oh well the backstory of that child whose name i dont even remember at this point wasn't all that interesting. I don't like her character. The writing dropped in quality but I hope it picks back up in the next arc. the ending sequence was nice.

Tonari's backstory was okay. I don't really feel a connection with her. I would not be surprised if she was next to die, and Fushi will be able to shapeshift into her.
I'm not sure why some think Parona killed Hayase? Her arrow shots were inconsistent the last time I remember... I'm also confused why Fushi didn't use the blowgun. Five episodes left... I wonder how this will end.

wonder what would be an interesting story for you? for me it's on the level as it always was, complains a lot. I don't understand this hatred for Tonari, manga readers think differently about her, despite being manipulative she has to survive on a dangerous island so it makes total sense.

the anime made people hate a different character from the manga, despite the same writing only changing the order of its backstory. this episode served to show his point of view and his way of acting.

Tonari's "annoying" and manipulative personality, despite feeling that she is like that from being on a dangerous island, is enough to make people hate her enough to wish her dead, then talk about Hayase, despite being crazy. Tonari is a good character.

this is really infuriating! Hayase got the best out of Fushi!
poor Parona! we need some sweet satisfying revenge here and make Hayase feel eternal pain and suffering!

Hayase is back, so damn hype every time she on screen! My friends were bit peeve why she so insanely overpowered this time around. Has it been 4-5 years since we last saw her?

I expected Fushi new friends will die by her hands, but instead we got a nice flashback of Tonari past. I wonder if her father did murder the mother/wife? I hope it implies he turned into a murderer while battling for his life to the top of the tournament?

For any manga readers, was the details to Parona more graphic than the anime?

She wants a immortal infant with Fushi man seed? Yandere ALERT?

Words are the same but I think it's implied she took off Parona's face either during or after her death in the manga. The beheading was definitely anime only and was pretty overboard (caught me by surprise). I believe it's left to your imagination what happened to her in the manga. Apparently her current face is actually patched up with her skin. Sorry Parona fans...

Fantastic episode! Definitely one of the best episodes of the series so far. Tonari's backstory is really sad, she was in denial that her father would actually happily kill all those people which begs the question. Did Tonari's father actually really kill her mother? Well we don't know, but it's safe to assume that it's a possibility.

Fuck Hayase man, though to be honest it would be more surprising if she didn't actually kill Parona or took revenge on the village given how fucked she is in the head. That Parona beheading scene was an anime original, Hayase only described killing her in the manga. It's a nice but really painful addition. Really looking forward to the next episode.

Fucking bitch. I am actually leaving an episode where I am more angry then sad. I fucking HATE Hayase.

And now she is the leader of the Island...nice job Fushi.

My biggest issue will be if the Blow Dart does not come back somehow. Because Fushi did not use it at all.

Sorry, but this episode, particularly the last fight was just plain stupid. Hayase got even more insane plot armor and only won because the story demanded it and the author contrived it. Yea, she's a good fighter, maybe even an exceptional 1 in a million one, but you expect me to believe she can effortlessly beat or outspeed the bear she was previously scared shitless of? That she can effortlessly beat and intuit all his forms and their skills? That she can effortlessly intuit and counter all his new skills? Come on, this is pure, unadulterated bullshit plot armor nonsense.

Most of this show I think is really good and like, but anything Hayase related just goes down the drain, not because I dislike her, but because her story relies too much on cheap one dimensional shit to make me dislike her, and more annoyingly, her plot armor that makes no sense in a world / story where people die left and right. She very clearly gets special treatment because it's a story, not because sometime bad people get away with things. She's not a good antagonist.

I think this is a good anime. However, it's not as great as they hype says. The wash rinse and repeat nature of the show makes it very predictable. That's what is holding it back.

Meh episode- the final fight was a complete joke... I'll stop all your attacks with plot armor. Where is this anime going anyhow. Such a strong start, but it's getting weaker and weaker with time.
Hayase is a skillful soldier and of course she would have the advantage, Fushi is still inexperienced and it was just out of anger, and she was watching him fight in the arena from afar and had spent 4 years since Fushi's escape, obviously she was prepared before facing it. just pay attention and don't be retarded, here's the tip.

"Don't be retarded" that's my line buddy... little woman can't beat giant bear- it's already been shown in the anime. Oh right... she "trained" to beat mega bear"... yeah yeah ofc ofc lol. If an anime makes rules like- mega bear defeats all- then having an episode where a woman can take down an immortal version is Bs.

Shit, Hayase massacred the village to deliberately "send" Parona to Fushi.

That shouldn't count, she's a guest not a participant? So she can just jump into the final and become the island's ruler just like that. Without going through all those other prisoners Fushi had to fight.

you are blind? she was taken by surprise by the bear so she went to the ground but survived the attack with several wounds and now he is a fushi who clearly has no combat experience, hayase is an experienced fighter. and taking down an immortal being is different from killing, but fushi can gain immunity to the sleep drug.

