| So I keep seeing a bunch of errors, mostly minor ones, that slightly bother me. I've brought it on myself to make a list of them. In alphabetical order. In order not to swamp the mods/admins, I'm doing this a little bit at a time (and also because I'm lazy). Please note that there may be mistakes. I'm tired. Some of these are just adding titles for single-episode OVAs and specials. Here's numbers/the first part of A: http://myanimelist.net/anime/3234/009-1_Special Title should be 009-1: R&B. Source. http://myanimelist.net/anime/7739/11eyes_OVA Please add synonym "11eyes episode 13". Title should be 11eyes: Momoiro Genmutan - rö zsaszí n é jszaka. http://myanimelist.net/anime/2757/12_Senshi_Bakuretsu_Eto_Ranger Should be Juuni Senshi Bakuretsu Eto Ranger, since the 12 in the title is written as "十二". http://myanimelist.net/anime/229/2x2=Shinobuden 2x2=Shinobuden is not really an official title. In Japanese it's Ninin ga Shinobuden, in English it's Ninja Nonsense. They use "2x2=Shinobuden" as an official translation, I think, but it's not the liscenced title. http://myanimelist.net/anime/9951/A_Deer_of_Nine_Colors Title should be Jiu Se Lu. It hasn't been liscened. http:/http://myanimelist.net/anime/1003/Aa!_Megami-sama!_Specials Title should be Aa! Megami-sama! (TV) Specials. http://myanimelist.net/anime/22419/Acchi_Kocchi Japanese title should be あっちこっち. The last "ち" is missing. http://myanimelist.net/anime/26137/Afghanistan_Paghman-mura_no_Monogatari:_Boku_no_Mura_ni_Circus_ga_Kita http://myanimelist.net/anime/26135/Afghanistan_Paghman-mura_no_Monogatari:_Sekaiichi_Utsukushii_Boku_no_Mura Should these two be merged? They both came out in the same year. http://myanimelist.net/anime/13709/Afro_Samurai_(Movie) Should be Afro Samurai Movie. http://myanimelist.net/anime/12865/Ai_wa_Kat-tun Should be Ai wa KAT-TUN. The group name is written in capitals. http://myanimelist.net/anime/4718/AIKa_Special Title should be AIKa: Special Trial. Source. http://myanimelist.net/anime/2350/Ail_Maniax Title should be Ail Maniax: Inma Seifuku Kari & Majogari no Yoru ni. http://myanimelist.net/anime/101/Air http://myanimelist.net/anime/713/Air_(Movie) The movie came first, so its title should be just "Air". The TV series should be "Air (TV)". http://myanimelist.net/anime/2689/Akai_Koudan_Zillion_Utahime_Yakyoku Should be Akai Koudan Zillion: Utahime Yakyoku. http://myanimelist.net/anime/6287/Akikan!_OVA Should be Akikan!: Kan Ippatsu!? Onsen Panic. Japanese title should be "アキカン! カン一発!?温泉パニック" http://myanimelist.net/anime/1177/Alien_Nine Should be Alien 9. http://myanimelist.net/anime/1750/Amaenaide_yo!!_Katsu!!_Special Title should be Amaenaide yo!! Katsu!!: Damasarenaide yo!!. Japanese title should be あまえないでよっ!!喝!! ダマされないでよっ!!. Source. http://myanimelist.net/anime/1749/Amaenaide_yo!!_Special Title should be Amaenaide yo!!: Yasumanaide yo!!. Japanese title should be あまえないでよっ!!: 休まないでよっ!!. Source. http://myanimelist.net/anime/2356/Amon:_The_Apocalypse_of_Devilman Title should be Amon: Devilman Mokushiroku. http://myanimelist.net/anime/2355/Devilman:_The_Demon_Bird Title should be Devilman: Yochou Silene Hen. http://myanimelist.net/anime/2354/Devilman:_The_Birth Title should be Devilman: Tanjou Hen. http://myanimelist.net/anime/2866/Ane_Haramix Title should be Ane☆Haramix. http://myanimelist.net/anime/52/Angelic_Layer Title should be Kidou Tenshi Angelic Layer. "Angelic Layer" isn't an official title, as the English title is "Battle Doll Angelic Layer". http://myanimelist.net/anime/2950/Animal_Crossing Title should be Doubutsu no Mori. http://myanimelist.net/anime/23447/Ano_Natsu_de_Matteru_Special Title should be "Ano Natsu de Matteru: Bokutachi wa Koukou Saigo no Natsu wo Sugoshinagara, Ano Natsu de Matteru.". | Binbo86, oh, the official site is up already? Good. The entry is now added here. Thank you! Mimerio, I suspect that Comedy is not one of main genres there. Slapstick and comic expressions are featured in many romantic shoujo anime/manga, that doesn't make them a comedy though. Zazie122, I will have a look, thank you. Update edit: > The movie came first, so its title should be just "Air". The TV series should be "Air (TV)". Are you sure? Source? Titles on Aoi Hana and Arcana Famiglia entries are fine as is. I won't be swapping titles for Devilman entries just yet either. Everything else should be done. |

