really couldn't ask for more. Really interested to see who the culprit is, looking forward to the next episode a ton! |

I didn't really come to this anime expecting much, but this episode has blown me away! I mean FAR FAR away! I hope it gets better from here on out.. Of course let's not raise the expectations to much but dayum... This episode was just Hnnnnnnnnnghhh!! Way too good! If you want to raise your expectations for more light-hearted content, then the third arc will crush you. In terms of writing, it gets even better later on from what I heard (arc 3 is the most praised one of the three). That leaves us with the worries for the ending and how White Fox will manage that. I hope that they leave it open, so that we get another season in two years. |

I can raise my expectations for this! These first few episodes were awesome and if what you say is true, dayum. I think I might have a new favorite since a very long time. Last season was kinda MEH!Kousuke-shii said: Aaaaaaaah... I have no idea how to explain this episode.. All the emotions man come on!! Waaaay too good! And his conclusion lies within logical and emotional judgement. At least he knows that none of the sisters have to die.Welp, a little off on my prediction (I said two revives, instead we got one revive and one glorious faceplank), but nonetheless it ended near where I expected it would. Seperating things, which you experienced in your life and things, that you know through one revive, is difficult. He grows closer and closer to them, yet the relationships are resetted.I know the author penned him in as an average Joe with below average intelligence, but you'd think dying around six times would make you at least that much more smarter, eh? Then explain me, why has he below average intelligence? It's average, not lower and not higher. His actions have been quite logical so far, even though only his emotions are shown. Did he ever think to try writing out his predicament instead of speaking about it? maybe there's a loophole that gets past the Jealous Witches curse, no? The shaman is the one who casted the curse. Not that I don't understand how he's thinking, but it irks me to see that he's not actually thought of alternatives to try out before just giving up here, especially when he knows that he'll just be forced to relive the entire nightmarish scene again and again if he fails to do something about it. He hasn't given up. He was desperate that they didn't trust him despite of how he acted in this revive. I say below average because anyone smart enough to have experienced two different sets of revivals would have started to understand the mechanism somewhat. The fact that he's still prancing around acting like a stupid idiot instead of seriously observing his situation and any discrepancies, and his slow uptake and piecing together of information from previous iterations indicates that he is not up to your average Joe's standard. Acting all chummy in a world that has show itself t be harsh, distrusting and suspicious would raise plenty of red flags with people around you, specially ones who've only known you for a few days and are currently experiencing a period of political turmoil AND a succession battle. He should know all that by now, no? Yet he still goes on and keeps doing it. Dude, what shaman are you talking about? When was it mentioned that a shaman placed the curse on Balls? In any case, did he even TRY to think of a way to get his story across besides speaking about it? Even he doesn't know how the curse works. He could have kept trying. As for the last point, I was referring to that last iteration where he just laid in bed for three days straight before crawling to Beatrice to beg her to keep himself from dying. If he'd been smart about things, he would have did that first thing when he revived and then spent three days investigating on how to stop dying, instead of wallowing in his misery in bed. If that's not giving up, then I don't know what is. |

*Subaru yelling and crying* *Rem slits throat* .. the hatred was strong at that moment. Looks like he is not targeted specifically either, with Rem dying of weakness like that. The way that dark spiritual hand seemingly make him feel like his ribs and internals got crushed, when he was about to spill his death talk... Yeah I probably wouldn't have said anything either (゜-゜) |

The story-line of this episode is very heavy compared to the other episodes... It really shows that intense fear really affects the rationalization of the protagonist on his multiple death experiences, also... I really like that they really emphasize more on the story-line and the animation really improves in this episode! 5/5! |

Ah, I knew he was being killed for just being a suspicious character. I thought it was on orders by I guess not. At least he seems to have a plan instead of randomly going about things. The Jealous Witch seems to be coming into play now as well... I wondered if there was a plot device to keep him from telling people his power. I keep hoping he does a Groundhog Day thing and picks up some more skills just by reliving and building upon the previous gains. Gain a little wisdom while he's at it. Appears to be on the path. |

Very interesting developments this time around. The curse apparently isn't stemming from either of the sisters nor Beatrice. Those two might have each killed him once but the first time was by someone different; this time they killed Rem because they couldn't get to him, it seems. Furthermore, his Restarting seems to be exuding this Castella the Witch's scent / aura. That is probably exacerbating their distrust of him seeing as she seems to be a massive social taboo. It also seems like - although I could be misunderstanding - that he can't talk about his Restarting ability. From what I saw, it seems like he gets gripped by terror when he tries broaching the subject. I'm not sure whether the black misty hand over his body was meant to be a manifestation of his fear over what's happened, or if it's a genuine part of the curse / ability to prevent him talking about it to others. I'm kinda hoping it's a preventative measure, otherwise his running out and not explaining his ability to anyone really doesn't make much sense. |
It's an entirely different kind of flying, altogether! It's an entirely different kind of flying. |

"My heart belongs to Emilia-tan!" 20 minutes later... "I love you both, Ram and Rem!" Even in death, Subaru can only think with his dick. What a dumbass. Loving the people who are trying to kill you? (one of them actually successfully killed you TWICE). You barely even knew them, how could you legitimately love someone in that time and after they treat you like this? I thought he was all over Emilia, why did he randomly confess love out of nowhere? It's so dumb and contrived. Also, why the hell did Ram randomly start attacking Subaru? Was there any reason, other than her just thinking it's him that killed Rem? That doesn't justify murdering somebody in cold blood, throwing a temper tantrum, and destroying the property of your mansion just because you have a hunch. The logic in this show continues to baffle me, but other than that it was executed very well. The voice acting, animation, OST, and atmosphere were great. (Though Subaru's screaming became comedic after a while, lol) It's just a shame that the writing itself is pretty mediocre and nonsensical. |
