this episode has a lot of difference with LN, yes and once again I'm disappointed with the direction of the story from this damn studio, it seems they intend to destroy this event

Is this series turning into a farce on purpose? I have no idea what the tone of this show is supposed to be anymore. The first half of the episode was nothing short of actual comedy, and the rest was just a giant stroke-fest for fan revenge boners.

The only way this show even has a plot is by keeping everything a mystery for no reason, and ending each episode on some contrived cliffhanger.

And even then the revenge boner feels really weak, yeah sure don't get me wrong false rape accusations are a problem and a person's mental health is as important as their physical health but for the context of this series its not that much of a problem. The thing with false rape accusations is that it not only effects you and your rep but your loved ones too but seeing how Naofumi's status as a Shield Hero was already shit it doesn't do much and seeing how he comes from another world he doesn't have loved ones in the beggining. It doesn't help that after the false rape accusation everything else has been good for Naofumi which means his "hatred" feels more like a child throwing a tantrum than a man whose life was ruined.

Great episode, Glass was so awesome she took down shieldbro's 'servants' very easily like she wasn't even trying lol its nice to see those fucking useless heroes get knocked up.

Naofumi held his own against glass fairly Even naofumi's iron maiden didn't do damage to glass. I cant wait for the next encounter with her.

Ahh the court scene tho it was hella satisfying to watch the king bastard getting talked down.

And melty is soo cute when she's angry and throwing a tantrum. That myne bitch really went and planned to kill her own sister and frame naofumi for it somehow, Luckily shieldbro aint having any of that shit

the animation in this episode doesn't look as good as the previous episode, there are many differences that occur, the story doesn't even follow LN, stupid studios try to change everything in LN, damn fuck with shows made by bad studios, I hope you no longer adapt manga or LN is popular, because you will definitely go down

Good episode. Glass is stronger than other heroes. Naofumi attack with his all ability but he lost. And other heroes are useless this episode. Overall its nice conclusion to the wave.

Now I'm wondering if the King comes from a previous marriage where he had Malty & where the previous Shield hero either chose not to help or came in too late to save his wife from death during the wave. Considering the Queen has the power I imagine he married into the royal line & had Melty with the Queen. Explains why she is next in line for the thrown instead of her older sister.

This also explains how Malty can be cold enough to likely plan the assassination of her sister. Though I don't think she cares for the results because it'll be a win win situation for her if at least temporarily. Don't think she believes Naofumi would kill the guards and neither do I so either Melty dies and the guards return to the kingdom to blame him for her death or Naofumi protects her by taking her with him and the guards return ready to frame him for Melty's kidnapping to further fuel the King's hydrated. Making it sound convincing due to his recent treats towards the King.

Totally. Raphtalia has the most reason of any of them to "hAtE 3vErYtHiNg", but instead she has been reduced to the unrequited love interest who holds back the brooding, emo hero from losing himself in rage mode.

I think Melty will be onboard to the Naofumi gang, so that Melty is doing this assassination attempt on herself so that the Naofumi may defeat the soldiers and take Melty with him, since he has no choice but to take her on his adventures,

It's not the cliffhanger that bothers me, it's the whole situation. It's hilarious how they had to wait until they caught up with the Shield Hero for trying to murder Melty instead of just doing it on the way to meet up with them. Now the Shield Hero can protect the damsel in distress.

That's weird because this episode has more actual animation than the previous ones and spotted even a sakuga scene (https://www.sakugabooru.com/data/27146309b4ecc89e7db4fe0cb3aa5694.mp4)

Like, that is not bad animation my dude, I don't understand where the complaints are coming from.

Ok episode, didnt like the Glass fight that much but Naofumi talking shit to King and threatening him felt good.
This adaptation has its ups and downs (mostly down) but I am enjoying it for what its worth.
Still say the manga's vastly superior in the way it portrays its characters and events.
Like this one for instance

While it is a minor detail, its still funny and adds some mixed up elements in the moment.
Not that I'm saying they should copy paste the whole thing from manga to anime, Kaguya-sama's been doing that in a way that makes the transition better, this anime sadly does not.
I'm still holding a grudge on the decisions they've done with Nao's personality, they tame'd down his edge so damn much it makes it less entertaining.
They didn't even add the scene when Melty talked to Nao after he was done talking to the king.

Okay, so I don't usually post things on MAL because I don't think people will care what I think about a show. But this episode is so bad and seeing how many people are praising it is starting to annoy me. I haven't loved this anime so far. My opinion has been that it is fine or okay at best. But this episode was absolute trash.

