Part 2 has been pretty average so far. We are already 34 chapters into this part. And the plot hinges on Denji's stupidity. Dude was busy playing with a penguin and didn't even question how Asa got them out of the aquarium. Even if he didn't know it was Asa who did it, he still didn't think about who might have rescued them. |

| We finally have the moment we were supposed to be waiting for since chapter 98 and which was technically the purpose of this part 2 to begin with since Kiga's introduction, the reunion of the horsemen sisters and this is what we receive? I don't get Fujimoto's objective with this second part, first part was centered entirely around Makima and from start to finish was a setup leading to the confrontation between chainsaw man and the devil of domination and now this is out of the way, he had to find a new storyline to tell in his part 2 but it feels like he has still no idea what he wants to tell for now more than 30 chapters. At first we were just confused and thought we fully changed protagonist to Asa and the story would revolve only around The War Devil but as soon as Kiga appeared we finally got a plotline to follow which is "what are the goals / origins of the horsemen" and mostly what were the reasons behind Makima actions in part1. This is literally everything we could have asked for part2, expanding the lore of part1 and give us more explanations now that Denji's story arc was complete and all our characters were dead, it was the only path to go if Fujimoto wanted to stay in this universe or timeline and not tackle a totally new cast of characters or time period. Now we finally get this reunion, not even even complete because Yoru has passed out and it is treated as a grotesque joke ? What was the point of waiting this much time, introducing Yuko to kill her off right afterwards, have sub-arcs dedicated to Asa and Denji love story, tease some weird organisation related to Yoshida if in the end the horsemen sisters are totally apathatic towards each others ? Kiga was good but just acted retarded, Nayuta was good which we already knew and we still have no words at all about death and that's it ? Flash-forward Nayuta in class, no explanation, again this Nostradamus prophecy we never heard about in part 1 meanwhile Makima was aware of every single thing happening. This doesn't make any sense, why Control and Famine are aware of each others sisterhood but Yoru has no idea, why Kiga tried to kill them if she just wanted to control them especially if she knew Nayuta could help her and is CONTROL itself ? It's insane because I think this chapter is unironically one of the best of this part2 so far because we finally received answers but Fujimoto did his best to ruin all of this tension and revelations with flat panelling (once again) and TERRIBLE tone shifting jokes. Makima was crazy, wanted Denji's heart all to herself to erase all concepts she judged obstacles towards humanity's peace and wanted to build a perfect world Griffith style but now Kiga's motivation is just eating chinese food, Nayuta just want to go to school and Yoru just want basic revenge ? I don't know what will be Fujimoto's purpose from now on but I sincerely hope he has a direction because it doesn't seem like it at all, if the stakes are this low why would anyone care to begin now we have lost everyone but Denji who we know is almost immortal, Asa is and will never be strong enough of a character for anyone to care and unlike Himeno, Reze, Aki or Power and she seems almost immortal as well. It's like he's taking the piss out of shounen tropes or something. Try rereading the 'Public Safety Division saga' (or whatever they call it) again. It takes so many left turns to make a finale about 'killing Denji the fourth times the charm with Santa Claus' until it makes sense. Couldn't really imagine reading it as it came out cus reading it now, it shifts gears like nobodies business. Hell, in my headcannon Denji knows something is up with Asa, he is being controlled by Nayuta without her using her devil powers and Denji has Power still within him like Pochita. |

| 4.5/5 Outstanding chapter this one. We got back-to-back horsemen action & then some. Lots to discuss here.. Denji tried his best to out-manuever outta that situation but failed miserably and subsequently devoured. Falling's expressions in this chapter was hilarious and I loved how she flipped out when the devil threw up her "dish". She was visibly upset whilst i was laughing uncontrollably. Also, the chapter title corresponds with the infamous barf scene and boy there were some hardcore barf panels this chapter. Fall simply obliterates her offender and apologies promptly which I thought was just her keeping up her manners in check but it wasn't to be. She was bowing down to Fami and her wishes. Not even a couple of pages later, Nayuta appears too. This was an insane interaction and so it proved to be. Fami discloses all her her plans to Nayuta which leads to one of the most hilarious conversations between the sisters. Easily, a classic Fujimoto subversion. Speaking about subversion, We thought Falling was kick-starting the prophecy when this arc started but it was all a rue to starve Asa and subdue Yoru. The prophecy is definitely unfolding but what transpired in this arc wasn't really a part of it. Also, it makes sense why Fami tried to starve Asa in the aquarium as well. She was just trying to make her into a pawn but that plan backfired leading into another course of action via a primal fear. Fami also asks Nayuta for her help but is promptly declined for school. Talk about a good student π. Never have I seen a class so enthusiastic in that last panel, something is off here.....I wonder, what it could be? One of the best chapters of part 2 imo. It had everything we want in a Chainsaw Man chapter and then some. There's apparently another break so see y'all in a fortnight~~ |