They really botched Parona's death account in anime. First of all, in manga Hayase's flashback consisted only of one panel where she stands with blood stains on her robe in front of a hut, which made her reliability as narrator ambiguous - whether she really killed Parona the way she said or just wanted to piss off Fushi, so he attacks her. Secondly, she said it took her more than one hit to kill Parona but animation shows clean one-shot beheading. Such an important scene should've been sone better.

I knew that something like this would happen, Hayase would provoke Fushi that he would want to kill Hayase but Fushi went down unexpectedly fast. So, that means poison can make Fushi unconscious making him unable to transform quickly. Since Hayase has fighting experience while Fushi can just revive with no fighting ability. He needs to practice. I really want Fushi to kill Hayase. She's a mental case.

The way that bitch killed Parona....I so want that disgusting creature dead. And that preview, that bitch has some disgusting licking fetish. I wonder if she licked Parona's decapitated head like that.

Powerful episode, this. Rough backstory for Tonari, and the OST used to introduce Fushi was fantastic! Replayed that scenes 2-3 times immediately.

Couldn't help but feel like things were going too well and that turned out to be true, sadly. Freakin' Hayase back again and I can't believe she's the one who killed Parona. And in such a fashion too, good lord. Parona did end up getting exiled from her village, good riddance.

Based of the Op and previous arcs, I don't think I should warm up to these characters yet again but well, here I'm doing just that ffs.

Heard Ep 17's animation dropped a few tiers or so, no comments yet but hopefully it won't bother me as much as it did to some. Still really enjoying this show, personally.

Tonari's backstory, while depressing, lack the sense of compassion as the previous characters before her. She disregards her father because of the change in her father's appearance, she wished her father to be alive, but only as the father she perceives him to be, not the father who shed the blood of others to rise in power. Tonari is a child, but she is the furthest from being a loyal, benevolent and mature child as we have seen from Gugu the great. She is extremely selfish, and cares only for her narrow-minded objective, she does not take into account what others had gone for her, and only tend to herself and her immediate acquaintances. Never did she hesitate to decieve Fushi and Pioran, only after many days did she ever asked for forgiveness from Fushi...

I was wrong, I was astoundingly wrong, it's not that the Yanome came and slaughtered Ninnanah along with Parona, it's merely HayaBITCH herself that committed these acts of atrocities. Not only that, she manipulated Tonari to bring Fushi and Pioran to Jananda. All this lead up the her battle with Fushi. Fueled by fury and hatred, Fushi thoughtlessly charged at HayaBITCH with the intent to kill her, but despite how vile and revolting HayaBITCH is as a living being, she has the combat prowess and sneaky tactic sufficient enough to incapacitate Fushi.

What is the main point that one could take from this ep? HayaBITCH is a wench who cares for nothing but her own lustful desire, but much like her Tonari falls under the same circumstances, even if she had not done any sorts of heinous acts as HayaBITCH did, there is a fine parallel that made both HayaBITCH and Tonari similar, in essence, they share a similar way as to how they live their lives. Both of them are a threat to people's well being.

Rest in Peace Parona, I can only hope that as the blade decapitated her head, she can rejoin her older sister, family, March and everyone else that had their lives abruptly taken by a dreadful demoness.

Kid group share their deathflags life goals.
Tonari backstory where she's in disbelief of her dad was peculiar.
Tho Hayase got ridiculously agile, MC mainly spams transforms as surprise tactic, but each 'character class' training too shallow & lacks overall fight experience. eg Gugu only used for fire and all 4 years of his muscle training wasted in Fushi's copy.
He did levelup the March-class in climbing skill tho. He really needs more training/tournament arcs.

God I hope they dont pull a no killing thing with fushi here, he is 150% justified in killing hayase if he gets the chance. Normally id say this death was cheap but I think it does actually work in this situation cause we learn about it at the same time as Fushi before we hear any specific details that may seem more mean spirited, if this was revealed like in the fight itself then itd be some bullshit, but I think this was handled in the way the show wants you to feel, which is angry at Hayase less so than angry at the show.

The backstory of Tonori was interesting; her father won the tournament but he was corrupted by power. And afterwards he was murdered cowardly via poison so she was never able to find out whether he actually killed her mother or not. It took Tonari years to smile for the first time in that place, which is natural.

As for the psycho Hayashe it was kind of expected that she was going to win the duel with Fushi. She also uses poisons and narcotics, and she obviously wanted to enrage Fushi so that she had an edge in the fight.
What is not clear is whether she operates largely on her own (with a few Yanome lackeys who might be under her direct command) or she follows orders from the brash above her regarding Fushi.

Tonari's arc is completely useless imho. I don't like her at all and everything she does is pointless. Hayase didn't even threatened her and she willfully deceived Fushi and Pioran to go to that island. An excessively long arc full of unpleasant characters. Hayase and Pioran are the only exceptions, but they existed in the story already... It is a shame, bc this anime is so good.
