counterattack loop turned out to be succesful or now, since it is a longer show it would not surprise me to see falling apart. Hizuru really was hardcore Shadow Buster, didn't expect her to operpower them.

I'm glad that they always keep the tension and right out scary scenes on a nice level,
even when the action was on a high peak.

Haha nice trick, I really thought there was killer Mio in the kitchen.

This was so good! Hizuru is revealed to have another personality and they took out the family of shadows. It's good to know that someone could only be copied one time. The ending with Ushios shadow in his house. how is he gonna handle it?

Best boy/gril of the season things are unecessary and induce cringe wars.

Its amazing how well they have captured the creepiness of the shadows. I loved the lore reveals of this episode as well.

Laughed when Ushio came just as Shinpei was thinking of minimising changes in the events. His plans went out in flames completely.

action packed episode!!! ryunosuke's pretty cool himself. im assuming this "split personality" thing has nothing to do with any fantasy stuff yeah? its purely a psychology thing. nagomu unconsciously created ryuunosuke as a part of her to cope on what happened 14 years ago. thats heartbreaking man.

ushio again omfggggg CAN WE NOTT. i end up liking her way too much even tho i know she's dead and even if this shadow ushio isnt "bad" she'll be gone anyway

So, major revelations of this episode in short:
1. Some shadows are trickier to kill, not just bash the shadow and be done with it.
2. Three pins are all it takes to "Capture" a shadow
3. I have been simping for a half-boy all along. (Hizuru has Dual Personality, one of her dead brother)
4. Early Ushio return, means a. Possibly a love issue, since both sisters has hots for Shinpei and b. most of Shinpei's memories from the last cycle is useless now.

Man this show does not stop giving. Brutal action sequences this episode and the mystery keeps building with little bits of info coming in. Ryuunosuke being inside Hizuru might be related to shadows in some sense. I mean obviously he was killed by a shadow, but he has a special power the same way Shinpei does right now. Plus this Haine character is tying both of them (and maybe their powers) together in some way.

Ryuunosuke’s character is just so entertaining and interesting at the same time. Shinpei's trying his hardest not to change the course and follow the same steps as his previous lives but out of nowhere, a yellow haired girl pops up behind him xD

This episode couldn't have been any better, it was perfect! Like they all teamed up so fast and they did a great job, like they killed the "family" of shadows.
Hizuru is the badass and brain character that we needed ;)

Now that ending, Ushio for sure knows it all and i can't wait for the next episode!

Pretty great episode this week.
Now that we know Hizuru’s personality changes depending on whether or not her hair is tied, earlier scenes with her will make much more sense on a rewatch.

The existance of a potential endgame is interesting, I liked how the anime is building up the knowledge with Shinpei and using the different tools progressively. The split personality is quite... puzzling? I would like to know its importance in the story. I also want to note how immersive the sounds of the anime are, it creates a fantastic atmosphere

HOLY FUCKING SHIT AAAAAAAAAAAAAA. I literally got goosebumps when ushio suddenly appeared. This is sooo good bro, had to upgrade my rating from 8->10 after this episode.

This whole episode was so entertaining, didn't realise when 20 minutes were over. This really is the hidden gem of this season, more people need to know about this.

I don't really understand the "dual personality" thing but seeing Hizuru getting kind of flustered like that was a treat to watch. Nothing better than watching tough women in anime getting embarassed lmao.

Oh boy, can't wait to watch the next episode. 5/5.

The end of an era. Thank you Wit, Mappa and Isayama.
Feeling half happy, half sad.

That whole thing with the dual personality is pretty cool.

Okay, I said at first i didn't really like Ushio because the tone of episode 5 really threw me off, she reminds me too much of Kaori from Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso/Your Lie in April but that last part was pretty funny ngl.

Great action packed episode, from annihilating Shadow Kobayakawa family and the third degree of Siori's unique one to some Hizuru's split personality backstory and that unpredictable ending inside Kofune house. I applaud to the scene director.

I'm still confused regarding Hizuru and her twin bro. Does she has split personality or is it some sort of supernatural phenomenon by which the bro takes over her body? The old man said to MC that it's close to dual personality and not that itself, so something else?

