What's something you were given as a child that you still cherish today, if anything, and why?
It can be something physical that holds some sort of sentimental value, or something such as a life lesson or piece of advice that you still follow or remember to this day.

A teddy bear I got when I was a baby, I still have it in my room.
I add sentimental value to things pretty easily though, I even have trouble getting rid of tabs I've been on for a bit too long.

Life advice - "Don't talk to strangers" To this day, i still have no friends.

Probably my Ps2 and GBA, still both work for the most part. Pretty much started my gaming with those.

The ability to breathe air, consume necessary nutrients, and pump blood through my healthy functioning organs.

A pair of eyes appear disguised,
I take flight and stay high in paradise,
With bad luck, snake eyes, a pair of dice.
I'm paralyzed, she speaks twice, a pair of lies,
It's parallel, apparent hell of parasites.

Well aren't you edgy?

I've attained my star wars chess set since childhood and it's in pretty good condition.

I apologise if I've misunderstood, but how exactly does being appreciative of my life and wellbeing make me edgy? :o

the harry potter books.
I've been rereading them recently, and it's really adorable, because some of the pages have sticky notes on them from when I had to complete some sort of reading assignment in elementary school.
and the order of the phoenix has completely fallen apart, but there are still lots of good memories in those pages.

When I was like 11, I was playing truth or dare with much older chicks. Some of my cousins, whom were older and the same age as the girls, dared the girls to make out with me. At first, they obviously didnt want to make out with me, but thankfully my cousins had my back, and the girls made out with me. HIGHLIGHT OF MY LIFE!!!!!!!!!!

My consoles mean a lot to me because its where I started gaming.
Besides from that, I have my VCR and old movies and a pocketwatch from my grandfather.

Something given to me... I guess some mathematical knowledge given to me by my father when I was five, it was useful since it sparked an interest thus allowing me to further learn easily.

Literally, not a thing.

I even remember being a kid and seeing TV shows where people had some sort of attachment to something they had because someone gave it to them, or it was the only reminder they had of someone who wasn't around anymore, or whatever. I used to actually feel bad because I didn't have anything like that. I would find something to hold onto and make an effort to make that thing important to me. At least until a week or so later when I couldn't focus on it anymore.

But I dunno, I've just never attached to an item.

Life

I value my life an try to escape from it as much as possible while appreciating the fact that I'm not dead so I can hate my life some more time, it's a nice cycle

A dreamcatcher. I'm not one to usually believe in that kind of stuff but really, I don't think I've ever had any bad dreams since I received it except when I forgot to bring it with me on trips. Maybe it's a psychological thing, idk.

I still have my first teddy and "blankey" but I don't exactly cherish them.

Almost all of my childhood toys were donated/thrown out/lost because I moved a couple times growing up and went through a phase where I hated everything about myself and threw a shit load of my stuff out. The only thing i'm really upset about is this box of a bunch of different pretty stones I had... I have no idea what happened to it.

Everything's edgy nowadays.

I was given a mother and father who don't hate each other as a child and I am forever grateful for this gift. My dressers in my room were used in a TV set at one point and I was given them as a child, which is awesome.

Do plushies count? I still love all my plushies.

I was in a 'gifted children' program which consisted of letting crazy people talk to us about their favorite subjects. I guess they made me more of a philomath.

Ye, same. Mine is a silver necklace with some kind of gothic cross which my friend gave me long time ago (though I'm not Christian) . I never took it off, even for shower. It's amazing how it still remains in good condition after so many years.

The little prince was given to me by my great uncle. He died not too long after that..
Got a big panda plushie from my ex-boyfriend (it was his favorite toy he told me, so he cherished it a lot), I still have it.. :D
Got a quite expensive ring when I was still younger from my mom and I still use it till today. It's super pretty (consists of a big amethyst and is made up of gold).
I also have a big cross-necklace made up of gold with one super small diamond (also from my mom). I am not religious but my mom is... it's supposed to protect me <.< I also have a lot of plushies from my mom... xD

Treating everyone as individuals and my equal & giving people a chance to prove themselves before writing them off were ingrained in me since an early age, most likely from my mother's side of the family. I don't remember a specific moment but it's definitely something that I picked up early and has stuck with me.
I love Christine

"If one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours. He will put some things behind, will pass an invisible boundary; In proportion as he simplifies his life, the laws of the universe will appear less complex, and solitude will not be solitude, nor poverty poverty, nor weakness weakness." - Henry David Thoreau
