| Exellent first episode. It does a very good job at establishing the world and setting the tone. |
| I didn't really like how this is going, but seeing how much happened in one episode I still have hope. One thing I personally dislike is when series mix (gory) deaths with some light-hearted atmosphere or slight comedy. |

This is first time, out of the hundreds of anime I've watched that I'm rating (temporarily, ofc) a show 10 after watching the first episode. Gore is love. | Oh my...The first episode was so intense, so much thing happened in one episode, and I was so hyped all the time. At the beginning it was all interesting, and as the events turned out.. Same as above, this is the first anime that I instantly gave a 10/10 at the first episode.. Just plain amazing in every way, animation, characters, theme and then the bloodbath.. :D |

| I love the way Night Raid was (at first) portrayed as bad guys, but then the truth about that family is revealed. They really put the viewers in Tatsumi's perspective. This is going to be one of those anime with no black & white characters; just different shades of gray. Akame... is pretty much Setsuna F. Seiei's female counterpart. She reminded me of him mainly by saying "eliminate" & "target" with an expressionless face; & they both have red eyes & black hair lol. |

The comedy elements didn't match up at all with the dark parts of the series. It was like typical shonen anime comedy tropes followed by cutting peoples' heads off and being completely serious or sad. It was jarring but not in a good way. |
| That was awful. Surprising too, since I was enjoying the first half of the episode. Once the main plot started to unfold, though, the show's quality completely nosedived. Literally everything was executed in the laziest and ugliest way possible. The abrupt transitions between comedy and violence were choppy and disturbed the flow of the scenes repeatedly, and in general gave me a tonal whiplash. This isn't dark humor; it's just gory scenes coupled with light-hearted comedy, a juxtaposition that is totally out of place. That wasn't the worst of it though. This episode's central conflict is ripe for setting up moral ambiguity, but that was thrown completely out the window once it became clear that the assassins are the good guys and the royalty are evil monsters. I haven't seen such blatantly cartoonish villains in a long time. The rant the princess gave right before her death was especially cringe-worthy, and her 180 turnaround in personality had essentially zero foreshadowing and did not feel organic in any shape or form. I felt repulsed by the violence and carnage that the raiders were indulging in, but the show doesn't give any indication that it wants its audience to feel that way. The group of assassins are not questioned in any way, and in fact their actions are presented as correct and morally sound. The extremely disturbing justification given to this, explicitly by the text no less, is that the people of the Capital are so evil that they deserve to die. Their killers are presented as standard cool heroes who feel no remorse for their deeds. The message sent by this episode is something that I cannot get behind in any shape or form. These people are so evil they deserve to die, is pretty much what's being implied by the narrative here. What the heck? This is all capped off with a death scene with some of the worst execution I've seen in a while. Everything about it was painfully mechanical and run-of-the-mill. The guys dies in his friends arms, but not before having some final, apparently sentimental last words. The main character's grief ends as quickly as it begins, and we're back to some comedic scenes as the protagonist joins the assassin group. I'm usually very positive about everything I watch, but the second half of this episode was a disaster on every conceivable level. I hope this gets better, and quickly. |

| This entire episode was shit from start to finish. The whole time it gave off a feeling of been there seen it a thousand times.... i hope the comedy isn't one of the main focal points of this show, because it was horrid. |

| Pretty strong start I must say, it doesn't happen much that the main character murders in cold blood in the first episode, the drama and overall pacing was really good as well so this anime sure has potential! |

| Loved the first episode. The overturn about that rich family was so amazing that i still can't believe that happened. The only sad thing were the death of tatsumi's friends. I was already thinking what they would do in the anime... The anime looks promissory but i expected more from OP. I don't think it's a song that matches with the style they showed in the first episode. |
