I actually think this is the best Shoujo I have ever seen. Normally not a fan, but this had a strong atmosphere, likable characters, some realistic portrayals of emotion and human psyche, and some tragic moments were portrayed very well and hit home.

Granted the ending was far from conclusive, but this is to be expected due to being ongoing at the time. Pity that a season 2 of the anime never actualized to complete the story, but alas this is an all to common malady that anime suffer.

I give it a 9/10, the highest score I have marked a shoujo. Still I likely won't check out the manga to reach a conclusion.

I have mixed feelings about this episode. The raining scene was too long, they could have shortened it to maybe 5 mins at most. Then there's Akito who is very cold and mean to Tohru. However, I don't hate him because it is sad that he carries a burden with him which is the curses. Overall, the show was good. It certainly leaves viewers wanting more and making them go read the manga.

I'm so sad it's over and there's not a Season 2! But I know there's a ton more of the manga after all this so I'll start reading the manga soon...definitely a lot of unanswered questions that the manga will answer for me :)

I hate Akito so much, poor Tohru...that entire scene was making my blood boil!

I loved the beginning, after everything worked out Kyo was in cat form and she carried him back to the house...I thought that was adorable xD

I liked the funny slice of life moments but the serious stuff didn't really click with me. I don't really have time to read the manga unfortunately.

I watched this due to popularity and... meh, it was a typical shoujo, nothing original happens in this anime. I'm very disappointed =/

overall pretty average to me. It took me an entire year to get through this...but the last 5 or so episodes were pretty enjoyable so slightly above average I guess.

Not the best ending (very inconclusive) but I wasn't expecting much anyways so whatever.

As much as I've loved Fruits Basket up until this point, I'll agree with the consensus that this episode left much to be desired. I suppose I should have expected it to end with loose ends and unfinished business, but it still leaves a bit of a sour taste when you realize that there's never going to be a sequel.

The first part with Kyo was emotional albeit it felt like it was lacking the punch it could have had. I don't think Tohru's ever dealt with anything of heavy consequence in regards to the Souma family and their curse, so to see how deep and dark it ran was a huge wake up call for her. I like how she admitted that she was indeed afraid, but desperately wanted to accept Kyo regardless of her fear. She couldn't solve everything just by smiling and being selfless and she realized that. Initially I wasn't feeling this sudden shift in Tohru's mindset, but when considering how sharply it contrasts with what Kyo's mother had done, I feel it worked out well.

The second part with Akito, however, was a true eye opener. I was holding my breath anxiously awaiting what Tohru would have to say to Akito. I can't say I felt for him much, but I really like what Tohru had to say. That he was alive. That she didn't know what she could do for him, but he was indeed alive. Earlier in the series, it had been mentioned that Akito hated everything he didn't know concerning the matters of the Souma family. So for him to openly admit "I don't know" to Tohru after all of that. Really a brilliant display of how even Akito has been changed by Tohru.

Overall Fruits Basket has truly been a treat. I whimsically picked it up after seeing the title here and there for some time. It had me laughing, tearing up, and floating on clouds from sheer bliss. Tohru was absolutely precious and it was always heartwarming to see how she kept infecting the Soumas with her optimism and encouragement. The Zodiac theme was very intriguing (most especially the hug curse!) and it brought in both sheer hilarity but also the serious consequences that came with them. If there's one thought to take away, it's that life is what you make of it and how even in the face of hard times, Tohru was able to light up her world with brilliance.

9/10, I'll have to throw the manga on PTR just to be safe.

Extremely disappointing ending. It was a decent show, but this kind of main character wouldn't remotely hold up nowadays. Very few people like the goody-two-shoes or pure characters anymore.

Boring main characters. Literally zero character development throughout the entire series.

Things left unexplained. Is there a way to end the curse. Why are these individuals born with the curse? What happens when they die? How did electrical girl get her powers?

How are you people crying over this? Whata bunch of babies. Crying over scenes that are not even that sad. Then again you guys are the same people who think shows like Clannad are actually good.

So, there are 2 signs missing: Rooster and Horse. Meaning, I guess, that Akito is one of them? Which one?

It is an enjoyable ride. The whole series solely focused on the introduction of characters. The developments are there btw. The last 3 eps are pretty shocking. Never know that it got dark suddenly. And still need more closure from all the cursed things. Gonna look up for the manga soon. But, this is a pretty good series nonetheless.

The power words have on us is amazing.

After all these years, this series is still so important to me. These last 3 episodes are really just a taste of what the manga has in store, & wow do they elevate the rest of the series here. The music in these is also so good... well now I'm just emotional lol. When I was younger I didn't really understand why it had to be now to show Kyo's other form or why it had to be Tohru, why Uo or Hana couldn't comfort her. Definitely makes sense after all these re-watches. Sometimes you just need to say the hard truth and do things you find difficult. Sometimes comforting someone the wrong way hurts them more. They did so good in showcasing that.

Now I'm just glad the story is continued, after all these years, reaching new audiences and bringing back the old. I'm so excited for the sadness and beauty the reboot will bring <3

hmm, i will just say what came to my head watching this ep -tohru is fixing everyone "pasts" and feeling, so it will be good to finish the series while trohru trying to fix akito, and the everything will be alright, even if he doesn't quite "fixed". oh and the reason they have to listen to him is because he bear the "core" of the curse or something, because he have to, for some hidden reason, and then there's some unexplained talking about nothingness since the series is ending anyway.

but in fact - there's a lot for the series, a lot of plotholes and unclear things, and they still finished it because daichi (the director) wanted to do what he wants.

----

so the series was nice, 'till ep17 there was general good quality, from these episodes it's big downhill 'till ep24, last three episodes were really nice and directed well, but have their own problems. i'm glad there's the remake, so i can watch the story properly, i watched the original only to compare and to know more or less what to except.

This was a disappontment. No real answers were given, rather more quesrions remained. And the few last eps were so odd and unfitting to the rest of the story.
Also we never knew who the rooster and dragon were... unless Kyo was meant to be the dragon? That would leave Akito to get the rooster. But that thing didn't really look like a dragon, apart from the head.

I absolutely didn't believe Tohru when Akito was holding her hair and she told him she was happy she met him. There was not a single good encounter of those two so why?? It's right away stupid! Argh, I'm so frustrated! I hoped the story would come to a nice conclusion but instead it was kind of left open as it was... :/ Why bother presenting us all this zodiac and curse mystery when you're not even going to explain it? A very disappointing ending, after a largely nice and feel-good, slow paced show. This dramatic end stuff should have started way sooner and unravel more slowly and be better explained to the viewer.

Tbh i couldn't care less who Tohru ends up with. I first liked Kyo more but he is often kind of rude to her and treating her like his slave. Yuki is ok but a bit bland.

Looks like I will have to read the manga now. :/
