| Officially starting my Black Clover journey and Asta is as loud as I hear. I don't really hate his voice but that's probably because I'm watching the dub version. The ending at least got me a little hype but I don't have high expectations for the early episodes of this series. |

| Been a Black Clover manga reader since it began. If you check you'll even see a few of the earlier chapter discussion threads on here were started by me. I decided to wait to start the anime though, and 2021 seemed like a good time to start. Nearly 40 months after this episode originally aired in Japan. On a whim I figured it would be fun to check on what first impressions would be on MAL. Back when Black Clover first came out....the manga I mean...all anyone talked about was how it was a Naruto and other shonen series ripoff, Naruto especially. I think the first volume's US release even won a dumb "worst new series" award or something from somewhere. To be sure, several comments in this first page echoed this complaint. This criticism never really bothered me personally, but I couldn't exactly deny it either. That said, in my mind this series was just a better Naruto, because at least in this the rival isn't the worst character in the series and doesn't drag the whole thing down. Instead, Yuno is...gasp....supportive of his rival, right from the getgo. I was delighted to see one of the first comments brought that up too. The 3rd I think. To my bigger surprise the most common complaint on that first page was actually about Asta's Japanese va! Guess I dodged a bullet there as I'm watching Black Clover as a dub exclusive. His va sounds fine in the dub. A bit loud and obnoxious perhaps, but that's Asta's character. I will say I was surprised they went with the Asta rhyming with pasta pronunciation for his name. I wonder if the Japanese did too, probably. When reading Black Clover I always read his name Ass-ta. Not as a criticism of him, just as a fact. So that'll take a bit getting used to, but I will. |

| So it begins, two babies are left at a church pretty harsh start and these two are Yuno and Asta seems Yuno is a pretty straightforward guy and maybe is the quiet type of person meanwhile I think we know who's the star of the show Asta that my first impression seems reckless and damn I think this is going to build his personality So 15 years later that's a big gap there goes Asta making a scene first off and I'll take some time to get used to his voice meanwhile there's Yuno who's a lot taller than him lol I think he might get more traction rather than Asta this start of the episode, And there they go to finally get their "Grimoire" Yuno really looks so promising at the start with the four-leaf clover Grimoire that he got and then there's Asta who didn't even get one kinda feel bad for him And after that, the two guys that were looking at them with disdain came after Yuno and after that, an ominous threat arrived and started to pick on Yuno because he has a precious looking Grimoire and after that Asta heard all the ruckus and went after him then things started to get badass from here little bits of flashbacks when they were still kids and then a shocking moment happened a Grimoire appeared before Asta's eyes he finally got one and not just an ordinary one a "Five Leaf Clover" appeared before him and a little in-depth explanation about the Grimoire Clover's and Asta's Grimoire looks more powerful than ever compared to Yuno at this moment it was really badass and I'm guessing things willl go down next episode. |

| It's not so much the shouting but HIS specific shouting is so annoying to me, the roll in his throat every time. The screaming is the problem. It's like Asta's VA is gargling on listening every time he screams. Other than that, his normal speaking voice is fine. after all, this was pretty cool and I hope I enjoy it. (see you at the end :D) |
| Took me just five minutes to drop this anime. All Asta did was screaming around the whole time and gave me a huge headache. I could never bear 170 episodes of this. I might try the manga one day where I don’t have to listen to his utterly annoying voice. |

| The screaming... I'm gonna be haunted by this. Never thought I could hate a VA's character this much. I tried the dub, but it's just not for me. So I'm gonna try and get through his annoying screeching by lowering the sound by at least 70%. Cause even then it's loud lmao |

| Even Demon Slayer is better than this. People who are shitting on Deku or Kirito for being annoying have no idea what annoying means because this show is something else. Eren looks like fucking Lelouch compared to Asta. Shinji was better lmao wtf is this shit? And it is not just the MC being annoying. Everything about this anime sucks. EVERY SINGLE THING. I looked at the promoted reviews on the anime page and only 1 dude did not give it a 10/10 and he still defends this trash despite giving it a 5. MAL should create a separate category for Shonen trash. |