First of all the music in the fight against Glass was so weird, the tones clashed so hard I think it broke my neck. The show seemed to want the fight to be a serious one. Naofumi meets a force so much more powerful than himself, never has he met someone this powerful. We were supposed to be scared or at least be intimidated. But the music felt like... I can't really explain it. I will say that the music was fine before the op and after a while it became better. But the time right after the op was so bad I thought they were going for a comedic tone.

That was not helped by absolute stellar animation. That was sarcasm if anyone missed that. There were the three other heroes stale and unnatural movements. After they were called servants each one slid into the frame. Now I do get that this was supposed to be a gag like "look at these idiots being all prideful, haha!" But the way the slid in felt so weird. The camera jerking backward only to have almost still frames of the three heroes appear felt weird. Now I know about limited animation, I don't have a problem with it in general. But this particular shot just felt off.

The fight itself also felt boring. It didn't feel natural at all. Just felt like one thing happening after another, there was no flow of combat. Now I don't say that each action has to connect to the other, but at least feeling like they are somehow connected might have helped. I also think this could have been fixed if Naofumi moved a bit more, feel like that would have made it feel more alive.

Then we have the 3D animation. It was distractingly bad. Now I know this show has had bad 3D animation multiple times. But this might have had one of the worst instances. I am of course talking about the Meltys guards. Holy shit it looks like they were glitching up and down while they were moving. I also think I remember a bird that looked like it was going to break its own wings while flying, and I don't think birds are supposed to do that.

And of course, I also need to talk about things that happened in the scenes. I hated the way Glass speaks. I hate the way she asks "Is this all you've got" like 35 times during her few minutes of screentime. She just strengthens my opinion that this is an anime with a good and original concept but is blandly and unoriginal in its writing. And I kind of hate that.

We also have the scene with Naofumi and the king. Which was pretty great. I loved how Naofumi asked him to beg for it and I felt like that was both surprising and in character. However, I did not like it when the king threatened Filo and Raphtalia. I like it as a concept but I felt like it was executed pretty badly. It was not that bad but I felt that the darkening of the screen was a bit much and I feel like the whole thing would have felt a lot more natural if Naofumi maybe stood with his back against the king for a few seconds before turning.

I also really disliked the way Raphtalia and Filo reacted when Melty asked if they thought Naofumi and the king should go and make up. They suddenly acted like Naofumi was half the problem and like he just needed to take the first step. They might not be aware that he was falsely accused of rape but I am sure they are aware of how the king and other people have treated him. And I mean Melty was told by her mother to make sure that her father doesn't act like too much of a shit towards the shield hero so I am sure she is aware that Naofumi is not the first part of this problem that needs to be solved. And what incentive do Raphtalia and Filo have for wanting Naofumi to get along with the king? They are aware that they are being treated like shit and that Naofumi is paranoid and an asshole for a reason. I get that they might want him to get along with Melty but the king, really?
Edit: Someone explained the scene a bit to me. And it is not as bad as I thought. However, their soft reactions were still pretty weird.

Also the scene right after the king. When Naofumi meets the mystical girl was kind of strange. Well.. the way she dangled the cross in his face was kind of weird. I get that that will probably be important later but it was such a weird situation. And the fact that Naofumi didn't really react was also really weird.

I really like the last thing though. About the assassination attempt on Melty. I really liked that. I don't really understand how Naofumi realized it was a set up but there might be a reason I am too stupid to understand. Maybe that someone was watching through the crystal ball? I don't know. Regardless I really liked it and I am excited to see where it leads.

I would give this episode a 2/10. (Also sorry for any spelling errors, English is not my first language.)

I'm enjoying this anime.

- I got a feeling that Glass could be one of the past heroes a former shield hero who changed class. I have a feeling she has a very revealing backstory.
- King is up to his a-hole self by harassing Naofumi with pointless tricks. Red haired bitch shows up and reminds us how much of a piece of rotten garbage she is.
- I kinda felt at sone point there would be some sort of attempt to kill Melty and frame Naofumi. Melty is next in line to succeed the throne and in the way of that red haired cunt.

Great episode. That first fight threw at us some interesting questions about waves. Then Naofumi's epic meeting with king totally made my day.
Melty's talk with king was great too, but in other way - king might actually have some other sides than just being boring bad guy. If that ends up adding more depth to his character that'd be awesome.
And that last scene... I so hope he will succeed (it seems he will?) at stopping their plans and won't become a victim of another ruse.

