| Basically, they're just sitting in the middle of the freacking desert, chatting about whatever for whatever reasons... Yet, why was that not boring for a bit, and even enjoyable I must say...? |

| This was a very amusing episode. I find Togame to be pretty cute...but I fear she has some secrets that we won't like....idk, just guessing here. |
Uneri Kinkaku was incredible but old and looked out of energy. Inaba area was interesting especially the castle but how did it ever get into a dessert? Just be expansion.....I would not think so but I am no geography expert at all. His totally oblivious and simple minded personality really makes their relationship seem more like a girl and her new pet more than travelling partners. Personally I liked more that Togame has a shy side that is not overwhelming like Louise in Zero no Tsukaima. | This is definitely going to be the best anime of the season, maybe of 2010. Love the characters, the talking is done really well, and doesnt bore me, animation is a fresh whiff of wind, I love the story, and there is plenty of good humor. Cheerio! |

| I enjoyed this episode soooooo much more than the first. I'm likin' this series now. :P People need to stop complaining about all the talking. Like someone else said, if you want more action and less talking, watch some shitty shounen series. NOW, some of the dialogue is a tad bit on the boring side, but still fun and enjoyable. |

| I concur. It is not the amount of dialogue, but what is being said that causes the fatigue. You can seriously just tune out listen to the anime, and just watch something else for the first 25 min or so...and the "fallen for you" tripe is becoming a shallow plot device...we get it: they're gonna protect/grind on each other. Find something else to progress with the inside story... I'd hate to say this, but this one is walking a fine line between interesting and repulsive. |

That's a pretty damn quick boat xD Or if not, at least Shichika is awesome when it comes to rowing, and fighting da powah ヽ(´ー｀)ﾉ Anyway, the art is still pretty interesting ヽ(´Д｀ヽ) "A lady's fashion sense." Right, because that sense was obviously not present when she got her outfit ┐(-｡ｰ')┌ But I guess she's cute anyway ◕ ◡ ◕ Not to mention Shichika's new outfit ..! He does seem to have some kind of fetish for exposing his chest ┐('～`；)┌ Ah btw! Shichika's awesome, in case anyone didn't notice! ヽ(´Д｀ヽ) Interesting guy actually, a weird, but no doubt effective, way for an uncivilized young man to learn how to recognize a human (っ´Д｀)っ OH GOD it's over 9000 in annoyingness reading what this Shirasagi guy says ٩(͡๏̯͡๏)۶ Down upside is face his why and nickname the explain might it though. Even don't I this is what ٩(๏_๏)۶ Die he did? Anyway... Funny how the desert apparantly spread out from the sea, and not until it reached the sea... More reversing （‐＾▽＾‐） Maniwani~ ( ¯‿¯) Mendou~ ( ¯‿¯) Cheerio~ ( ¯‿¯) Yep, I'm having quite some fun ( ¯‿¯) However, by that time you'll have been torn into pieces. Cheerio~ ( ¯‿¯) Oh I just can't seem to stop ┐(-｡ｰ')┌ And Shichika has no common sense at all, I mean.. Even I know well enough that you don't call a lady heavy ( ◔ ◔) This Uneri guy's got a nice attitude btw ( ﾟ ｰ ﾟ) And so she steps right into his range, eh? Luckily for Togame, Shichika was there ツ Yeah, right, faster than light, sure... Then that sword would dissolve (¬_¬) Oh right, I shouldn't try to apply physics to anime ( ´∀`) Gyafun~ Tl;dr this is probably one of the better shows of the season tbh （￣ー￣） And also, I find it funny that they call it the "Owari" Shogunate (=´∇｀=) Lastly.. While there were a few redeeming qualities in this episode already mentioned, like the scene in the beginning with the hair, but it didn't go far enough in my opinnion. The development at this point is very shallow. The characters are still very static, and the discussion in the desert about his catchphrase was indeed lame. No one else here has mentioned yet that this guy... Really reminds me of Byakuya Kuchiki from Bleach. This show seems to be missing the edginess that Bakemonogatari had. I really enjoyed the first episode and thought that it had a lot of potential. After this episode I'm starting to agree with some of the original criticisms. Episode two did seem like it was a show made for Saturday mornings on the WB. Who knows maybe someday it will be a fit like Yu-gi-Oh!. I Still can't completely dislike this series yet, but if things stay as is, I might have to leave this one for the 13 and under crowd. |

