@hater23: Let’s see, losing makes you think of action, right? Well if you take losing at some point it happens quite often in those…how about these ones:

Tower of God (webtoon), Shin Angyo Onshi, Tenjou Tenge, Immortal Regis (with its ongoing sequel), Dorohedoro, Sengoku Youko, Taboo-Tattoo, World Embryo, Mahou Sensei Negima!, Break Blade, Veritas.

Another thing you could do is just pick a manga of an anime that you liked (Fullmetal Alchemist, Kuroshitsuji, Mushishi) and read that, to see how they compare, you might be going over the same stuff story-wise, but you get to see the original content and how they differ/share similarities, and how they got from A - B.

As for some recommendations for starting to read, anything shounen really is probably fine, they are usually easier to read, with less dialogue than seinens and shoujo/josei, so they won't seem as time consuming when you start, it gives you some time to get used to reading them.

Hi, I'm looking for mangas/manwhas with a mature shounen theme or seinen with action and character with special abilities or even a scifi. For example: Tokyo Ghoul, Area D, The Breaker, Gantz, Sidonia no Kishi or Terra Formars.

If you are looking for a romancecomedy, I would recommend you ''Psyren'' (which is an action shounen with a touch of romance and comedy), ''Beatless: Dystopia'' (it's not a comedy at all but has action, romance), or ''Fuuka'' (this slice of life is the ultimate romancecomedy!!). No one of them has been adapted to anime.

Hey, I'm looking for a manga that fits somewhere within the yaoi, horror, action, and romance genres. I generally like series that are medium/long in length and more plot heavy, but still have a fair bit of romactic (preferably yaoi) edge to them.
Examples being: banana fish, loveless, vassalord, fake, hyakujitsu no bara, and I'm liking mars (though it's not yaoi, like I usually prefer).
All of that being said, though I enjoy romance in my plot, I cannot stand romance with little plot that can be summarized as a melodrama.
Examples being: kasa no shita futari, mousou elektel, and let dai (especially).

So... Any recommendations?

As I don't read Yaoi I can't really help much further than just searching by genre and recommending a few of those, so here's what I found -
Animal X
Genwaku no Kodou
Nemureru Tsuki
Radical Blood Monster

Dantalian no Shoka is kinda like Gosick but the manga isn't finished, and as far as I know it lacks the romance, you may prefer to check out the anime. Other than that you could read these -
Emma
Hakushaku to Yousei
Tsukihime

As you have already been reading Otoyomegatari I had to try and find some others, I think these should tick your boxes but I haven't read them >.<
Apothecarius Argentum
Kyuukyoku Venus
Orange Yane no Chiisana Ie
For some that I have read, just some nice romances that I would recommend reading, I would suggest Bonnouji and Chikan Otoko.

I usually read seinen manga, the more serious ones. These are my favorite seinen manga if you're interested in that genre:

Gantz - great action and very fast to read, much better than it's anime adaptation. (read the warning on it's MAL synopsis before starting)
Kokou no Hito - psychological/sports manga with great art
Monster - the best psychological manga I've read
Another - the art is amazing and there are some small differences from the anime, I really liked it.

There is also 'Sundome' but I won't recommend it, it's kinda unorthodox and I think most people wouldn't like it.^^

I'm looking for one or more mangas with a similar vibe as the ones from Naoki Urasawa (Monster, 20th Century Boys, Pluto, Billy Bat), and am wondering whether somebody might recommend similar mangas. So it should preferably stay in the Mystery/Psychological genre, if possible a Seinen. Is there anything like that a member here can recommend?

@Yuuki_snow

Not sure about Naoki Urasawa’s vibe (he kind of has his own unique style) but if it’s mystery/psychological then you can try:

Kimi no Knife, Nijigahara Holograph, I Am a Hero, Hanged Doll, Manhole, Shissou Holiday, Seizon -LifE-, Ouroboros, Saiteihen no Otoko, Boku dake ga Inai Machi, Ore ga Doutei wo Sutetara Shinu Ken ni Tsuite.

Asano Inio is not the slightest bit Urasawa-ish. That's more like Haruki Murakami-ish, if you ask me.
I am Hero and Manhole are also completely different. Urasawa is kind of cultivatedly-creepy more of less, these two are more of a digustingly-creepy.

But that being said, there really isn't much that is quite so similiar. Tiny aspects perhaps, but in quite a diffrent context. I think, you may be in fact better off reading real novels or movies, classics and cult films at that, I guess.

The one that slightly goes to the direction would be A lollypop and a Bullet, otsuichi works and those of Hiro Kiyohara. With slight deviation from those, there are some thriller/mystery adaptions from Shimotsuki Kayoko out there.

I agree, the first person that came to my mind when I read your post was Otsu-Ichi, but I didn't write it because most of his works are novels. I think you'd like him if you like reading novels.

Yeah, I agree that those are not quite the exact things that were requested. I mentioned it in my post too actually. They are just some random mystery/psychological titles that came to my mind. I just couldn’t think of any more fitting ones (with Naoki Urasawa’s vibe I mean)…sorry for that :P I’ll be more careful next time ;)

Then again, I think it wouldn’t hurt to try out different stuff in the following genres and just ignore those that wouldn’t catch your attention.

Actually, if it's about facinating foes or other intelligent-cultivated folks, there is also Legend of the galactic Heroes. It even fits the realistic style. Well, rather the Anime i guess, the manga style is a bit very shoujo. Through there is no "deep diabolical" evil vibe there to be found.

After a few google searches it seems like the best place to buy manga is either amazon.com or bookdepository.com, depends what you are going for, there are a few mangas done in box sets that are cheaper on amazon as you only pay for 1 item and thus get only one shipping cost, at the book depository you can get free shipping worldwide so for multi item orders it seems ok.
I'm not australian, but i get most of my manga through the book depository page on amazon, they are pretty reliable.
I found another one called booktopia, but that looked pretty expensive :P
