Pokemon Fire Red since i easily put the most hours into that one. Just walked around maxing out my Charizard's level after finishing the game. I stopped playing Pokemon games after Diamond, but that one was pretty good too.

BW2 for sure. The story for Gen 5 sucked me in and to see it come to its conclusion is great.

Now if I am going spinoffs I will say explorers of sky. That game had such an emotional and heartbreaking story.

I will throw in my guilty pleasure pokemon game and that I pokemon channel. I love how relaxed and peaceful that game is. It just has good vibes.

Pokemon Black and White 2, I remember vaguely struggling heavily at the beginning, unlike newer pokemon games that feel like a breeze with basic knowledge type advantages..

dunno, maybe XY. i know people hate on those games, due to them being really easy, but all high difficulty does for me, is kill my drive to play, so i don't mind the lack of challange.

SoulSilver and FireRed, don't think I could pick a favourite between those two. The first two generations are my favourite, mostly because of their worlds and selection of Pokemon, and these remakes improved some of the gameplay and have some quality of life improvements over the original versions.

Sun/Moon is my favorite as of now. There are plenty of things that I don't like about it but what made it stand out from anything I've played previously was that it was my gateway back into Pokemon. The only main series game I played before SM was FireRed. It felt magical going through the Pokemon world in 3D and I loved the story, even if, now I think that it's alright but better than Sword/Shield's storytelling at least. I also cried at the end, which was probably the breaking point because that's the only game that has made me cry. I played S/M with my friends all the time and I have so many memories from the game.

Also, USUM was okay. I think the story in S/M was better but that might have just been me.

Probably second gen games, Gold-Silver and Crystal. Those games were massive improvments to first gen. Getting to play in Kanto as well was icing on the cake.

As spin-off games, I loved Stadium back then. I was nice to see pokemon battles in 3D.

For me, it's Crystal.

I'm a old school Pokemon fan, and I played Gen 1 when Pokemon was starting to hit big in the west, but it was Gen 2 that I became obsessed with. At the time it was the PERFECT concept for a sequel, and considering they were originally planning to end the series after Gen 2, you can see why. New region, bunch of new Pokemon, the legendaries are more involved in the plot, especially in Crystal, and just when you think the game is done, BAM! go to Kanto, get all the badges there, and then battle your player character from the first game! THAT'S HOW YOU DO A FUCKING SEQUEL!.

I played Crystal over and over growing up and never got bored, that's how much I love it.

Unpopular opinion, Pokemon Black and White 2. Tell me what other Pokémon game has a terrorist attack on a city. Seriously though, it’s got a hype story and some cool characters.

Pokemon Yellow

You could pick ALL the starters (Charmander, squirtle, bulbasaur) along with your main pokemon Pikachu who follows you everywhere you go. It was pretty much the tv show simulation.

They even had team rocket heh

Easily gen 5. It had a story with actual effort put into it, with a complex and interesting villain in N, unlike most other characters GF ever made. Then there is the fact that it was one of the most experimental games in the series. No non-gen 5 Mons available until postgame, triple battle, unlimited TMs, an actual sequel rather than just a 3rd game that should've been the version of the first two games etc.

A shame they never bothered writing anything as good as that storyline and characters.

I think I prefer the spinoffs
Pokemon mystery dungeon Blue/Red Rescue team, PMD explorers of time and darkness, Colosseum and XD would be somewhere on the top.

From the main series HeartGold, Emerald and honestly after playing White I stopped playing Pokémon as the fifth generation felt like a downgrade from the fourth.

I wanna say it's hard to pick, cuz the first five generations all have their charms that I can't ignore...
But it's pretty damn obvious that I'm biased towards the Johto games. Silver was the first Pokémon game I ever played and SoulSilver was the first Pokémon game that I could claim as mine (my other siblings had the other games and so got to put their name on the trainers) with my own team. No matter how many times I replay these games, I still have a fun time exploring through such a memorable region and playing what Game Freak tried so hard to perfect since they originally planned to end the series there.
I also like Platinum though, Sinnoh's also a memorable region (though sometimes for the wrong reasons lol).

We can't leave it to main/core series titles though... the second generation of Pokémon Mystery Dungeon, the Explorers saga released alongside Gen 4, is pretty damn solid. I kinda hope Spike Chunsoft will consider making a remake for it someday, like they did with the Rescue Team saga earlier this year.

You are thinking of either Pokémon Colosseum (which has the white-haired likely-anti-hero Wes and the three legendary beasts) or Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness (which has some kid named Michael and Shadow Lugia).
These games were pretty interesting and I wish Genius Sonority continued to make more Pokémon stealing spin-offs. Hell, I wish Genius Sonority started making the main/core series games at this point... idk what the hell's going on at Game Freak lately

I only played Pokémon Red/Yellow, Diamond/Pearl, LeafGreen/FireRed and Pinball. I tried Ranger and Mystery Dungeon but never finished them.

I played R/Y a dozen times but I hate how there's nothing to do at the end of the game after, if they added the Johto region post-game it would've been perfect 👍

Black 2 & White 2 - offers a lot more post-game content which I like a lot, story is good and overall it just felt like a better game than the others I played. And I like the games as a sequel to Black 1 & White 1 as well, the few new areas/towns they added are nice to explore.

Also, and this is not specific to the 2 games, but I like what happened in Gen 5 - the animated sprites, the battles felt so much better with the pokemon being animated. The sprites were nice to look at, vibrant. And the pokemon introduced in Gen 5 are also veeeery cool and interesting.

So yea, that would be my most favourite game, but otherwise I do like all of the other games as well. :) Platinum being my first pokemon game also has a soft spot.

I would say Pokemon Black/White 2 for sure. It was my first Pokemon game and I loved the pixel art for that game. On top of that, I enjoyed the story and how unique each gym leader was (character design and what Pokemon they used).
