Don't worry, I wasn't specifically targeting you. Some people previously were making fun of it saying how stupid it sounds. You can be assured that this villain actually fights instead of watching in the background.

Not a bad episode. Learnt Shinon's past. Thank god they brought up the past episode sooner. Can't help but be annoyed if they had brought this past episode when the show gets intriguing..

That scene about nurse grabbing Kirito butt was funny. Noting wrong with having scenes like these as long as they are only few seconds long.

Why did the robber point the gun at himself when he tried to take it back? How is a grown man not strong enough to take a gun from a nine year old girl? Why did the mother just lay there while her daughter was in a life-threatening situation? How did she work up the courage to shoot him not once, not twice, but THREE fucking times, without even changing her facial expression? Note that she was aware that he died, but only freaked out after seeing her mothers face. It wasn't shock that caused her delayed reaction, as there would be a change in facial expression, and her hands would shake.

Of course since it's a piece of fiction there will be a lack of realism involved. (Though many on the forums refuse to realize that.) I'm saying that looking at that incident, it's obvious to tell wounding a crazed man won't be enough to cause such serious trauma.

Realism =/= reality. A piece of fiction can have themes or be part of a genre where things aren't the same as they are in our world, while still playing out in a believable manner. The entire scene (and by association, the entire episode) felt contrived and stupid. Everything felt set-up, as if the robber intended to die, the mother didn't care about her child, and Shino had no qualms with killing the man. Of course, this is the opposite of what the writer was trying to get across.

Why is there a problem with the name Death Gun?
People find the name too generic, completely disregarding all the other generic names in the anime franchises. For example, with this season's Zankyou no Terror with Sphinx and Akame ga Kill with Night Raid, I see no one bashing on that. I find it stupid to derogate a series because the antagonist has a simple name.

Night Raid follows the "dark noun/aggressive verb" naming sense, but how is Sphinx a generic name? Death Gun is the type of name an eight year old that's obsessed with drawing skulls and dead people would come up with.

Edit: Oh, and the name "Death Gun" is grammatically incorrect. Overall, it just feels unnatural in English.

Really..Couldn you see that he grabbed the barrel when Shino was already pointing it at him,who was also drugged??
Because of shock and mental problems.
It was on the spur of the moment and her expression DID change.
The shock came from seeing her mother's expression who she tried to protect and having realized that he killed someone when she saw the blood on her hands.

No try and watch the scene again and see how only the criticism is whats contrived and stupid.

This is pathetic.Ignoring the fact that this is basically a MMO where names arent decided based on some deep philosophy, who cares if a nickname a japanese man uses, is grammatically incorrect.

Poor Asada Shinon's traumatic past, her bravery to save her mother let Shinon make first blood at such a young age

Yes SAO, THIS is how you handle childhood trauma! And a little girl CAN pull a trigger of a real gun, and a crook would WANT to kill people!

Absolute bullshit, this is NOT how you handle psychological trauma, and you're just doing it for the shock value. You are now edgy as fuck.

... You think a child can't pull a gun's trigger? It's not like a revolver's trigger takes hundreds of pounds of pressure to pull.

I lol'd at the 'traumatic' flashback, her mother is pretty shit, she pissed herself at the sight of her daughter protecting her. The robber was funny, but I guess it's the drug's effect. Then Sinon's voice after the flashback was funny, I don't know if that's how she was supposed to sound like. Child Sinon pulling the trigger too, wow surprised that didn't break her arms, cool beans. I feel that her trauma/past is better just being hinted than shown.

The OST near the end was pretty cool, and nice to know the next episode is titled 'GGO', finally switching the focus back to Kirito? The nurse monitoring Kirito, that's one fine looking nurse.

This is too forced , if the author tried less maybe he wouldn't failed like this .
The bullying scene seemed funny at first but after that flashback is just ridiculous .
I'm not sure if this trauma wins ( like reality is not what you want to be ) or fails ( like author takes a trauma and it's complement and brings them together to fail in the most epic way )
I've read enough doujinshi to know what that nurse might do to Kirito while he is in VR ;))

Damn, Shinon's past, she's a badass at a young age. A true hero, I don't know why she felt bad, she protected her mother right, she should take pride in this! But killing at an early age, I guess that's what unnerved her. That mother though, it makes me wonder if that's how someone feels after they've been saved. Shinon is awesome!

After re-watching the episode, I realized that I had so many conflicting feelings about this episode. Easily one of the deepest episodes in the series, and now I feel that little Shinon was traumatized by the response of her mother, and not the actual act of killing. If her mom responded differently, I'm sure things would have turned out differently.
Shinon didn't feel scared after she immediately killed the man, but seeing her mother's face stricken with shame is what scarred her. Her mother repulsed her daughter, and maybe other's who overreacted at a kid, doing what should be done to all mass murderers, stop them in their tracks.
[b]How Shinon felt immediately after she killed the man(lol not frightened at all!):

Mother's reaction:

I can't say that I'm a big fan so far of season 2 and I definitely would've rather had a "Slice of Life Online" than GGO. But at least all these new characters will make for some good harem doujinshi. Got to look at the positive side, right?

And this week it's time for Sinon's real life tragic backstory under her true identity: Shino. The introductory portion of this arc has taken a bit of time, but with Kirito finally entering GGO it looks like we're ready to proceed with the plot at last. Oh, and I'm kinda skeptical it'd really turn out to be this blatantly obvious but I already have a guess regarding Death Gun's true identity...
