| "K*ll yourself". Woooah. I saw it coming, and yet I didn't see it coming. That goes harrrd. How has that scene not been meme'ed to oblivion by now. I mean. Harrrrrd. One of the "moments of all time" type shiii. Hardest scene of all time. Feels so uncharacteristic for anime, as a medium, as a whole... but I guess that's why Frieren is the top rated entry on MAL. It dared to be different. |
| I adore this episode. Whilst both are powerful enough to fight in an epic battle, Frieren followed The Principle of Least Effort. This clerverness of conceiling your true strength and only giving the least amount of effort to defeat an enemy is not immediately obvious. It's earned from the wisdom granted by Time. When Frieren commander Aura to kill herself, it sent shievers down my spine. Frieren is great because it is not afraid to be different in its execution. It sacrifices a lot in not giving us epic battles, but it more than makes up for it by the insights you get about human nature. |

| Nice episode, dropping some info regarding the lore, and showing Frieren's backstory from the times she met Flamme. Both of them have so much in common. Personalities, demon hate, love towards magic... Even their designs are somehow alike, with those potato faces. 🤣 RIP Aura. I liked her design and abilities. Too bad she got wrecked, and on top of that, by her own artifact's power. |

| The backstory of Flamme and Frieren came out of nowhere and slid into the eyes of the audience with such perfect timing. We now know of several things about Frieren, she is exceptionally blessed by mana even by her fellow elves' standard, she used to live in an elvish village until the other elves got slaughtered by a demon general and that's when she met with her master, Flamme. From that moment onwards, she hated demons, even she could bear hatred despite expressing an emotionless facial expression. Now we also see just how influential Flamme is to Frieren's way of life. She's the one who taught Frieren to distrust demons, to discriminate against them, to fool them by suppressing their mana just as how demons fool humans by their speech. Flamme is also the one to tell her to live life in obscurity, if Flamme was alive 1000 years ago, that meant Frieren has spent near to millennia just training her mana suppression along with other spells she found until she's recruited by the hero's party, even after defeating the demon lord, her tendency to not stick out remains. It's ironic how the great mage Flamme only taught her 1 spell that being the flower field spell. Flamme is less of a magic teacher to Frieren, she's more of a mentor. 2 other minor detail: the staff that Frieren used was not given by Flamme, and that Frieren has a house she built in the woods on the outskirts of a town. Now the final part, after that long backstory, we transition over to the present... What can I say really, the amount of dopamine rushing through my brain is euphoric. Aura was so sure she won, not the slightest hint of wavering, a victory just like any in her long life of 500 years. Oh, man... And then Frieren revealed it all, her revelations hold so much ego it's practically Frieren the 1000-year-old elven mage with a stratospheric amount of mana flexing on a mere 500-year-old demon brat. That scene was perfectly executed and the OST was blaring at the might that Frieren holds. However, the best of the best of the most satisfying scene came shortly after...  |

| What an amazing episode! All that lore from Frieren past, more lore about Flamme and the beginning of her journey with the hero group... So awesome. I had been enjoying this anime so far, but this chapter has really made me start to love it |
