Well, that was exciting. Overall, I enjoyed the show. I'll probably rewatch it again sometime in the future.

Decim's fake smile...I'm gonna have nightmares now.

I will mention the poor writing again; the main characters that are supposed to be or at least try to be emotionless, show a good amount of emotion every time, while the principal character of the anime that is supposed to HAVE emotions is complete emotionless.

I honestly enjoyed this series a lot but this part I didn't understand either. Like maybe they were talking about compassion for humans or something? idk

Damn, that was awesome
I kinda cried twice during this episode *.*

Loved Decim and Chiyuki, that was so inteeeeense
Of course she deserved Reincarnation, that's for sure.

Anyway, I didn't quite understand why that Oculus guy added that "Four - Judges can't work hand in hand with life for that will ruin them". After this episode (and the previous ones as well) one thing became clear: the judgement will be better if the judges have some emotions; that would mean that the third and forth rules are no more...
But well, I guess they are leaving some room for a sequel. (Which is awesome *.*)

Oh, and I loved the detail of Ginti's cat. They way I see it, he disappeared 'cause he didn't agree with Ginti's judgement when it comes to Mayu.

Anyway, the end was really heartwarming with Decim smiling and all.
Also loved how they putted the opening at the end of the episode (maybe that means Decim is starting to also use his emotions to judge people)

One of the best this year (So far). Holy hell this last episode was just so touching. The feels came poring. Got an Angel Beats kind of ending tbh.

Ah well, overall I give this show a 9/10. Enjoyed this show so much.
OP was a clear 10/10 though <3

An ending that does not seem to end, but the feelings often lead to mistakes; for my part I would like another season and close the story properly because the TV series was beautiful, but still has minor defects. The narrative as a whole was not so unpredictable, although the final minutes were harbingers of a novelty that I did not expect. Perhaps in the end, as Decim, even for Ginti the passing of his guests was not an easy step; but something more. That's how I explain the dolls that he has on the counter. I must admit that MadHouse once again, he has produced a TV series is short, but with what it takes to become perhaps a evergreen Japanese animation. I enjoyed this series and I'm glad I saw it. The characters in this show, proved charismatic but have not been characterized much.
Nice OST, ED and OP.

what can i say, the show was kinda pretty messy and had some holes left uncovered...BUT madhouse is really mad producing CLEVER concepts such as these: a very deep and complex theme ahead-of-its-time by today's standards...a little polish on its narrative and this could have been a serious masterpiece.

Death Billiards and this was even a concept way back 2013 as an entry for Anime Mirai and composed by young up-and-coming animators, and its something funded by *plottwist* The Japanese Government 0_0

with a very indie vibe, its 8/10...and again i should emphasize that this story was "Way Ahead Of Its Time"

Pretty good show, especially the ending was quite a nice way to finish it off without making it feel so rushed. Loved! Especially when Decim cried. But that old Geezer is creepy, would have been interesting to learn a little more about him but overall a 8/10 for me.

What a waste of time. Honestly the only thing good about this anime is that ending theme.
Maybe I'm missing something but what does this show have that makes it AOTS, exactly? Predictable and forced character development (Decim feels human emotions, yay , didn't see that coming), side characters (the arbiters and the old man, not the people who play the games) that add NOTHING to the show and just wasted screen time, extremely rushed ending, boring and poorly done way to handle a pretty interesting concept, very repetitive, unanswered questions about the arbiters and where they came from, unneeded episodes (the twister one for example), and just overall a poorly-written anime.

I think if this anime was longer it would be more interesting, allowing the characters to be fleshed out more. As it is right now, I just don't see why people like this anime.

The same way that i don't see why people hate this show... (impressive animation, impressive ost, a good plot and a brilliant director in a impressive shows)

As a Chiyuki X Decim shipper I kind of see them as Jimmy and Chavvot.
Chiyuki comitted suicide by cutting her wrist. At the ending pic in the last ep,she was seen holding dolls of Jimmy and Chavvot. Chavvot has a cut on her wrist,so I kind of see Chiyuki as Chavvot,and Jimmy as Decim. Decim hasn't felt such attatchment to Chiyuki,so he finally gets a deeper understading of human emotions because of that. ANYWAY I JUST HOPE THAT CHIYUKI GETS REINCARNATED AND SEES DECIM AGAIN ONE DAY OH IDK I SHIP THEM SO MUCH THAT I CRIED IN THE LAST EPISODE?! Let's hope that Nona and the Pervy old man lets Decim retain his memories of Chiyuki ;_;

I felt like the show could have been handled better, particularly with the characters and their awkward development and how the show's plot goes from basically episodic to mediocre plot with not much point. But other than that, I have to give it a lot of points for originality, the story definitely wasn't cliche, and neither were the characters, and not many people delve this deep into the realm of death. Solid 8/10 for that.

I was wondering that as well. I think it's because since Decim is on floor 15 he is usually riding the elevator to a higher floor, but this time he was riding to a lower floor.