They reacted that way because they felt Naofumi was being harsh to a little girl (seriously, she was close to crying lol) that has not done anything wrong to him, it wasn't because of what Melty said. Melty was close to throwing a tantrum with the way she was talking and her tone so they just went along with her cause Naofumi's already destroying her.

This is the first episode where I'm kinda disappointed. Glass wasn't immune to his cursed fire, that's why she switched to long range attacks in the source material. Also, they took the scene out where he straight steals that potion from Malty. That scene was so good, I'm sad they took it out.

It wasn't a bad ep... it was just... okay.

I understand that music played during Glass vs Naofumi doesn't sound so serious but I feel like it fits for other reasons. Seeing how Glass is dressed and her weapons of choice (fans) I feel like the music used in the battle was her own theme. Kind of like when you into a boss battle and the boss's music starts playing. I do enjoy her being more powerful than the others as it creates some tension in a powerful creature/person that you can't beat. I honestly wished she caused more damage. The wave timer expiring was a nice way to end the battle without doing some stupid pull to make Naofumi be able to beat her.

For the assassination attempt, it's obvious that the goal was to set up the Shield Hero but if they kill Melty in the wagon to the shield hero it would be weird that none of the soldiers are injured if the shield hero "attacked". I'd also assume they probably thought the shield hero wouldn't defend her because he sees her like Malty and the King. If they had made the soldiers closer to Melty I think the assassination attempt would have looked a lot better.

The fight scene was alright, though I wish it was more dynamic. The way Naofumi owned the king was satisfying and it was pretty funny how Melty progressively got more and more frustrated to the point that she threw a tantrum.

So convenient that the moment of the wave should end just when they faced an enemy that they could not overcome and that would easily have defeated them all there, but who cares? If these enemies have attack patterns as unnatural as if they were programmed in a event of game on smartphones, of course the protagonists also have a menu screen so it would make sense if it was a game, but remember that it is not. It does not matter his "fight" because it does not lead to anything, Glass feels like a nosy interloper because the wave went away without having to defeat it But man, just how stupid is she? If she’s so hellbent on her side winning in the end, why did she dick around against the heroes? I would’ve just wiped the floor with them. We burned like ten minutes for nothing.

Then we went through the scene of naofumi facing the king which if we consider his situation does not make him a brave man but he makes in being a total dick. His situation is already bad enough. Maybe he think that his actions couldn’t hurt, because they already hate his guts. But from my perspective, he’s just lashing out like an immature teenager He gets a bit of power and he starts talking shit and it becomes an arrogant.

About the last scene I can not do anything but laugh if this is called an attempt to create a cliffhanger,
-"I need to kill the princess I’m escorting. Should I do it now, in the middle of nowhere with no one else around, or wait until she’s right in front of her powerful friends, one of whom has a magic shield?".

If his plan was just to kill her and frame Naofumi, it’s not like it matters whether or not he was there to witness it. Besides, you’d think that if some random soldier took the princess’ dead body back and said Naofumi totally did this with the sword he doesn’t have, people wouldn’t just take his word for it *looks at episode 1* oh wait never mind.

Of course the hero trio would use the same meteor attacks at once against Glass, these idiots can’t do these idiots can’t do anything right, smh.

What kind of shitty assassination setup is this?! Why not kill her while on the way to Naofumi? Why do a fucking 10 meter charge with Sword drawn? Could you not have just walked up normally and stabbed her with a dagger? But they go for the most obvious backstab out in the wide open where his party can account for SH as witnesses. Not to mention, SH can’t use weapons like swords.

I hope this was done to point out the idiocy of the plan most likely created by Myne or its just bad writing.

Wow! What a great episode. The woman called Glass is too strong. The level of power between her and the other heroes is abysmal. Naofumi has to be strengthened more along with Raphtalia and Philo. Hahaha ... I loved it when Glass called the other heroes "lackeys". LOL.
I love when Melty closes her sister's beak. And I loved when Naofumi faced the stupid King bluntly "if you want to know, kneel" 😂. Naofumi is too cool, he's the boss 😎.
What a shocking ending, that bitch, the older princess, set a trap for Melty to kill her and blame Naofumi. Damn bitch! She's crazy. I can not wait for the next episode.

Yeah, because the series is designed to have that appeal; the fantasy of giving the finger to a santimonious authority figure who has been "caught out" in some hypocritical wrongdoing.