| I'm adding a bunch of short films, for reference they are all on L'Animation indépendante japonaise, also I added PiKa PiKa with "(2006)" to distinguish it from later films called PiKa PiKa (notably one from 2007), but I think it is their first film called that, so if it is only applicable to entries past the first one then please remove the year from the title (still in queue). |

Can you explain to me why the official title has been regulated to the synonyms? Kasumin 2nd Series is labelled accordingly with the official title: http://www9.nhk.or.jp/anime/kasumin/ It uses 第2シリーズ as well, so why should Log Horizon be any different? I'm a bit baffled here, because I thought MAL was striving for DB consistency, but I suppose there must be some sort of exception I am missing here. |

GomuBlade said: lanblade said: They're still considered specials, so we'll keep the Specials entries as they are.*snip* According to the Anime DB Guidelines, my submission http://myanimelist.net/anime/28603 is considered an OVA. It's like all those anime released with a manga volume, it's no different as it was released with a magazine instead. And Hime Gal♥Paradise for example, it's released with a magazine too. Dangerous Jiisan Ja, Inui-san!, Nijiiro☆Prism Girl are all examples of being bundled with magazines as well. Re-reading my post, its a bit confusing so I'll reword what I had wanted and hopefully that's clearer in the points I'm trying to make for database consistency. http://myanimelist.net/anime/1066 the 3rd episode ("Itadaki no Hecate-tan") here should not be accounted for in this entry. It should be added as a 4th episode in this entry: http://myanimelist.net/anime/28603 because it was released in that same "Shakugan no Shana no Subete" Dengeki Bunko DVD magazine issue. This was an oversight on my part when submitting #1066 to the database. Since "Itadaki no Hecate-tan" doesn't have the same naming scheme as the other 3 episodes in #1066, I thought it would be best to rename it Anime "Shakugan no Shana" no Subete after the magazine the quartet was released in. http://myanimelist.net/anime/3956/ the 3rd episode here should not be accounted for in this entry. It should get its own OVA entry because it was released in a Dengeki Bunko DVD magazine by itself. Just like those anime bundled with manga volumes have their own entries and Hime Gal♥Paradise. This magazine is the sequel to the one in the previous paragraph. So following the same naming scheme, I propose the new single episode OVA entry could be titled Anime "Shakugan no Shana II" no Subete as that is the title to that specific magazine that episode was released in. If that is don, now both #1066 and #3956 reflect specials from the DVD release of the main anime. While #28603 and the not-yet-made-new-entry reflect episode/s released from Dengeki Bunko DVD magazines which are classified as OVAs under the guidelines. |