I really enjoyed this show, I rate things based off of enjoyment so I'd probably give this an 8 or 9. Probably my only gripe is that I didn't understand the importance and predominance of Chavvot.
I don't understand people who say this series doesn't need a 2nd season because this was concluded nicely.
I agree that there is nothing left to the story between Decim and Chiyuki, but they could definitely make another season about the afterlife. I mean, there are so many unanswered questions about it. It's like Psycho-Pass. They could have ended it with the first season because the main conflict was solved, but there were still problems fundamentally wrong with the society, so there was (and stil is) material for more story even though they had new characters. In Death Parade, the judgement system is still not just. There are still problems with the arbiters. We could have another series about how the judgement system is revolutionized so the judgements are truly fair. Or expanding about human emotions in arbiters. Or the conflict with Nonna.

I cried. And I don't regret crying. I cried a few times too. Like episode 4 with that glasses guy and Chiyuki's test.

So sad... this made suicide a very powerful meaning. How it effects other people. How you didn't see the feelings of others. Very beautiful. A life lesson in one season about how to appreciate life and how suicide does not solve your problem and it brings pain to others. 10 is not enough, I have to put this in my favorite list.

8/10.

It was really interesting at first with the episodic parts that focused intensely on the two people's lives and deaths. Really made you think and wonder why they were sent where they were. Just look at the forums for those eps and you'll see. Those were my favorite episodes.

Yet, after some time, the show became cluttered with Nona's convoluted character and her attempts to change the arbiters. Not much closure on that plotline either. Wasn't a huge fan and lowered the show for me from its initial masterpiece-level.

OP is amazing. Chiyuki's skate scene was amazing.
Thought Decim's breakdown this episode was a little over-the-top.

Overall, really intriguing, but sorta missed the mark.

I really liked death parade , I don't know why so many people are disappointed with it ! Maybe I'll know when I watch death billiard ? The part with chiyuki and her mom in the fake world was really touching and im glad that decim was able to feel emotions and smile . What really confuses me is why chiyuki went into the void , or at least I think she did because the mask on top of her elevator was the devil one , please contradict me if I'm wrong . By the way , Im really sad and confused as to why Mayu was sent to the void , was it because she said that haruda was her life , or is it because she chose haruda' life over the random stranger's? Either way I think it was heart warming that a poreclain doll made of her. I liked how there was funny , cute , and nice scenes in this anime, because if it was funny , it was really funny and if it was nice , it was super nice , like with the granny , chiyako(?). While at first I didn't like Nona , I grew to like her , and I feel that I'll probably draw her one day .

Good ending to a nice show, though some episodes felt a bit filler like/weaker than the OVA did.

I'm glad that Chiyuki got a chance to be reincarnated but also sad that Decim is now alone again, sigh. The open ending is okay, I kinda hoped for a bit more of a revolution in the system but it's a good start I guess :)

Well this was full of feels :')

Though like many said Death Billiards was a tad bit better. I don't know, I think the lack of episodes kinda messed it up. Like the focus on the back story of Arbiter's, Nona and the rest wasn't handled very well. If there is some kind of sequel, I hope it focuses on building this world instead of the humans.
Either way a great ride. Really enjoyed it!

Seriously this is one of the best OP's ever! I binge watched this and I didn't skip it ONCE!

Well the final definitely should be watched by everyone who has ever considered suicide since clearly suicide is not the best option.

Anime over all... I'm actually kinda dissatisfied. I heard so many praises for it but apart from episode 1,3 and killer arc, I didn't really enjoy the rest so much.

I did not like a single so called main character, half of them weren't even explored or explained properly like that flower dude. Ginti is just constantly angry.

Animation is great but apart from that this show did not offer anything really memorable. I've been remembering Hell Girl quiet a lot here.

but I guess 7/10 will do

Overall this show proved to be interesting and as usual Madhouse does a good job in terms of art and production but the show had so much more potential that was wasted in my opinion.

The main issue, in my opinion, was the character flaws. The arbiters were full of emotions even though they were supposed to be emotionless dummies. Most of them showed happiness, anger, impatience and etc. I also believe the show could have utilized the episodic nature of the plot more creatively.

I gave this show a 7/10 (thanks to the production quality) but it certainly had the potential to be an 8/10 but sadly fell short.

Certainly an unmissable anime.

The animation is impeccable, the moments when Chiyuki was skating were amazing.

The ost is good too, but I need highlight the opening, one of the best and funniest openings I've ever seen.

And I loved the way the plot was developed between the main characters.

Definitely an excellent show, 8/10.

I wish the show could have been a little longer. I wouldn't have minded if they explored the side characters (Nona, Ginti, elevator guy, etc.) and have more episodes with the arbiters at work. I found those episodes far more engaging than Chiyuki's story. Maybe I was expecting too much for Chiyuki's background story (she seemed special and all compared to other humans) because I wasn't too impressed with the last 2 episodes. It was heart tugging but it didn't have the wow factor.

Overall, I enjoyed watching Death Parade although I don't see myself re-watching it in the future. 8/10
