My order on the ones above:

Zoro
Chopper
Robin
Luffy
Nami
Usopp
Sanji

I don't really like sanji...but they're all pretty good...right now im just before the enies arc so I think my opinions of some of them might change.

I'm reading the manga at like 50 chapters a day so hopefully i catch up soon =D.

I like funny characters, because one piece is a comedy. Thus, luffy takes the cake. Franky has been a part of the funniest moment in One Piece (missing speedo). Usopp is also hilarious, followed up by Sanji. Nami has her moments, as does Zoro. Robin and Chopper aren't very funny IMO. Robin is pure seriousness, and although Chopper has his moments I do not really think he is funny.

LOL. My bet is that anyone that would have voted Franky probably voted Luffy instead. I think this poll would be more interesting if it was, "What is your favourite character asides from Luffy?"

Gotta be Robin.
The background story, her role in the Enies Lobby/Water 7 arc(s), her fighting style (lazyness, just summon arms, *crack* and the enemies fall =D) and her dream of finding the true history ftw.

Favorite female character - Nico Robin
Favorite male - Sanji (especially when his eyes turn into hearts and when he yells "Robin-chwaan! Nami-swaan!" :))))))))

He he, but I like them all very much :)

^ Bon Clay sig quote = AWESOME

I hate smoking and lying but Sanji and Usopp are my top two favorite characters. WHAT IS THAT!

1) Sanji - He probably has the most extreme personality. One minute he's cool and collected, the next minute he could be either enraged or going ga-ga over a girl. Despite him only acting chivalrous towards pretty ladies, he does come through to protect any of his friends (in his own way, of course XD). I'm hoping to see Oda going deeper into Sanji's personality later in the series, to see if what Nami said to Sanji after
really sunk in. :) I think it did. I loved his backstory, also.

2) Usopp - or rather CAPTAINNNN USOPPU! Hilarious, but with a deeper fear of being left out because he's not as strong as the other guys. Nevertheless, Usopp brings hilarity and plain old awesomeness! He does have a pride issue; I'm wondering what's going to go on with that later in the series.

3) Shanks - No explaination necessary.

4) Brook - Again, no explaination necessary.

5) Zoro - He's so mean! But he's awesome!

6) Robin - She's the only Strawhat who's actually sane! XD Plus, she loves to read and gain knowledge, and that's awesome.

7) Chopper - He's so innocent and adorable, and pretty strong for a scaredy-cat. I love how gullible and determined he is! His backstory was awesome, too!

8) Luffy - Even though he's ridiculously silly and totally gets distracted by meat, he'll always be there for his nakama. Always. And that's why he's awesome.

9) Franky - SUPA!!! That he is! I can't wait to see more episodes and learn more about him, though I will have to avert my eyes from what he calls "pants."

10) Nami - She'll always put everyone else in their place... with violence! XD Even though I ranked her last, she's still a crazy Straw Hat! Plus, I love how she's always greedy for treasure, yet she'd give it up for a good friend. :')

So, yeah, all these kids (and adults, though Brook acts way too crazy to be 88!) are awesome! Sail on!

Yet another vote for Luffy. He's always been a funny and entertaining character. But, he's become more mulch-dimensional as the series has went on. Most notably in the Enies Lobby and it's post-arc where we got to really see what makes Luffy tick. So, the fact that Oda is able to make his protagonist become even more interesting as the series goes along is enough for me to give Luffy the vote.

As far as the Straw Hat's, there is not a single character I don't like. In fact, if I felt so inclined my favorite character list could probably be full of OP characters in general. But, if you asked me to rank my favorite characters:

1. Luffy
2. Sanji
3. Nami
4. Zoro
5. Usopp
6. Robin
7. Franky
8. Brook
9. Chopper

I could go in depth as to why I like the characters and why they are in the order they are and I also haven't mentioned all the interesting supporting characters like: Shanks, Blackbeard, Ace, Smoker, and many, many others, but I'll have to elaborate more at some other point.

i voted luffy but if i could rescind the vote, i'd vote for zoro, just to make the gap between my two favorite characters and the rest larger.

normally i'm the type to prefer the side characters in a cast. prolonged exposure to the protagonist always ends up putting me off him/her. yet oda is brilliant and somehow i've come to love and continually love the two "most important" characters, despite myself. as the story continues, i'm not annoyed or bored of their quirks, but rather, they become more real to me in their personalities.

my favorite characters (SPOILERS UP TO 530):