Jacquelin said: I'm adding a bunch of short films, for reference they are all on L'Animation indépendante japonaise, also I added PiKa PiKa with "(2006)" ... Hey Jacquelin. Thank you for taking your time to contribute them to the database. Unfortunately I had to deny a few that aren't qualified for an entry, according to the current DB guidelines. The rest are still in queue waiting on the clarification, and may, or may not be approved. Jacquelin said: So I will ask while waiting, can these films be added? They are released on DVD by independent organization and is Japanese animation, and there are other such entries on the site, but I guess this is a bit more abstract. http://homepage3.nifty.com/maya_y/Site/works.html These are doujin abstract animation works by Maya Yonesho. A very limited DVD release for Western market by Anido doesn't really help here, they still doesn't meet the DB guidelines. I am fully aware that we might indeed already have similar works included in the database. That's why I think that the whole section of the DB with abstract/doujin animations (and their creators) should be revised at some point, and guidelines updated to keep the section in check. Not an easy task though. |

| hentai_eucli, >http://myanimelist.net/anime/6525/Peeping_Life do you have the DVD's at hand? Or have you watched both TV and DVD releases to be able to compare the episodes? An unpublished scene? Probably the one included here. You can't simply take the total duration of the DVD on Amazon and devide it by the number of episodes, and even if the episodes on the DVD are indeed longer, they still could be a director's cut versions. That would not warrant an episode duration change. Pretty much the same goes for http://myanimelist.net/anime/17359/Peeping_Life:_The_Perfect_Explosion DVD does include in addition to the episodes three 4-minute long specials, which are live-action for the looks of it, or animated, but not yet added into database. >http://myanimelist.net/anime/22631/Peeping_Life:_Tezuka_Pro_-_Tatsunoko_Pro_Wonderland From the DVD info you linked: 【DVD本編映像 全10話】 本編:約50分 映像特典:約10分 映像特典:ユニバーサル映画 100周年キャンペーンコラボ映像 so, 10 episodes for total duration of 50 minutes + 10 minutes of bonus material already included separately on this entry. I hope that clears the slight confusion. |

| http://myanimelist.net/anime/8192/Hoshi_Shinichis_Short_Shorts_Special Shouldn't this be 6 episodes? Or 4 if you ignore live action? I'm not entirely sure how this was aired/set up. The logic behind this is weird too, no dialogue or plot doesn't count as an entry? "Fantasy" which counts as one episode in this "special" is divided into 5 "stories" on the DVD as well. http://myanimelist.net/anime/3401/Aru_Tabibito_no_Nikki_Specials/moreinfo Haven't watched either one of them so not too sure. |

Historical tag is not required here. Jacquelin, > Shouldn't this be 6 episodes? Depends on how they are included/listed on the DVD or aired. Might be considered as one special yeah, nothing unusual. > The logic behind this is weird too, no dialogue or plot doesn't count as an entry? These episodes are excluded mostly because "they are slideshows of images", not because they have no dialogue or plot. I mean, if that slideshow would actually tell a story, it would be another case to consider. "Fantasy" is listed as one episode correctly. |

| http://myanimelist.net/anime/23905/Gisoku_no_Moses pretty sure this is doujinshi http://myanimelist.net/anime/3743/ Add Satsujin to synonyms and 殺人 for Japanese title http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Old_Man_and_the_Sea_%281999_film%29 Is this not allowed? I assume it'd already be in the DB if it were, but as far as the guidelines go it says a joint production is fine as long as it's not just outsourced animation, and there are Japanese producer, co-producer and voice actors for the original version, it was first released in Japan, and it won the Ofuji award for Japanese animated films, so it seems like there is enough Japanese involvement in the production to me. I understand it doesn't have much Japanese influence to it though. |

