| I think twelve kingdoms and legend of legendary heroes has good villains, though none of them are like the joker. Maybe Izaya though he's more of a big manipulator than villain or hisaoka (though he's not a villain) or the spider troop from hunter x hunter. |

| Recently been watching Toaru Kagaku no Railgun, and gotta say Accelerator was a pretty cool villain. Not because of any deep backstory or unique motivations, but just for being really easy to hate for the way he is and what he does. |

| As I've said in other threads I think one of the things Western animation does better is their villains. Anime doesn't seem to realize that not every big bad needs to have a tragic backstory. |

It depends on the show I guess, sometimes a backstory is nice but in DBZ let's say, if Frieza was given some sad background it'd be cringe-worthy. |

You have to admit a big part of Mereum's charm was his conflicted feelings for Komugi. Grey characters in general are interesting but I know for a fact Mereum wouldn't have been half as interesting without Komugi to play off of. They complemented eachother perfectly. |
Yep, he wouldn't have been as memorable without her (& probably the arc as whole honestly). But I liked him before she even showed up, he wasn't my favorite yet but I still found him awesome. He could've stayed the same evil guy from the beginning of the arc & it wouldn't have been a problem for me. |
