Well, I was hyped for this episode...didn't really live up to what I was expecting though.

Few good moments in this episode like Tanaka's crazy line shot and Hinata's amazing save with his leg but nothing else really stood out to me.

When it was match point it didn't really feel like match point, probably cause there's still more to come.

Oikawa got some screen time...what happened to his face...

Well, I'm still excited for next weeks episode!

Good episode :)

I liked the captain dynamic this ep.
Oikawa, what team are you supporting?? lol, it was a treat to see the Great King.
Kita is amazing. Really love when he talks, although I don’t really understand what he’s saying... Respect to him.
Tanaka had a crazy line shot! Still kinda like the cut shot more though— but that’s probably cause of the development he got that episode. Actually this season really has highlighted Tanaka, and has done it very well.
Kageyama and Atsumu vying for best setter throughout this entire season. Atsumu at the end 😭 was awesome.
Two more eps...

The animation was awful and the soundtracks were all over the place. Not sure how the rest rate it so high.

Yeah art and animation this season is definitely terrible for the most part. But the character development and volleyball sakuga is definitely there. It’s definitely Haikyu.

The amount of pressure in this episode truly is a lot, but I enjoyed it so much! I'm so happy about Tanaka and his talents, it's so awesome to see him enjoy being on a roll.
Only two more episodes until the season's close, let's make them good :D

Yes I agree, character development and story in this season is awesome. But I wouldn't call animation "terrible". It surely isn't as good as it used to be and the art-style is often very inconsistent, but it still has a lot of great scenes like Hinata's receive and such. The best thing is that new Haikyuu still gives me a lot of thrill and excitement.

This was just as intense as the previous episode. Kageyama's serves were amazingly precise, Hinata's foot receive was surprising, and of course Tanaka's sharp straight was unbelievable. They're really giving it their all, while Inarizaki is also extremely good. I wonder whether this deuce will continue until 27-30 points or if Karasuno will get the one decisive point next.

Oikawa's cameo appearance made me so happy, I've missed him and the rest of Aoba Johsai T_T

Literally, I absolutely love this match in the manga but to me, all but four episodes have been butchered this season. Genuinely surprised that most of this forum thinks this was a great episode. The art and some questionable director choices made this a meh episode, carried by a few solid scenes. At least we can bank on the last episode of the match looking good :/

Even though the episode duration is same as always, this one seemed a bit long and contented; which is what we desire. They focused well on most of the characters and their game condition. The BGM is flawless and blends with the scenes . Also, it's really refreshing to see Hinata who is not stressed up but cheerfully aiming for the top!

I guess I'm in the minority to find this episode disappointing. This match just feels so dragged out, with every little thing apparentely warranting a flashback.

Bad animation and inconsistent art aside, I'm also disappointed with how little presence Hinata has had this season. A large part of the previous season was about his development in regard to volleyball and it feels like he's barely been on screen this season.

We had a few fun moments this episode though, and the characters are still good enough to keep me watching.

All that ear hype just for a few seconds of salty scenes of Oikawa lol...

And the match goes on, but next week will finally determine the winner. Finally. At this point it seems like they’re dragging the match. I mean, why don’t they ever finish a game with 25 points? Why is it always a close win/lose with the 2 point advantage thing?

LMAO I KNOW RIGHT EVERYONE GOT SO EXCITED TO SEE OIKAWA BUT THEN-
also i think it went into a deuce just to showcase that Inarizaki is not a team that karasuno can beat easily, and whenever a match against a powerhouse school goes into a third set and THEN a deuce, i think it showcases just how high level the athletes are meant to be and how we shouldnt think for a second that beating them is not going to take some work.

Last week was a great episode, this one was... eh. Maybe it's cause the match is that dragged out now (even though I knew it's going the full season), but the episode fell flat this time around, and the visuals while not the worst this show has showcased this season, does still feel somewhat cheap again, even reused some sequences too at times. The direction overall this season has been really, really sloppy and its beyond just the visuals and the outsourcing, the whole feel and pace of the match feels off too lacking grip and intensity except for two episodes for me.

I get that. I really get that, but every single important match somewhat ends the same way so I can’t help but think that they’re dragging things out on purpose. Like ok we got the message but irl not every hard match ends the same way... (yeah the word I’ve been looking for is deuce thanks for reminding lol)

And when Karasuno loses a set they lose it with a high point difference like 16-25 but they never win any set that way lol

OMG I am on the edge of my seat. They have to make it to play Nekoma. T-T Loved the episode and the title for the next episode is very promising. Kageyama is just a force to be reckoned with. And him shouting at Hinata to complain at the end was just ace. <3 And the Tanaka/Kageyama back and forth resulting in that amazing line shot and Tsuki saying he didn't jump high enough.... ahhh such a good episode. It had all the things!

I agree with your opinion on the episode, I just wanted to mention that if Hinata's lack of presence is one of your issues at the moment, don't worry he gets plenty of focus from this point on in the story.

Yea this ep just like......exists.
I really just makes me wish they brought back all the old animation staff from the previous three seasons. I can understand the covid19 chaos still ongoing right now, but excuses can only do so much even if they’re justified. Alas, not everything works out that conveniently in the entertainment industry.

Episode was looking pretty rough. Not as bad as the infamous episode 2, but you can see the quality shift all over the place. And more than the animation, you can tell the storyboard was suffering. A receive cuts to a last. A spike to the right of two blockers cuts to a spike in between the two blockers. It's a real shame.

