They could have saved a whole lot of fire power by just aiming for the thin hair of land, that defys the law of physics by holding up that big mass of land, from the start.
I like Hentai, you like real life.
Instead of complaining about my tastes, be grateful you now don't have to compete against me.
So I was wrong, gear 3rd activates, lasts a minute, and then he shrinks for a minute and comes back to full size after that minutes up. Logical? From the point that he blows so much air into his bones he turns giant onward, no. It really makes no sense. Consistent with rules? Mostly, apart from the fact that in a shounen anime like this where time is somewhat convoluted, Luffy could have gear 3rd on for an entire episode or for a few minutes in real time. Remember when he was under water for like an entire episode? Is it awesome? Hell yes, and the rules are consistent enough that even though it makes even less logical sense than One Piece normally would, I suppose I can accept that Luffy doesn't understand why his body works this way either and the fact that it mostly sticks to rules and with it brings weakness and advantage makes me love it. It is indeed awesome.
The chibi Luffy punch was adorable and hilarious. It's just like him to never give up even if he's so small he can be held in one hand by his opponent. The anger Lucci showed from it also characterizes him in the way that I love. Little emotional changes that break the usual image of the villain go a long way to make them feel like people. I really love this fight once Luffy went into gear 2 even if I don't like that Lucci has the six powers. It was awesome to see Lucci break down due to how much that giant punch took out of him!
It only just hit me in the Franky and Robin scene that they are amazing together in this situation for one reason. Both had their lives messed up due to a Spanda even if it was in a different generation of them. Both Spandam and Spandine cheated Robin and Franky and ruined their lives so to speak. Now, both have a really good reason to hate and want to fight against Spandam here and now. They can relate to each other even if they don't know it to that degree yet. It's poetic really that they're the ones to get revenge on him.
Speaking of that scene all together I really liked it. It made me realize just why Franky loves the Straw Hats so much. Why help Robin when he's not even a pirate? Well because the Straw Hats are doing what he's always wanted to do and tried his hardest to do and that is fight common sense to save your friend doing the impossible. He tried to stop a train in his past with his bare hands for Tom's sake, he fought against the world government too but he couldn't do it. Finally he's found some people who share that same intent, a love for their nakama so strong that they'd fight the world without hesitation. Those are people Franky can respect the most because they align with exactly the thing he values most and that's special. That, and as he put it, they gave him another chance to crush Spanda for killing the person he loved. It gives a ton of context and depth to Franky and I love that. He's able to bet everything on them because he can see that they're people he can agree with in every way, they're doing what he wished he could once do.
I think him stopping the elephant was a nod back to him trying to stop the train. I may be pushing it, but to me it said that he's gotten stronger now and he's strong enough to fight back even against the world government, something he failed last time. He's ready to fight with the people he respects. Alike before with Tom, this time he tried to stop something a man should not be able to hold back with his bare(robot) hands, literally saving the person from being taken away, someone in the same position Tom was. And the way he stopped Funkfreed and threatened it to stop attacking before using it as the weapon to crush Spanda was freaking wonderful. I can see Franky becoming one of my favorite characters easily...
Robin was so moved by Franky's words that she was able to fight back too. It was a reminder that this is different from the last buster call. Saul was right. No one was born to be alone in this world and finally she has people she can fight with. They can fight back now.
The frankies and shipwrights being cornered like that is scary. I was thinking that this may be the first nice battleship and admiral who would give them a break but
the preview for next episode seems to imply otherwise.
At first I thought Kokoro being a mermaid was dumb but I suppose it's been heavily foreshadowed. Being able to talk to Yokozuna, being so confident when out on the sea, and being so close with Tom to mention a few. Everyone's face when they realized what was happening was hysterical.
And lastly, Luffy put it best.
"Why did they fire on their own ship? Are they idiots?"
There's a lot of truth to that and I think it's wonderful that Luffy thought it was so dumb that he couldn't even understand that it was intended. They did way more damage to innocent soldiers than to Luffy...
Lucci's heavy injuries from Luffy's first Gear Third attack was able to have the Straw Hat buy enough time to get out of his powerless state! Now that he's used both Gears against Lucci, I wonder how he'll continue the fight.
While Franky proved once again that he is an absolute badass, I honestly do not know what will be able to save the Franky Family and Galley-La Foremen atop those giants if that Vice Admiral really gave the signal to launch their cannons. I legitimately wish that someone would be able to stop those ships in time...
I knew that the mermaid Sanji saw would somehow be Kokoro and I was right! I don't really know if that's something to be very happy about though.
ZzZzZzZ
GET THE FUCK ON WITH IT FOR CHRISTS SAKES
every arc is worse than the last
hey guys let's read a 10,000 page novel on me doing my fucking laundry
lol I had a feeling it be the grandma and was laughing so hard at sanji. Glad to see that Luffy hurt him. And now that the straw hats will be saved the ones I’m worried for most are the shipwrights and franky crew. Someone will need to save them now.
Also I really like franky. It was so good to see him throw the elephant on him. He a got his own goffyness like lot of straw hats. But he a really great character