Release type is what matters. What’s the point of having Database Guidelines if you choose not to follow them? What’s the point of accepting new database entries for Specials if you can toss them under old Special entries according to this logic of “more or less the same content-wise”? Like those 3 new Dr. Slump specials or the new “Ansatsu Kyoushitsu (TV): Deai no Jikan” not being with “Ansatsu Kyoushitsu”. Popularity does not matter. Nothing about that is written in the guidelines either. If the anime was so popular then why didn’t any of those thousands of people come forward with those 3 missing episodes over the 8 years they’ve existed? What is this “trouble” that you speak of? The Rurouni Kenshin Special was split from the main series and that had tens of thousands of more members at the time than these Shakugan no Shana specials do right now combined. |

| Jacquelin, > I submitted this over a month ago, still in queue... Approved now. > But this is false... No, it doesn't qualify for an entry, its confirmed. > Why is it still there? The entry will be removed at some point. Thank you for reporting. Though, this is not an issue of utmost importance, so please have some patience. lanblade, Jacquelin, What’s the point of having Database Guidelines if you choose not to follow them? I appreciate it that you guys take this issue to heart. It would be a miracle if we could only have consistent and easy to follow (for novice users also) rules written for everything that ever-changing animation industry produces. Unfortunately, organizing these things is a very difficult task, requiring you sometimes to make hard choices/compromises. Even though there is still a lot to fix in the database, it's in a pretty good shape actually, but despite all the hard work it will never be complete, or error-free, some entries will never be added, despite the popularity, etc... So meanwhile we could maybe all relax and learn to appreciate, and enjoy the anime, even if it's not in the database, or is included on another entry. >despite following the guidelines to the letter. Jacquelin, I think that it's not about simply following them to the letter, it's about comprehending them as a whole. It's not enough if the anime is done in Japan, but released only for Western market. It's not enough if the creator is an independent animator, like some others already in the DB, but never won any awards listed in the guidelines, etc... I hope that the guidelines will be updated and clarified on in the future, to possibly help to comprehend them better, and for mods to stay always consistent. I also hope that you Jacquelin would not get too frustrated here, as we can get, I believe, some more of the titles you have to offer actually included in the database. :) |

| For the series Girlfriend (Kari), the synonyms "Girlfriend BETA" and "GF BETA" need to be added. Also the ID for other sites, ANN ID: 16127; AniDB ID: a10709. The Wikipedia link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Girl_Friend_Beta Official website link: http://girlfriend-kari-anime.jp/ http://myanimelist.net/anime/24855/Girlfriend_(Kari) P.S. I didn't know this thread existed and ended up posting it as a review, if that could be deleted after seeing this, that would be appreciated. |

| Leknaat, I think it's quite sad that you act so condescending when you've been shown multiple times that your "interpretation" (if it can even be considered one) of the DB guidelines contradicts not only the clearly written rules, but also the current state of the DB. I don't know why you are so obsessed with being right, when you have admitted your ignorance yourself already. If you had real arguments for your point of view/interpretation of the guidelines then maybe I could let it slide, but you simply answer with "no" and a "subtle" condescending comment and made-up rules. I guess it's no surprise. |

| Jacquelin, I apologize for my condescending way of replying... but, uhm, my wording aside, then it comes to approving, or denying entries you do want to be always correct on the decisions made, for the obvious reasons. It is never a matter of letting it slide. So... that should explain my obsession. The fact that not everything you've submitted can be added into database is not because of my ignorance, or because I am making my own rules here. As I've mentioned in one of my previous posts, the only contradiction may come from the poorer state of the independent/doujin animation section of the DB, which may contain some of the creators/titles that were approved by mistake. I am not the best with words, so I don't know how else I can explain the reasons to you. Umm... I can edit this post later with a detailed explanation (going by the points in the guidelines) for why for example the Beluga entry was denied. If you want to listen, of course. |