| I think its so messed up that Asta has literally been at the center of every major event and not only made it possible for everyone to overcome, survive and win but also inspired everyone he meets to try harder Especially during the big body snatching elve thing, Asta saved so many people and then literally delivered the finishing blow on that stupid devil. When all said and done what happens they give Yuno the credit and bump him up to 1st class, meanwhile prasing the leader of the golden dawns as the city's hero, when he was the person who literally started the entire thing. What recognition does Asta get ? A nice big picture in the paper lableing him a devil and saying he was the master mind behind the entire thing. Stupid royalty... reminds me of government officials in the real world. I can't believe Asta still fights for that pathetic kingdom, would.make sick to my stomach even living there after that. Psh I would have left there ass in the dust the moment some shit like that was pulled. Yet Asta still skips along like a good little puppy to Stupid to think for him self. Ugh I'm so irritated, 17 episodes left and after watching this one , I don't think i can even get myself to finish the series. |

| Well guys I have pretty much cleared out my PTW list apart from anime that haven't been aired yet, and I have arrived at the big 170-episode boss which I have been saving for last. I plan to power through at LEAST 20 episodes of Asta screaming to give it a chance to find its footing. If I still find it unbearable at that point, I shall go for the drop. However, if I find it OK at least or above, I shall continue; because I have hope in that it does truly get better as people say. Again, this is pretty much the last entry on my PTW list, so I can take my time with it. I'll be watching everything, episodes labelled fillers included, and will probably just be skipping any recaps as I will be binge-watching this after all. So is it as good as people say, or is it as bad as other people say? Honestly most of the excitement is from me getting is finding out for myself how good or bad I find it. Anyway, I predict that I'll be watching about 4 episodes of this daily on average, which will result in me completing this in about one month and a half. I'll see you guys along the way and at the end, where I will with fingers crossed, hopefully be leaving this title with a high score and a smile on my face, having found for myself a series in which I enjoyed. Oh yeah, I should probably leave my first impressions of the actual episode before moving on. And... I liked it. I actually really liked it. So much has already been established in the way of its characters, the world, and its magic system, and I am really interested to learn more and to fully dive into this world. As for the elephant in the room, I actually find Asta's screaming to be... funny. Maybe it's because I haven't yet had to endure several episodes of it, but surprisingly it kind of puts a smile on my face. Plus it also really makes you appreciate all the other characters who talk normally which gives your ears a vacation. No I don't hate him at all, I am fully rooting for the little guy, the underdog with a big heart. Nothing new of course, but it's already working quite well. My Hero Academia is a series I thought that I'd hate but ended up loving it, and I already think that I'm going to like Asta more than Deku as a main character. I think all the characters in Black Clover are going to be a step above My Hero Academia's, and I'm sure it has an even better story to tell as well with more direction and focus. And the production quality seems to be more than solid. Have I been missing out on something that I'd end up loving all this time?? It's far too early to tell, it's just the first episode after all. But this first episode alone has given me tremendous hope. I mean how much better can you get than that scene where they were comparing grimoires like they were their dick sizes. |

| Ngl Asta is damn annoying. He's way too loud and obnoxious. But I don't doubt his choice of marrying Sister Lily. She's damn fine fr. I still kinda feel bad for him. But what exactly is the purpose of a grimoire? Does it enhance magical powers or is it a symbol of someone becoming a mage? I wonder what happened between Asta and Yuno. Seems like Asta got a demonic grimoire of some sort. Predictable but decent start. |

 I'm interested already, actually. See, while Luffy wanted to be the Pirate King. Asta wants to be the Wizard King. But I do like his personality, somewhat like Naruto. But a lot less emotional, he's a lot more optimistic. |
| Aside from Asta is being a bit annoying, I'm glad I found an anime about wizards. I hope this series is good. |