There are so many things I could say because DAMN YES back to back incredible episodes this is what I’m talking about!! And there were so many highlights from the twins to asahi’s service ace to daichi’s spike, but i have to talk about 3.
1. TANAKA!!! I adored the moments of trust between him and kageyama this episode. That moment when he gave kags a thumbs up, my heart soared. And it’s not just thanks to tanaka. To think from where we met kageyama, he’d be here. Not only trusting in his teammates but actively supporting them by paying attention to their conditions, trusting that he knows best and giving them confidence through his trust and belief. Man it’s just beautiful. Atsumu, you asked where goody-two shoes went, but it’s your fault. You lit a fire under his ass and it’s paying off big time.
2. Kita’s speech. I could say so much on this, but I just want to say this. I love that Kita, a person with a methodical and persevering nature, acknowledges that geniuses don’t just happen. Yes, it may take a certain kind of person like an atsumu or hinata or kageyama to become a genius, but only because they’re able to throw themselves into something 200%, with no apparent fear or apprehension, they just give their all. They really are volleyball idiots; madmen who will literally work their butts off to do what they want and it’s not just innate talent, it’s tenacity and faith that their hard work will pay off. Excellent. Kita, you’re my MVP of the season.
3. Right, I know I’ve already ranted a lot, but this is the big one for me. It was such a small moment but I just had to point it out. Tsukki saying ‘man i could really eat some carbs right now’. Like YESSS maybe it’s just because I’m tsukki obsessed and like to read into what people say, but I adore this line. Because you may just think tsukki is tired and needs some energy. But both literally and more metaphorically, tsukki has never been a big eater. Throughout the series, most notably at the Tokyo camp arc, people always made a deal out of him not eating a lot and trying to get him to eat more. Most notably, kuroo, who was also important in bringing tsukki out of his shell. He never ate a lot because he never put in that much effort so didn’t use up much energy, but all these people around him were like ‘no, eat more’ as if they were saying come on tsukki, we know you can put in more effort. We’re helping you, take this food and use it. And now, to be in a game where he’s putting in so much damn effort he really needs to eat, he needs that energy because he wants to fight that much more. Jus yessss. I don’t know if I read too much into that one line but it really caught me. I love that haikyuu can slip in these things and send us messages like that. Even more so because it fits into the ending of the last episode where everyone said they were hungry, and now tsukki, who is now part of the team where before he distanced himself, is hungry too. Our boys are starving. Let them feast on victory!!!!!

Another fire episode full of excitement. The progression of this match felt stagnant throughout the season but in this final stretch of episodes, things have really picked up. I'm assuming the match will end in the next episode and I can't wait to see the rest.

Glad we saw oikawa and his blue earbuds, I’ve been waiting all week. He be looking as great as ever :)) that kid though lmaoo

Hinata coming in with that noya move, huh OKAY I SEE YOU

Loving the mindsets, wish I had one like that

Kageyama has been hitting different lately...in a good way ofc

Really glad Tanaka is getting so much attention, he’s always been my favorite karasuno player, and one of my favorites in general. Nobody ever notes that fact that he is the only player to have been in EVERY. SINGLE. MATCH.

This show is now a 5/10. I wanted this match to be over at least two episodes ago. Not that I’m not enjoyed it, but as Tanaka would say,”chop, chop man bun!!” Imo, anime should be on the faster paced side....But no, they just have to go on and on with the side conversations and commentaries with this one. Ily kita, but if you had just stayed quiet it would have been done with. I loved what u had to say, but now isn’t the the time bby

Let’s see what’s in store for the next two episodes...although I’m pretty upset, ngl I’m excited as fuck to see the results ahh I can’t wait to see it animated

Totally agree they are dragging this on waayy too much. It gets old when in every single match both teams go past 24 and keep on continuing until one has to get 2+

If only this season could maintain this consistency, then it would've been a banger. Finally a proper ep that actually shows highlights from both sides rather than just solely focusing on the accent boyz. And on top of that some dope monologues and nice action

Still really wishing Hinata gets more time to shine though, especially after being virtually sidelined the whole of last season

idk why but the story is little messy, this story might be work for a manga but won't work at all for an anime because the focus will be different for example in a manga 1 appearance one character in a scene means a lot but in anime it could be 1 sec and means nothing, little bit disappointing tbh. i have to give this kind of criticism since I'm a fan of this anime tbh

Awesome episode! I wasn't sure what Tanaka meant by "I'm going to swallow my pride but i need you to do this" last episode, but this episode made it very clear. I'm very surprised that Kageyama gave him the big "No."

Love the trust between the two of them this episode. So many good plays too!! The most touching one for me was Tanaka's line shot. Asahi's no-touch service ace, Noya save, Kita save were all amazing too! Man, i love this show.

I'm honestly so pleased with this episode. Despite a lot of the early moments being drawn weirdly, the animation was pretty on point. There was also a distinct moment about a third of the way through where we saw a close-up of Daichi's face and I remember thinking "wow that looks so much better" and from then on the art was really good.

I really liked the build-up to Kageyama sending the ball to Tanaka. It was probably the most suspense I've felt so far in this season, which is pretty great. Even if the art isn't as striking as Furudate's illustrations, that moment felt like an improvement over the manga to me.
