Anyone think that Mamoru is going to turn into a Fiend? He's already afraid that they're coming for him, so it's possible he's going crazy.

Another good episode. Why is this show so underrated?

A combination of those elements:

Inconsistent directing, heavy dialog, complex story, yaoi.
are you saying that other shows that are popular don't have that?

No, he doesn't.

"A chain is only strong as its weakest link..."

That was probably the coolest quote I've heard in a while! It's empowering and deadly at the same time. This whole episode was great! Nice flashbacks and fill-ins, now we finally know most of the extent of the Councils' information and somewhat of their power (of course, I don't think that Satoru's grandma is really telling Saki everything since she didn't bother letting her know the other karma demons and fiends that followed the very first ones- I'm also guessing that Saki's older sisters were in one of those categories as well and that's why she didn't give Saki all of the examples of karma demons and fiends).

We have yet to see the copycats and other mystical animals but all in good time, seeing as Mamoru is missing. Guess we know who the weakest link is. I'd really like to see how they conduct this psychological 'personality index' test and how this Hashimoto-Appelbaum syndrome came about. More information of the ancient civilizations that the 'false' Minoshiro was talking about would be nice. I wonder if they're going to flash back to the era with that emperor who burned the first 100 of his citizens if they stopped clapping. Either way, can't wait for the next adventure :P

Wonderfully emotional and informative at the same time; still, as someone else has said before, such factors puts the long-term viability of their society into question.

Hi, I was just wondering where you found the episode to watch? All I can find are raws.

I just went to animefreak.tv, they have the newest episode up already. Sometimes I just google up Aidoru subs and torrent it from there when they are done. Hahaha majority of the time I just wait for my friend (walk) to give me the link 'cause she is better at checking than I am.
You could also try http://www.nwanime.com/. It's where I watch most of my shows and the subs come out faster than other sites I've been to.

One of the better explained episodes. Even though it was dialogue-heavy, it felt necessary to catch up with the story and provide some direction again. Didn't feel so lost this week.

Plot twist haha. Who would have thought Saki was brought in to be the next head of the committee? Always had a feeling Mamoru was gonna screw things up; let's see if the crew can patch things up before things get out of hand. Another good episode that's keeping me excited for the next one.

It is interesting how relateable their world is to our, although not as extreme of course.
Fiend or K is like classic psychopath, who randomly snapped one day and decide to go massacre people in mass shooting. Like that tragedy today in Connecticut.
Karma Demon is like people who are gifted with great ability to influence other, but they use it for a evil cause. Like Hitler, Bin Laden, who are able to convince normal people to do great evil.

In their world, they weed out the bud before it get problematic, but we mostly ignore the problem before it is too late. This bring up an interesting philosophical topic. Utilitarians philosophers believe any price is worth it as long as the result is net benefit to society, but other believe it is our duty to give equal right to all regardless of the cost.

You may think our world is not as at risk as their, but we were really close to annihilation couple times in history, like Cuban missiles crisis. Their solution certainly won't fit our world, but it make you think...

Yeah....I also drew parallel between Fiend type and shooter in Connecticut and similar...

I had thought of something like that.

People like saki are very responsible, that's why telling her the truth is the best way to "control" her.

See how quickly she accept that she can't have her memories back now when the grandmother tell her the truth : "you may be strong enough to get them back without danger, but what about the others ?". She know it's true, that's why she can accept it.

And, like akane, her psycho-pass is really clear :p

I think there are less villages than in the past. Isn't their society shrinking?
And why they are "disposing of" people without Cantus? They don't have power to do anything anyway.
And I wonder if there are any other societies beside their. Don't they have anybody curious? If it were me, I would go exploring, and possibly leave this society with someone for good. Adventure!

That's what education is all about. Your parents, your teachers, society, they all "messed" with your brain to make you able to live in good harmony with the other people.

In this anime, everybody has an incredible destruction power, that can manifest both consiously and unconsciously. That's why the conditionning is tighter.

I'd rather have someone messing with my brain, than hurting or killing people I love

I think it's because it's a risk if that person give birth to another without cantus too, like their power could be gone in generations, so it's better dispose of them than risk the power they need to survive in that New World.

It's my opnion, i can be totally off track here XD

Yes, both tackles a somewhat similar theme. SSY is more daring in the implementation though.

What a plot twist.

And I think I've worked out something that's going to happen in a future episode.

Something dreadful.

But for now... What's happened to Mamoru? Is the six really about to become 3?

I really don't think they need to take out one more of them since it is the perfect time for Saki to really do something.

Then something went wrong in that process and they "messed" me in wrong way. I'm not good with other people and I hate current society.

But brainwashing or erasing memories isn't good idea even if it's for good.

People lived without cantus for centuries, so they will survive without it. So I still don't know, why children without cantus are disposed of.

I can think of a couple of reasons off the top of my head, perhaps they cant handle the power that leaks out from cantus users, pride leftover the the war 1000 years prior, or just to keep the people from worrying about future generations power from disappearing, the last two are probably plausible considering their terrible society. well those are just a few ideas so think what you want.

I really hope Saki won't become the next head of the .... <what was it again?>

In my eyes it would seem that if she does it means she accepts the way their society is and also chooses to lead it, even though the system itself took away her beloved Shun, messed up her memories and took away her sister (and wiped her very existence from everyone's mind). I'm sorry but it's bullshit if you decide to lead such a system that only caused pain and confusion.

Of course I understand the fact that Shun's existence was a thread for all of them so "sacrificing" him would be the social right thing to do, one persons life just isn't worth risking thousands of others for, that I can understand. But if you can accept the fact that kind of mind setting that took away your sister and your friend/love interest and decide to lead it then that's just bullshit if you ask me...
But again, just my opinion.

Even in our history, most of people who could change a society were all the so-called leader. If anyone who can change their society then it must be Saki.
