| Garp as Shanks works surprisingly well, though his crew wasn't quite as fleshed out. That short stoy of Luffy though would fit quite nicely into the "real" One Piece as wel. |

| Hard to see this version of "Nami" with blue hair color. That's still very odd and strange to me. I find it cool that they used the same VA. It fits very well, though she doesn't have equal personality as Nami. Lovely animation. The animation was really great. I would love another ep. of this were these parallel world meets in a special ep. That would really be great to watch. Ofc, Oda is the one who writes the story for that special ep. Hard to imagine Garp saying anything like that: "It's good to be a pirate". LOL. If this version of Garp and the one in the main plot had met this dude would have gotten a real punch. Hahaha Cool ep. I am glad Oda stayed with the one who have been published for 20 years, more than 900 ch. + ep. Yeah, One Piece happy 20th anniversary! May you stay in our life before we die. LOL, hahaha |

| Didn't think they would anime the one shot (start of one piece), cause no other series ever animate their one shot/ original start. (most times not even ova) This was what made One Piece popular and the start of it all. Also, a note, the original didn't have the "Gum-Gum" call every time Luffy punch or kicks. It was a pure fighting, no delay. They only added in the call cause apparently little kids loved it. |

| It was a fun alternate take on One Piece, although how it turned out in the end was better so I'm glad this wasn't the path One Piece ultimately went down. I wish they had animated some of the side stuff from the manga like how Wapol got a new kingdom and the CP-9 in the aftermath of Ennies Lobby. It's not like they couldn't have used the extra weeks that would have given them. |
| That was a nice refeshing episode. Interesting to see the roots of the One Piece we know today. A lot of things changed to the original like Garp being a pirate and taking the Shanks role which was pretty cool. Even if Ann is another character I also only saw and heard Nami in her :D It's weird not hearing Luffy say anything when he attacks. You get so used to it. Poor Brook..ehm I mean Spiel got totally rekt. Reminded me how Alvida went flying. Animation was cool I definitely liked it. Happy 20th Anniversary :) |

| What an interesting origin. But I am glad it changed along the way, the goal of being a peace-main just seems lacklustre compared to his current dreams. That said I am not sure if I would have preferred the lack of the gummi gummi attack calls. |

| It is certainly uncanny to see Garp as a pirate encouraging his grandson. And the fact that many characters had the voices that we are so familiar with, it felt as though this was some weird play in the One Piece world, the Straw Hats playing the parts. It was also pretty freaking interesting. I'm glad that the concept of peace-mains and morganeers was only carried in spirit, because categorizing them as good or bad so explicitly feels less interesting than seeing more grays. the way it is now, there is definitely a spectrum but it's not so clear. I also thought it was pretty cool to see how Luffy's power was kept hidden from the audience. We see the story about how he ate the devil fruit but we don't exactly understand what that means without prior knowledge. The anime goes out of its way to keep it mysterious how Luffy unlocked the cell, and ultimately getting shot or 'my hands coming' were a great way to sell the power! Lastly, I had thought we ventured back into the era where there was limited to no fanservice in One Piece, but then we saw blue hair Nami's treasure, her balloons, bouncing in the wind before she got shot. |

| The original One Piece as how Oda initially planned it to be. Anne is Nami but Blue, Luffy just want to be a Peace Main pirates and the biggest of all, Garp himself is a pirate, not just any pirate, but also Luffy's idol and the one who gave him the strawhat! What a world this is! Now that the 20th anniversary Romance Dawn has been displayed, it's time to get back to our lovely universe's One Piece! Back to Wano! |

| I really do miss the days of One Piece having less exaggerated bodily proportions. Anyways, I've known about Romance Dawn for a long time, but I've never actually checked it out. It's good to know how different One Piece could have been, such as Shank's hat belonging to a pirate Garp, or Nami having blue hair and being named Ann. Though, in retrospect, I think the thing I really appreciate about One Piece is its comedy and silliness. From the very beginning, it revolved around a goofball named Luffy with rubber limbs, and that element remained rather constant for over two decades. No matter how much suffering, trauma, gritty action, dark themes, or death occurred throughout One Piece, it never really strays too far from being a quirky adventure series. In some respects, the series' darker elements can balance poorly with its attempts at comedy. On the other hand, it may just be Luffy's influence, ruining whatever serious plan a villain might have with his trademark idiocy. That, I think, might be One Piece's greatest strength: it knows its identity as a fun adventure, and never loses sight of its origins. |

| Agh, wish I knew the backstory of Romance Dawn before I voted 3/5. I definitely have a greater appreciation & respect for the role it played. As neat as it was, I'm glad it was refined into a far more ambitious adventure with grand dreams that exceeded all imagination. Luffy wanting to be King of the Pirates, his first encounter with Coby and the great quest for One Piece. I wouldn't have it any other way! |
