If this becomes good, i swear i'm going to read the manga since the beginning

Ur better off reading the manga anyways, the anime will probably be rushed and wont fit a lot of details in it + character development wont as good.

Oh yes I waited and endured this realm!
My first and hopefully only complaint would be what incompetent Yankes are making subtitles for the series nowadays. You can't understand the series, and your work is a hindrance. Go Home.

I'm not sure how I feel about this episode really, as while I wanted to like it and am intrigued by the changes that have taken place between Root A and this episode, I find myself mostly unsure, as almost all of these "Quinxe" guys are pretty damn annoying, and the only one who isn't (Haise) is mainly because it's so damn obvious what his deal is, but I want to know how he got to where he is now from where he was before (is his identity meant to be a twist, by any chance? because this episode may as well have said in large, flashing letters exactly who he is, for how obvious it is).

A shaky start, but I'm interested to see where this goes from here.

Like the first episode of Tokyo Ghoul the quality was really nice. I hope this time they can keep the quality in comparison to S1.

I almost forgot how funny Urie was at the start of :Re. That "Rest in Peace" killed me all over again.

I actually enjoyed this quite a lot. It helped that I expected nothing, it was impossible to disappoint me and I've forgotten quite a bit about the start of :Re so I can look at this more as a standalone work for now. Haise, Urie and Shirazu were established quite well, although probably much better in the manga. The music was sublime and allowed me to enjoy this more than I should've.

It still felt really rushed though, but I guess that's the nature of the beast. Quality wise this won't come close to the manga, it'll be a 6-7/10 at best but I think I'll be able to enjoy this quite a bit as long as I don't compare it with the manga too much. Looking forward to next week

Obviously his identity is a major mystery to about anyone but Arima and maybe some top tier investigators. It is bound to produce some friction with characters when they get a wind of his real identity.

I felt it was really rushed. With characters actually having voices, there wouldnt be a debate about if haise is really kaneki or smt else but still showing kaneki in the first episode... I don't know. Also it wont follow the root A it seems. Since hide was in the opening and also saw a missing poster of him but in root A they killed him and body was infront of the ccg so no chance of going "missing".

I am hoping that season 3 is a bigger improvement than it was last season!
So far, the first episode didn't really give me much excitement but I guess it was more of an introduction episode which included newer characters! I do hope to see more depth of their backstories in future episodes! ^^
In my opinion, the pacing of this episode felt kind of quick especially with the ending happening! The episode was average in my eyes and hopefully the episodes will get better from here!

The opening of this season is much better than Root A but Unravel will always be one of my favourite anime openings! <3

Hahahah tbh I loved it! 6 chapters adapted but it didn't feel that rushed to me. Almost forgot how funny of a character Urie was at the beginning of RE. That finger clutch at the end.............

Very good, let's hope that Studio Perriot can keep this going throughout the 12 episodes and eventually season 2

Fair enough, but I meant more in terms of whether it's meant to be a mystery to the audience or not, and if it's played as a massively shocking revelation to the audience when it is eventually revealed?

I don't see the point of rushing and "half ass" effort on a well known and hyped show that would bring so much profit to the studio if done well...

Pretty rushed but with crisp animation and a good cliffhanger. OP and ED aren't the best but when it comes to Tokyo Ghoul nothing can beat Unravel.

The one well-animated scene in this episode was when Sasaki released his kagune, and that's only because they needed it to look good in the PVs. I'm gonna keep going just to see if I'll be proven wrong, but judging from this one episode, :Re is gonna be yet another victim by the serial anime rapist, Studio Pierrot.

Everyone here mostly saying that the episode was rushed or the opening is good or better than Root A's opening, but they like Unravel more, even though it has already been said.

The new OP doesn't beat the first OP in visual appeal, but the song "asphyxia" by Cö shu Nie is absolutely gorgeous, even when compared to Unravel.

How was the censoring in the episode(if there was any)? With the original I chose to rather wait for the Bluray as I found the inverted colours and black shadows very annoying.

So is it bad in re?

there doesn't seem to be any censoring, but that's because there's next to no gore.

Is this one of those shows where cheap and unfamiliar fanbase calls itself fanbase and makes me question humanity? Anyway, the game "Who? How? When?" has officially begun with all the "fans" of the franchise competing.
To kick things off it goes traditionally, the first person we meet as a citizen is a ghoul in disguise. How unexpected. In my opinion manga drawings were more decent in presenting Urie's personality. He seems so blank in here to my eyes and overall animation sometimes seemed horrible.
Goodness, same cliche twice in an episode. "Hero" Sasaki appearing twice out of nowhere at exactly needed time and slicing the enemy's kagune just at the right time. Probably some coindicence just as the existence of our universe itself. Sure.

What I enjoyed is the preview format. Leaving for the next week.

For starters, the OP song is MUCH better than Root A's, but Unravel reminds the best OP of this franchise.

As for the episode, the action and animation was pretty good, but it did feel rushed in many areas. With 12 episodes, I do worry that future episode will have this same rushed feeling that might effect my enjoyment.

For now, it's a good start. =)

The producers probably just wanted to hook the viewers in quickly and get their attention right from the start.

You've read the manga havent you? It starts off the same way as ep 1

tl;dr -

it's independent from root a ending, 'cause arima and kaneki didn't fight there

I actually think the pacing is kind of good for people who've already read the manga. Anime-only watchers will feel lost, but I think it will make some of them more curious to read the source material. Watching just the anime will not get you all the little details that Ishida provides in his work.

I think that the ending was pretty funny, and the still-frame shot of the Quinx in the field of spider lillies looks like it could be used as the cover for an album.

A pretty 'eh' starting ep. Pierrot's magnificent pacing already showing up! /s. Can already feel the confusion anime-only watchers are gonna have for this series (or the first episode for that matter).

Honestly I just wanna see how they're gonna deal with Furuta in the anime so I'm sticking around purely for that. Interesting to see how much of a fuck-up this season's gonna turn out like in the end.

Nice little bit of action to start the episode with. Even within the ccg there are rivalries huh. The mado punch is as deadly as it is sudden. Chie's request sure was odd. The squad is far from united huh. The squad sure was too brash in pursuing torso on their own though. Hmm a solid first episode that did well to introduce the main members of the squad and Haise. The music that played during the last fight scene was also pretty good as well.

the characters until they were well presented and managed to turn the plot well but it was very run, besides the animation that was weak in some scenes, like the final moments, but by the way will be a top 5 anime of the temp, I hope it will improve.
