| The supernatural aspect is my only real problem with the series. Admittedly, I'm not paying much attention, but every time they cut to the lab my eyes roll. An element needing better integration imo. I do like the romantic banter though and the general interaction. At least it's more overt and somewhat different than the usual crap. It's keeping me watching but there's nothing yet that lights my fire. |

It seems anime trending is an obvious outlier. Bunny Girl doesn't really do badly in Japan, it's just that it's slightly weaker over there, usually somehere in the middle range of the top 10. It just seems like the rising sun netizens over there are, as usual, very strict with their hierarchies and find it blasphemous to see #5 being mentioned in the same breath as #1. |

| It’s simple, neither Bunny Girl Senpai nor Gridman are as good to deserve the top place in any ranking system. Japanese people think that the Western taste is trash and the Western think vice-versa, such things are very common with different cultures and personal preferences. Many, and I mean lots of, Japanese Otaku are into lolis and such fetishes as well as Mecha, so it’s like Gridman already had the advantage even before the Season aired! Meanwhile, the Western are more likely to hate that because Mecha anime generally do not fare well in the West. I’m not really sure why Bunny Girl Senpai is rated so high though, it really shook me too as I didn’t think nostalgia of Oregairu and Sakurasou no Pet no Kanojo would prove to be this monumental. |

| Vastly prefer the Western list, though my personal preferences match neither. Gridman follows a legacy of shows and tropes I don't have any real love for, and I consider it largely an artifact of Japanese (anime) history and culture that it is liked. A lot of the tropes and recurring scenes in anime that appear frequently in the shows they love are a detriment to anime storytelling imo. |

| Both the video, and the title of this thread are kind of miss leading. He said that it is a surprise to them that Bunny girl is around the same level as JoJo. Yet on MAL both of the two series have inflated scores cause of hype, and on their List Jojo isn't that high and is only 40 votes above bunny girl. Rank 5 and Rank 7, is pretty damn close. He even said that some Japs agree with our list over their own. When it comes to Gridman, Westerners aren't that into mechas. The only thing I hear about that show is the girl with the thicc thighs. Only some Mecha make it big in the west. |

| gridman being high on them is not surprising many people in japan grew up with ultraman, godzilla gamera. i enjoy the series a lot since i was and still am a huge godzilla fan. honestly surprised about Index III being number one considering its reception here on the forums. currently reserving judgement for that series till the end of season. curious what local LN readers like me think of the fact that the country with direct access to the Ln enjoying its adaptation means to them so i summon thee brethren @ap1001 @Botato @ssjokg @MahiaErebeaNegi i have yet to see the bunny girl anime so i will see what that is about. i also agree that the reincarnated as a slime is a very very good show this season. i usually tend to shy away from hype train anime that are not squeals to series i have already seen. since if i end up disliking it and post my opinion i have a bunch of angry fan boys crawling up my butt. goblin slayer was the recent exception because I've seen the manga before the show came out sadly to say i still don't see the appeal other then the usual power fantasy like overlord and kill goblins because goblins bad. |

| also i think for the most part if i knew japanese i would probably just tell them the reason gridman isn't high up is because there is a huge stigma against mecha and giant monsters here in the west. a stigma that personally i never could understand either. but for the most part grid mans not high up because most people see it think "oh its just mecha trash." and don't even watch it. |
