I'm perfectly fine with the soundtrack so far, it's different but solid and you can see hints of greatness from time to time. Next episode should be interesting in this regard as well.

Damn that cliffhanger :( Really want to know what happens next now.

Hm maybe this has been said before but don't got the time nor energy to read through all these posts, but I just noticed that Shirou and Archer have the same squiggly end to their eyebrows. Either coincidence, other people might have it too, or it actually indicates something. They're related...?

One thing I forgot to mention - this episode strengthens my belief that Shirou is going to be an awesome protagonist.

Maybe a subtle remix of it. The original would have felt very out of place. I'm happy with the music that was used.

I wouldn't mind it not standing out as much as in the novel, but I disagree that it would have felt out of place - in fact, I think it would have made the scene pretty ominous. It's a dim tune that would have set the mood perfectly. But like I said, I'm happy with the soundtrack myself.

All the criticism I pretty much "unleash" in my analyses is basically a list of things that I would have fixed (or at least considered) if I were to improve the episode.

Can I have a translation? What plot hole is he referring to...?

kirei was talking about servents who have lost their master have a chance to rejoin the holy grail battle. this clearly isn't possible because once the servent's master is dead, THE SERVENT IS ALSO DEAD. PLOT HOLE!!! LOL. y didn't i realize this when i watched FSN & FZ...

The servant doesn't die, it is the easiest way to get rid of them (no source of mana).
The servants just have to find a new master before they run out of mana.

He didn't say they die immediately after the master dies. They just need to find another to continue sustaining themselves. (usually).

Yeah, I hate it so much when an almost-perfect anime has some obvious things that can be improved. And even though the lack of my favorite VN soundtrack is not enough by itself, this adaptation can ruin my hope to get one more 10/10 on my list.

Info dump episode. Never played the game but this episode feels like its heavily referencing Fate/Zero. Is this part/similar to the original content or did ufotable add in lines to further connect/reference the two titles?

A lot of this stuff is in the VN as well, it's just the anime version allows for certain visual clues that simply weren't viable in the VN. Got to say that using some of the music from F/Z is a pretty cool addition as well.

Fate/zero came out AFTER Fate/stay Night, so its more like Fate/Zero is referencing FS/N than the other way around,

in fact F/Z went into the show expecting you to have read or at least known the plot of FS/N before you watched/read it.

I know it came out after, that's why I'm asking if they added parts of the orignal dialogue to make it more settling since the prequel came after.

No its not referencing Zero. You are simply already spoiled on the plot twist so anything and almost everything that this anime will portray as a plot twist will feel like a Zero recap for you.

Its 1:1 adaptation of the novel so far.

quick question based on all the info dump of this episode

are servants actual old heroes/legends/whatever that are summond or are servants just based on actual people from the past

so if someone summoned a saber class in a different holy grail war would it be the same saber or just someone similiar.

Very similar. The events of the fourth war are heavily referenced in the original game, Fate/zero was built off these snippets which is why you'll find priests recommend watching this before Fzero.

It's a testament to how good Fate/Zero was as a prequel. Most of the stuff in this episode were in the VN.

They are actual heroes yes, but their form in which they are summoned is based on the legend itself.

On the second question, note this is in a spoiler for a reason.

Also the heroic spirits are (big spoiler)

Archer class servants have an ability that allow them to survive without a source of mana from their master upwards to a couple of days. Servants who no longer have a mana link that don't have the independent action skill like the Archer class can survive upwards to 3 hours without a master.

Not a plot hole buddy.

We all know it's tempting. Don't worry about understanding every little detail though. Ufotable is being very faithful, which means you'll get all the important information you need at the right time. Asking further questions about things that haven't been revealed yet in F/SN generally leads to stuff you don't need to know, or shouldn't know, or even spoilers.

Feel free to read between the lines. But avoid asking questions about that sort of stuff. :P

Massive info dump from priest give us the rules of the game. Fair enough. They must spend a small fortune everytime they do a fight sequence. I think Berserker will give us more than enough action next episode.

Where in devils name did a skinny gal like Rin get all that azzz on display in this episode?! LOL. Animators give fanservice even when trying to pretend they don't.

I agree with you but,

Since the Nasuverse is full of plot holes, she'd still be summoned the same. And most likely with all her weapons. In another HGW, if the master summons A Saber, they would get someone else, unless they have the specific catalyst to summon THIS Saber.

Yep, I understand trying not to spoil anything, but still the person should have an ability to make right guesses about Servant's identities. And now that I think of it, almost every Servant has some slight "Nasu-only" difference from his/her legend.

Pretty nice episode, felt a lot quicker than the last two (23 minute format is harder to get used to than I thought) but it did what it needed to do and ended at the perfect spot. Joji Nakata's voice is still sexy af

Kirei reacting to the name Emiya was a pretty neat bonus.
