Do you find it harder to marathon anime as you watch more and more?

I'm not sure why, but after watching a couple hundred it's getting harder to stick with something compared to when I first began anime. For example, I thoroughly enjoyed Prince of tennis, yet why did I stop at 80 episodes? It's the same thing with Hajime no Ippo and a couple of others. Is it just that my attention span has shortened or is this some effect from having watched too much?

Indeed, when I first started I spammed those weeaboo cartoons everyday.
Now I finish a couple of shows a month.
The end is nigh

I have to agree. After finishing gintama, trying to catch up on one piece is gonna take me a while but it also depends on how much you enjoy the anime.

I could never watch more than 3 episodes at a stretch since god knows when.

Then I watched Monster.

After that, I've watched quite a number of anime but again couldn't find myself to marathon them.

Then I watched LoGH.

it depends on the anime itself

if it's good and fun you can finish it in a day but if it isn't it could take a whole month

I agree I've found that recently for me it's harder to finish any anime unless I can do so in one sitting.

I go through phases when it comes to marathoning. I can hardly marathon so I shitpost on MAL half the time, and then when I get banned, I start marathoning again.

It got harder until it got limp easier again. Doing Ippo would never have been hard for me though, that show basically asks to be swallowed in one gulp.
I probably regret this post by now.

The only time I can't marathon like I want to is during the school year because I feel discouraged from watching anime. It's a different story when summer vacation hits.

Nope, not at all. If anything it becomes easier because I'm used to it.

Although I've barely watched anything anyway, so~

Depends entirely upon the show, really. I guess I don't do it quite as often anymore, though.

I agree with others that it depends on the show.
I am currently watching Hajime no Ippo, and I am going slower than I'd have expected for a long-runner. On the other hand, I started Magi and I've been more motivated to go through that faster.
Another major reason for me is that I've watched pretty much all the shows I really wanted to view when starting anime. Although I still have some series I want to watch, the motivation is not as high as for the first few.

Yeah at first it was fine, but after a while you find yourself staring at the computer screen rather than watching the show.

I try to gie mself a break after a few episodes; so I don't fry my brain out

I really think it just depends on the anime. If it's not really long and it keeps you interested all the way through, it can be pretty easy to marathon. However, if the anime has boring points in it, then it won't be so easy.

It's pretty easy for me to sit down and watch an anime in 1-2 days. 24 episode+ take me a little longer though.

Not really..... Once I get completely immersed into an anime that I like, I just mindlessly marathon it until I'm done o_o;

No. The only difference is that I used to only watch one show at a time and marathon it in 1-3 days. Since the start of this spring season I've changed it and watch a bunch of shows instead of focusing on one. The same amount of episodes get watched.

Yes, and it's inevitable. As you watch more and more shows, you tend to become less impressed with newer ones, so it's much harder to marathon anime.

Yeah, pretty much. Also my standards get higher because I've been finding series I've really liked lately :>

I have too many responsibilities in my adult life that keep me from being able to marathon like I used to so I guess the answer is yes.

However if I had the free time I think I would still only be able to marathon for short bursts and the show would have to be pretty dang good and at most less than 50 episodes.

I marathoned lots of anime when i started watching.

then I moved to manga, I learned that anime takes away precious time you can use to read manga

Yes, I used to marathon 1 series per day when I first got into anime, now I barely watch 2-3 episodes per day (airing anime included).

I go through random phases where I'll marathon shows no problems. At other times, I just tend to watch an episode or 2 and take a break like right now.

Not exactly no, also it depends on my mood. Earlier today I was about to play League of Legends, but then I was just so tired thanks to the heat that I just signed on my playstation, went to the crunchyroll app and just had a marathon of one of my favorite animes, Ano Natsu De Matteru and watched it pretty much all day.

The only time I find it hard to marathon an anime is when I'm physically unable to. Most of the anime I watch these days tend to be part of the season line up, so unless I'm behind 5 episodes, it's pretty hard to marathon a series that has yet to be completed.

Not necessarily, but I do find it harder to commit myself to one show. I often get side tracked as I want to see how other shows start out and go see their first episodes.

I don't marathon anime. The only anime I made an exception to marathon was Hunter x Hunter (2011), because I had just finished watching the 1999 version of the show, and most of the events between the Hunter Exam and Greed Island arcs were the same. I'm probably never going to marathon another anime again.

I had the opposite problem. I found it harder to watch other anime when I was marathoning one anime.

Its the same with me, it is good to know i am not the only one... i guess its because when we first really start its something new and fresh not to mention usually when you first really getting into anime you watch the best ones like code geass/ death note etc... watching great anime like those i marathon in 1 to 2 days. But after awhile you find yourself watching most of the hype stuff. I t may just be me but i only marathon great anime since it keeps my interest and keeps me on that wow factor

Yes indeed. Over time I've gotten increasingly bored of anime, and found it much harder to marathon them. Most of the time I just get distracted by other things, but on a rare occasion, if the anime keeps my interest for more than 3 episodes I may or may not marathon it depending on my mood.

Not really.
After 3 years watching anime I didn't reach the point were I get bored watching the ones with 100+ episodes.
You were talking about Prince of tennis, I've finished watching it a couple of weeks ago, it took almost 2 weeks finishing it, including all the specials, movies, OVA's and of course New Prince of tennis and the specials.

When I first started watching anime I was marathoning that crap for days, now its hard to watch a lot in one day or a week, so I don't get to watch much anymore. I just watch airing anime now and the occasional anime that i find good.

It depends on how long and entertaining the anime is. I usually watch two series at the same time in order to switch it up and not burn myself out. Yet, if I find the series interesting I'll marathon it without a problem.

That's probably your brain informing you that you need to take a break or something. While this does happen from time to time, I'd rather not suffer the consequences of watching weekly.

I've never been able to marathon anything. My attention span is shit. Some shows are easier to watch than others, though. For example, I've been stuck on the Impel Down arc for 4 years.

Back when I started watching anime I could watch 40-50 episodes on one go easily, but nowadays watching even 10 episodes takes a toll on me. At the moment, with so much other things to do, I haven't even been able to keep up with all my series this season.

I just marathoned Samurai Champloo. It's not too hard for me to marathon if I'm on break from school, but if I have classes coming up then I tend to watch anime in small intervals instead.

Depends on what I'm watching. If I really like the show I can get to around 14 episodes before I have to stop for a few hours. I used to be to be able to get through 25 but life gets in the way now.