| Plenty of dialogue is good and all but.... the dialogue in this makes it so much worse than it could be. It is just lame and drags on about really stupid things. Apart from the pointless dialogue I am enjoying the plot (even though it isn't anything special) and the fights seem like they will be good despite all the monologues. I guess they suit the kind of era this is based in though. I am enjoying this but it could be so much better IMO. Togame is too annoying... |

| As much as I love dialogue-centered shows, this gets stale at some point. They really should add more fights or at least lengthen the fights so they're not that anti-climactic. Shichika's becoming a lot more likable and I loved the meta-humor and general weirdness, but it's not quite enough for a 50 min. episode. Still has plenty of potential, though. |

| First of all, am I the only one that still feels that as far as colorful design and plot that it reminds me of the Muramasa video game? I'm suprised not a lot of people say that about this show, which is what I like about it. Second of all, ........am I the only one who is fucking baffled that the 2 main characters spent 10 minutes talking in the desert about how to make the "report" sound as entertaining as possible?! I mean... they sat walked in the sand... just talking... throughout the day... where there is no water in sight... and thus there mouths should've been dehydrated... and yet somehow they weren't. And not only that, ...but it's sort of the strategist's fault that even happened because she was so bent on how to make her report sound interesting. I thought strategists were suppose to be... well... strategic. I know the desert itself didn't seem all that hot, ...but still, I mean come on! And also, is it really necessary for Togame to use a term like "cheerio" in every other one of her sentences? It's one thing girls in anime nowdays habitually use unexplainable terms/sounds in their sentences, but does Togame have to be so self-conscious about using it? In fact, what girl in real life actually says a certain term in much of her sentences in real life? |
| Shichika and Togame's relationship sure is something. Probably one of the better couples this season and totally outclasses shit like lolzBundlovetriangle. Shichika is an enjoyable main character devoid of many of the generic main character tropes we see in every anime out there recently and Togame is a refreshing quirky female lead. The hair training is pretty amusing and I wonder what strange things those two will come up with next. |

| The best part of the episode for me must be the flaw in Ginkaku's drawing sword that he can't draw up straight. I was like why no body has ever thought about that. That was just awesome and weird at the same time. Wasabi said: I will take it that you haven't seen Chu-Bra!!.Shichika and Togame's relationship sure is something. | The final battle between the two was by far the highpoint of the episode. Not to say that the dialogue and interaction between Shichika and Togame was bad as they were quite good...though the talk time did get to be excessive at times. If they tighten that aspect up, it would make the show that much better. |

| You can feel the relation to Bakemonogatari in the amount of dialogue, but... it just doesn't work as well for me. Bakemonogatari also had points where I felt the talking dragged, but there was something unique and enthralling about it that I'm not feeling in Katanagatari. That's not to say it never entertained me, and it certainly worked better than the ninja's endless exposition in the first episode. Still, I'm not at all impressed. |

Togame directly addressed the thought that Shichika is a pretty weak character. By doing so, though, the audience is quick to say "well, he's not that bad" and start thinking about what makes him strong, and certainly the way he engages Togame is proof in his strength as a character. Despite being as dumb as he is, he's still able to keep up with the conversation and be totally funny in his own right (poking fun at her lame catch-phrases) It's this kind of well-written dialogue that I had hoped would happen after the exposition-heavy premier. Despite the terrible conceit of these unbeatable weapons and the unbeatable Shichika, the show still manages to be entertaining precisely because of the dialogue and character interactions. There really isn't anything to gush over in the animation department, because the show is very static. We see more flashes of pictures than fluid animation, and in this episode, we didn't really see anything since the sword moves faster than the speed of light. I loved the episode because it kept me engaged for 40 minutes when most shows can't keep my attention for half that amount of time. |