LUFFY: the most lovable and hilarious protagonist i've ever seen. i liked him from the very first episode when he said "you're a coward, i don't like you" to coby. it struck me as hilarious because luffy is all the common shonen archetypes but he takes them and becomes more. he's unique in how he only helps people he cares about and hates being a hero yet is kind when appealed and doesn't want sad backstories to love his nakama; how he is hilariously idiotic yet says the right things at the right times; how he's defiant and doesn't give a fuck but acts like a child at the same time so it's like seeing an badass wisely 7-year-old give you the finger. 500 episodes later, i still love luffy because i've seen him win and win and win to the point of hubris only to lose and lose and lose and lose his friends and his brother and nearly his life, and i saw him say he's weak which was wtf, and then bounce back like the luffy i love. i still love him 500 episodes later because oda doesn't think character development is something you do in 10 chapters. anyways i reckon anybody still reading this is doing so because they like hearing things about luffy, so: remember gomu gomu no baka against enel? and mizu luffy against crocodile? and his zoro/sanji impressions? and his CHOPPA impression with robin's hands? when he told fat alvida that she was, in fact, fat? remember when robin told him she wanted to die and when the scene panned to him, in this tense moment, he was picking his nose and said "what are you talking about?" hahaha. i could go on and on about luffy's crowning moments of awesome so he's my favorite OH GOD I'M ENDING THIS SHIT.

ZORO: he fills the quiet badass archetype in the crew. it's really easy to like zoro: he's hot, he's strong, he fights with three swords. but that only elevates any character to like - what makes you love him? well, along with robin, i think zoro got the best character development in the crew. when zoro first joins he's a vigilante, and like a vigilante would, he tells luffy that he will kill him if his dream is ever compromised. okay, cool. then baratie happens and zoro almost dies by mihawk and he tells luffy he's never going to lose another battle. "got a problem with that, pirate king?" okay, shit, amazing. then thriller fucking bark happens and zoro exchanges his life for luffy's. he tells kuma that his head might not be worth as much as luffy's right now, but this head would have been the world's best swordsman, so is it enough? he's begging on his knees. okay, WHAT THE SHIT THIS CHARACTER. this is the zoro who's too proud to turn his back on mihawk and who threatened to kill luffy for getting in the way of his dreams and who swore never to lose. here's zoro telling kuma, in a calm self-depreciating manner, that he isn't worth that much right now but he will be and he wants to throw that future away for the future of the pirate king and crew. of course then zoro survives and drips blood and says "nothing, nothing at all" and it's just his best moment ever. now what's the icing on the cake? zoro's really funny too. his getting lost is the most popular gag with fans. he's so serious and proud that it makes his moments of complete fail hilarious in comparison: wandering in squiggles with the south bird pointing south, offering st. charlos directions, calling sanji Pirate A and Number 9, his idiotic limb severing ideas, his scary faces, doing an epic pose while turning to wax, etc.

WHITEBEARD: i cannot in good conscience leave him off my favorite characters list (though i know i said i had two). i think it's literally impossible not to respect and like whitebeard, not if you were watching/reading without bias. quakes people's faces. hugs sons who stab him. takes blame for ace's brashness with a stern face. chose family over one piece. died the most stunning, impressive death i have ever seen in manga and anime. it's weird because when i first saw him, i thought he seemed really grumpy and halfway invalid, and i thought it was granted that he would be one of the final villains. whitebeard is gone and i love luffy and zoro over him, but i doubt there will ever be a character in one piece who i respect and am impressed by more.

edit: i didn't realize how long this was. i'm ashamed.

It's a close tie between Nami and Usopp.

I can admit that Oda hasn't done anything interesting with Nami in ages, but still I'm very fond of her totally careless fanservice-y attitude, as well as her absurdities with money and tsundere (?) manners. Back in the East Blue and early Grand Line arcs, she was the strongest character in terms of development and dynamism in the crew, and while this focus has kind of disappeared, I think she still holds a very solid position in that sense, so in every scene where the crew gets through an emotional outburst, I tend to associate the feels primarily with her. And she still has some very powerful moments from time to time.

Usopp is the best comedic source this series has, he has the trickiest and funniest fights, makes up some really absurd and epic shit (Sogeking)... and in terms of development through the story I think he is the finest example. Stuff that he said in episode 40 had an effect on his choices in episode 235, his conflict was developed in a rather subtle way through the series (I can also recall his reaction at Jaya), all growing to one of the most character defining moments in One Piece, in the Water 7-Enies Lobby arc. Aside from Luffy, I seriously think that Usopp is the most thoroughly developed character in the storyline of the series, and probably the best in these terms.