Just look at the highlights of the plot. First, the false rape accusation. Then, the hypocritical condemnation of slavery. And finally, the mistaken, arrogant idealism of the other heroes. The satisfaction of watching this series is all about the payoff of Naofumi getting his moment to call out everyone that's done him wrong, and show that he was really their superior all along.

In other words, it's just another self-insert power fantasy disguised behind the "original" concept of a "weak" MC. But that weakness was a red herring. Naofumi was OP all along in the sense that his character was contrived to have the moral and intellectual high ground from the start.

Hmm Glass huh. She certainly is a formidable opponent while also having great battle sense as well. Glass's arsenal of attacks sure is quite impressive. They sure were lucky in managing to escape from her though. But this encounter shows not just the fact that there is more behind the waves but also how much stronger Naofumi and party have to grow before they face the next crisis. The gaze and the words that Naofumi gave to the king after his threats sure was satisfying to see. The interaction between Melty and her sister sure was amusing. Nice to see the weapon shops owner finally get a name. Melty's explosion of anger sure was unexpected but at the same time hillarious. Looks like things within the royal family are getting serious with this assassination attempt.

malty finally made her move at the end of this episode. This is going to get rowdy. The following episodes will reveal many things so looking forward to them.

I see no problem in Naofumi abandoning the others, but it is a major fault that Glass didn't kill them all.

Overall it was an average episode. Naofumi's talk with the king saved it from total boredom.
the wave was ending. she would have being trapped on this side if she did not leave. Also despite appearing invincible her mana is limited as well, especially when the waves are not active.

it's probably too late to ask but why did Malty accuse Naofumi of raping her and shit ? , at first i thought cause she wanted to steal his stuff but apparently she's a princess so money shouldn't be a problem , can someone help me out here ? i can't figure it out .
there are two reasons:
1. she wanted Spear hero D
2. this will be revealed in the next few episodes.

Like always Shield hero is strongest when there is dialogue or intrigue and weakest in the action scenes.

The scene where he told the king to grovel to him or shove off was 10x more entertaining than almost any fights, with the exception of the Spear vs Shield Duel which itself had serious emotional investment.

This is why I hate the "ughh why are they talking we need more action, why are the fights so shooooort why isn't this show SAO" crowd of critics.

I believe that the waves have a time limit. Otherwise the people would not have defeated the first wave.

One would hope that Kinema Citrus is saving that budget for the 2nd half, but that may be too optimistic. It's not that the action scenes are bad (well, Ep. 8 wasn't particularly good), but they've been generally basic.

God this series is stupid not only nothing happens in the first 15 minutes but for some reason not only the assassin was going to kill the princess right in front of the Shield Hero but for some reason he was going to run towards her with his sword out
lol you'll get the explanation on the next episode. and if this series stupid for you then why don't you drop it temporarily and watch it after all episodes come out?

Aigh first off, fuck this glass bitch, with her "your flame is too cold to burn me" overpowered endgame thanos lookin ass

SECOND OFF fuck Malty with the "ohh imma setup my sister Melty and assasinate her, then probably blame it on the shield hero" ass

They really tried to humanize the king by showing that hes just held back with past fights against what i assume to be a previous shield hero, and that he being manipulated by Malty.

WHICH LEADS TO MY LAST POINT OF FUCK THIS RED HAIRED WICKED WITCH OF THE WEST ASS PRINCESS

Watch my daughter Melty come back with the burner and melt her ass
FUCK melty. She be like “come back to the capital” I’m like “bitch, could you not have told me that after I’ve already left? ffs” then she be like “I want you to apologize” I’m like “did you not SEE him threatening to kill raphtalia and filo?”

In other words, it's just another self-insert power fantasy disguised behind the "original" concept of a "weak" MC. But that weakness was a red herring. Naofumi was OP all along in the sense that his character was contrived to have the moral and intellectual high ground from the start.

while the other heroes only sink them more and more in their own stupid and filth(even one was made pedophile), he is the one who solves all the problems (the zombie dragon and now practically defeated only the wave), he is the only one that receives strong abilities and the others heroes do not (What happened to the fact that Raphtalia would be his sword? Now he ends up fighting only LOL)

I liked this episode. We got to see how op Glass is. It makes me glad that Naofumi is doing way better than the other heroes. I`m starting to dislike Melty a little bit this episode, she was kind of unlikable. I`m excited for the next episode though.

The other heroes are stronger but do not know how to use their powers. Also their abilities are pretty limited because they did not have to work hard to get them. There is one sequence that shows how the other "heroes"
