| Haaaah.... For those people crying "ACTION! ACTION!" these past few eps be prepared for... more talks and politics next ep. Honestly peeps mindless action just isn't how Mamare Touno lays his plot. There is action but it's very sporadic and concise. Even this upcoming war w/ the goblins and sahuagins would have very concise battles. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if they crammed it in one ep. The main battle and not w/ Minori and party. W/c is very doable mind you. It wouldn't take much out of the whole narrative. Point is this series was adapted from a light novel w/c is more plot and character driven than anything else. Do not expect this to be a straight up "Shounen" battle series cause it honestly isn't. And if you can't stand that then there's the door... I might be being a little harsh here but honestly I don't really think you'll find anything more to like after this arc so might as well spare you some yawns (and us facepalming while reading these "More action!!!" comments every ep). |

| Rather than defending, they're going to attack them... It's not exactly a "Horizon solution", but it could even be the better choice IRL. Kutuzov used such, for example. To him (unlike with many contemporary generals and historians) Borodino wasn't a battle to "defend Moscow", it was a battle to "inflict much damage upon the invaders". In the end it worked, sort of. It was the bloodiest single-day battle during the Napoleonic Wars, and considered a Pyrrhic victory for the French, a tactical one, but definitely not a strategic one. Prior to the battle, the French outnumbered the Russians, but after the battle (and once Moscow was given up) the Russians were able to erase the deficit due to the mobilization of more units finally being completed. But the Russians never really outnumbered the French even with the much reduced numbers of the invaders. This I think is where Kutuzov's thinking will be panning out in the next few episodes as well. He never looked for another pitched battle like Borodino during the French retreat (although there were two key encounters and several skirmishes by roving Russian units) but in the end got what he wanted, the invaders out of Russia. Back to Log Horizon, they certainly won't be looking for a head-on collision with the goblins (because of the concept of "mass", can't really do anything about it even with the levels/skills gap). Instead they'll do much damage (but not really a "kill all of them") and be able to kill the Goblin king. Still though it's just me thinking aloud. I definitely don't know what happens next. |

| The memory thing sounds alot more severe than I imagined it. I thought it was just minor stuff. They should keep diaries just in case and write stuff about their old world so if they forget, they can figure out what was forgotten. |

As for the Goblin King quest, I can think of a few reason's why -that- one wasn't done: lack of long distance transport, and lack of in-game reminders that it was that time of the year again. About Rudy: Bit disappointing that we didn't get an answer on Rudy's case. Maybe Isuzu got an answer already though, and we'll get it next episode. O.o? About memory loss: Even if an Adventurer lost nearly all memory of Earth, they wouldn't lose their combat ability, right? I recall Adventurers' combat ability far exceeded that of NPCs. About Izumo Knights: "Izumo Knights" are "Precursors", right? About combat pacing: The only way I see the final battle being completed in one episode is if the Goblin King is assassinated, shattering the morale of every other goblin, and forcing their retreat. |
| 5/5 Good idea of the plot, to introduce this sudden attack Goblin, why has not complied with certain rules of the game in a manner befitting. Not only from a sense of history in general, but also by way of explaining things of secondary importance (?) That make it more enjoyable and intriguing history, as far as I'm liking this anime series. Reflexive narrative, while not changing the general attitude that we have seen so far, or almost all the time is used to baste a strategy and only at the end is the most exciting part, however, what I do not get bored, I like it. The only flaw the designs are too rough. Rudy MC of the episode along with Minor and Shiroe! |

Log Horizon is government funded, they don't have much of a budget to work with. I'm not really saying it's their fault either that they have an abysmal budget compared to other studios given the fact that they are indeed a government funded one. And I actually think they did a very good job w/ this considering their resources. It's just that those still frames really get me... |
