| I grew up watching the english dub, like most people. First on WB, then Toonami. I remember waiting forever for them to finally air the new episodes with Goku's arrival on Planet Namek. They kept running the old seasons up to Recoome, and then they'd start all over again. My best friend and I couldn't take it anymore, so there was a local comic book store with bootleg VHS videos of the future seasons...even up to Cell, and Gohan's Super Saiyan level 2 transformation. They were renting out the VHS tapes, so that's what we resorted to(lol). Anyway, that was my introduction to the Japanese DBZ, way back in '99, I think. They even had most of the movies, like Bojack. Good times, good times. But yeah, I'm used to the DBZ voices in Japanese. Never had a problem with them when I was teen, and certainly not now. Story aside, this was a wave of nostalgia. A new Dragon Ball series airing. What a world we live in. |

| I had heard about Goku having a really bad voice in the jap version. Since I watched the series as a kid in English I thought I'd get used to it quickly but DAYUM, don't think I could ever get used to it, still gonna check it out though. |
| Gahhh can never get used to the Japanese voices of DB no matter how hard I try. Too used to the English. Will probably wait for the show to get dubbed lol. However, the show seems really promising as it seems to go back to its more lighthearted roots. Me gusta. |

| Tbh I was a bit disappointed with this. Where do I start? Everyone mentioned it already, but it looks like they are trying to turn Videl into a different character. No doubt pandering to what otaku like in their characterization rather than sticking with her original personality. Roshi's appearance off-island was also incredibly out of character, and just seemed like a forced way to bring up a scene showcasing his perversions to get laughs. I am also having a hard time getting used to Roshi and Satan's new VAs, but I guess this cant be helped. I also dont get why Goku is so interested in training with King Kai, when he has clearly learned everything from him long ago, and there are other Kai's who could probably provide him with better training. Surely this is just so that they can hook people with nostalgia over King Kai's silly antics in the following episodes. The OP/ED also both sucked and dont really fit the series. So overall I think it's a rough start, but hopefully things get better once they get further into the story. At least the art/animation wasnt modernized and fits in with the rest of the franchise. Ill give the first ep a 5/10 for now. Coming from a big DB/DBZ fan, I felt like the first ep was a bit trying and didnt quite capture the magic of the other installments. Im also a bit leery of how long it will take to slowly recap the events in the movies until they move on to actual new content, which definitely dampens the excitement of an actual new adventure. Its like watching a movie after reading the entirety of the plot synopsis. |
| It was a so-so episode but I kind of liked the lightheartedness of everything. Goten was super adorable and let's admit it, he's not going to be a genius like Gohan when he grows up. |

| I'm glad to see DBZ again. This atmosphere missed me. I was used to watch in VF but the VOST is nice. So the story resumes before the last movie, not a bad choice, I'm looking forward to watch the first fight. |

| [English Dub] 7.5/10 ... Damn it Videl is fucking adorable! Love seeing Gohan x Videl again. It's interesting that he's free loading in the house that Satan built for them continuing his education without the worry of paying bills as Goku said, haha. The change in Goten's voice even though older is odd but whatever, it's still great. Just makes him sound more innocent and cuter. The voice acting is great. Chi-Chi was pretty intense in this Episode. I keep forgetting about her. Goten picking out a wedding gift for Videl with the help of Trunks was hilarious, and seeing them fight a Anaconda was fun and great. Satan's character/voice is hilarious as usual. I hate that he's living the way he is undeserving but I am so glad he gave the world peace prize money to Goku who deserves it. Beerus' VA is always awesome. His intro in the Anime compared to the Movies was awesome. What a intro. ... I'm so fucking happy to have Dragon Ball again. I've waited for the English Dub of DBSuper for so long... Looking forward to the rest. |

| I really didn't like this Mr.Satan character but after this episode I see him in a whole new light. He's really a decent guy with lots of redeeming qualities. During the Cell saga it was about his ego however he has grown to be more than just that. |

Glad to hear Chichi's VA still hold up compared to how she sounded in the Super Broly movie. Can't wait to binge Super, needed this after the horrible adaptation that Kai was ... |
