Thanks to Rin, he wasn't in it anymore, but Rin and Shinji were still on one of the weird thing. Then the grail attack Gil and then the grail go back to attack Rin/Shinji.

What is the purpose of a pawn if they are disposed of prior to completing their purpose? As much as I would have liked to eliminate that particular piece, it just simply proved itself to be much too convenient of a piece to have at hand.

I find it funny how people attack Type-Moon fans with the word 'powerleves' and then people complain when Shirou beat Gil because 'Gil is more powerful, Shirou can't win'. It's like people think it's some sort of math problem where Gil>Saber, Saber>Shirou, therefore Gil>Shirou, which to me is more of an apt use of the word 'powerlevels'. FSN is more about how the battle will play out itself, not who is more powerful. It's a violent game of rock/paper/scissors but with more variables. There are already a bunch of examples in the anime itself of one person winning because of factors outside of their powerlevels. (Example: Kuzuki getting Saber because of a surprise attack and Saber has no knowledge of Eastern martial arts which has means to fighting an armed opponent)

But the episode did feel a bit anticlimactic like how CookingPriest said it was. I think those lines Shirou shouted at Gilgamesh about making swords would have more impact had some of his monologues from the VN been shown in the anime rather than wasting time reiterating the same point over and over in the Shirou vs Archer fight. Archer returning to save Rin was as bs as it was in the VN (someone please explain how he managed to recover without a mana source from a master).

Despite that, I still liked the episode. 4/5