Leknaat said: lanblade, Jacquelin, What’s the point of having Database Guidelines if you choose not to follow them? I appreciate it that you guys take this issue to heart. It would be a miracle if we could only have consistent and easy to follow (for novice users also) rules written for everything that ever-changing animation industry produces. I assume this part is directed towards Jaxquelin's anime as my anime in question are standard OVAs and Specials, text book examples, from the database guidelines themselves. That's why this thread exists. Every user here is helping find the errors which allows you with power to fix them faster than you can find them yourselves. 352 pages of evidence. So meanwhile we could maybe all relax and learn to appreciate, and enjoy the anime, even if it's not in the database, or is included on another entry. What does appreciating anime have to do with database corrections? What does appreciating anime have to do with ignoring the rules of the website that these 352 pages are based on? |

| I am posting this in both the anime and manga sections, since it applies across the board. http://myanimelist.net/anime/26441/Junketsu_no_Maria It would be more accurate to remove the "Ecchi" tag from Genre. The outfits look skimpy, but after reading the 12 translated chapters of the original manga and browsing through the untranslated volume and a half remaining as well as part of Exhibition, I was surprised to notice that the main content of the story wasn't focused on sexual titillation at all. There is a degree of fanservice, low to moderate, but the way it's portrayed makes that far less prominent than it sounds on paper. Whole chapters pass where there can be spoken jokes about sex or virginity without much of a visual reference, which puts the emphasis on comedy rather than sex appeal. Even the first official PV for the anime has only like 2 seconds of relatively tame nudity in a completely non-sexual context (character taking a bath or waking up). Reference: https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/純潔のマリア (only listed as Fantasy, not even Rom Com) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rP--uJZu3eo |

| http://myanimelist.net/anime/28351/Hikari_no_Megami The synonym should be the English title. It got an official dub: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZQBxNBNj3t8 http://myanimelist.net/anime/28347/Guitar_Shoujo! Should this really be 2 eps? Based on the 'end' date duration that means, this CM is the second ep: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u7O67QtV0x4 For literally 1 second there is regular animation and for the rest of the 14 seconds it's game cut-scenes. That means 6.6% of that episode is actually anime-anime. http://myanimelist.net/anime/28631 Japanese title: スタジオカラーVSサイバーコネクトツー ガチンコ!アニメーション対決! Main title: Studio Khara vs. CyberConnect2 Gachinko! Animation Taiketsu! Site: http://www.cc2.co.jp/kharaXcc2/ http://myanimelist.net/anime/6166/Asobi_ni_Iku_yo! http://myanimelist.net/anime/9618/Asobi_ni_Iku_yo!_Asobi_ni_Oide +genre: harem To match its source. And because the anime ended with an open harem, the MC even kissed all 3 harem girls. What a playa'. http://myanimelist.net/anime.php?id=3869 Main title: Sakura Momoko Gekijou: Coji-Coji http://myanimelist.net/anime/619/Ninja_Gaiden Main title: Ninja Ryuukenden English title: Ninja Gaiden Japanese title: 忍者龍剣伝 +synonym: Ninja Ryukenden, Tale of Ninja Ryuken, Tale of Ninja Ryuuken Can you also use AniDB's image? It looks much sharper and larger than ours. http://myanimelist.net/anime/2319/Freedom_Previsited As the synopsis says, it was limited edition DVD. Released separate from the main series, I believe it would make this entry an OVA rather than a Special. |

| Since those are taking a while maybe this will help By my interpretation http://myanimelist.net/anime/28685/ - valid on the basis of Ofuji award (Mainichi award) http://myanimelist.net/anime/28691/ - may be a shooting test and contains live action segments, so may not be valid (haven't seen it yet) http://myanimelist.net/anime/28695/ - it's Masaoka, his other works are here and this was produced professionally with a team. I saw it today, so I can confirm it's legit if there is any need. Also http://myanimelist.net/anime/8191/ http://myanimelist.net/anime/8192/ Proper romanization would be "Hoshi Shinichi Short Short", they weren't even translated, so there's no reason to use an English title. |

| http://myanimelist.net/anime/10028/Magic_Knight_Rayearth_Omake Should be removed. These under-one-minute pieces of animation are at the end of every episode of the TV series; they are as much a part of the episode as the next-episode preview. There are only four of them and they are repeated randomly at the ends of most of the 20 episodes of the series, so they even lack uniqueness. Note the airing date listed is the same as the TV series. A hasty internet search lead me to no other mention of "Magic Knight Rayearth Omake" anywhere. |