I feel like Hizuru criticizing Shin for asking about the duality of a perfect copy and original human was a bit premature. I don't get the feeling that Shin is necessarily sympathizing with them or even hesitating. I think he's more or less thinking out loud. And I don't see why she wouldn't offer an opinion on it either, it's clear he looks up to her and is just trying to make use of her vast insight.

While Shin was hesitating a bit with Ushio, I don't think he'll have a problem with Mio. This is because Mio seems to be more Shadow-esque and working toward wiping out humanity. She isn't making use of the original personality at all. I'd assume any consideration Hizuru may think Shin has for the Shadows would simply come from him not knowing whether or not Ushio is the real or fake.

With all that being said, I'm starting to wonder if Ryunosuke's personality is a Shadow himself, and it just attached itself to Hizuru out of a sense of familial love. Much like what Shiori's Shadow was talking about with her family, and how Ushio's Shadow was shown acting toward Shin and Mio. Considering Hizuru found Ryunosuke dead, any remnants would theoretically have to be a copy. So unless Hizuru pulled some Fullmetal Alchemist shit, I'm guessing he is a Shadow.

Anyway, this is going to become a problem much sooner than later if every time he loops something different happens. Though, at this point, I can't imagine any sort of endgame for stopping the festival. Kill every single Shadow... maybe?

Kobayakawa Family Shadows are being taken care now..
so you kill the shadow once and got immunity, good analogy using chickenpox.

slight changes affect things too, it's butterfly effect all over again...

Same here. I'm confused as well. At first, I thought maybe she was transgender, but that wasn't it. Then, I thought it was just the brother with fake boobs that was following his sister's order via phone. But that wasn't it either. Then, I saw how he punched himself in the face to become 'her' again. I guess it's maybe a split personality? But didn't the old man say something to Shinpei that he's close on the dual personality but not quite right? So, did they (the brother and sister) somewhat merge in a body or something?

So Hizuru's personality is split with her twin brother's one that got killed 14 years ago by the shadows, it makes sense why she's so determined to get her revenge and knows well about the shadows, also interesting that they're able to catch and immobilize the shadows when they pin it on the ground 3 times at least... now Shiori's whole family is done but it will surely continue...

Ok now, I was really intrigued by Hizuru, but that split personality thing feels kind of off. Also, they don't bother explaining about her to Shinpei, as the shadow might know the info by copying him, but literally Nezu spills the bean in the very next set piece.

I happened to notice that in the last ep, when the island was getting consumed and "mother" descended from the sky, the eye of "mother" was missing when Shinpei glanced at her while entering the time tunnel. It reminds me of what the monster shadow mentioned when looking at Shinpei's face ("why do you have mother's eye? with it you can control time..."). What does Shinpei's new eye have to do with mother, and how did Ushio give it to him?

Also, I know that Hizuru warned Shinpei to not trust the shadows, no matter how they act or look like, but what is it with Ushio's shadow acting like a real human? When shinpei goes back in the time tunnel, he hear's Ushio speaking to him to protect Mio. Is Ushio somehow still alive in astral form, and somehow able to control the shadow? but then Ushio's shadow doesn't even remember telling Shinpei to protect Mio, unless that's because the astral Ushio and shadow Ushio are from different timelines? Could this be linked to how Ryuunosuke is still able to live through Hizuru's body after getting killed?

This is getting really interesting and complex...

I also liked the method where Ryuunosuke stabbed himself to get Shadow Shiori off him, quick thinking is essential in this show. I also loved the bit where Hizuru took over by punching Ryuunosuke out, you could see the blushing through the bloody nose lol, cute and scary. And man Mio had us in the first half ngl, that definitely looked like a horrific scene until it was revealed she was trying to cut onions lol, I love the fake-out, and it also looks like Ushio is appearing way earlier this time, I wonder what events will come of this

Can you explain me about this scene where Ryuunosuke stabbed him/herself to strike the Shadow? How does that work and why would hurting yourself would cause damage to entirely different individual being?
